  • NEEEEEEEERDFIGHTERS FTW!

  • I love watching you be true...

  • 583 people are educated, and working towards this project, where as 5 others are completley ignorant to what Genocide is.

  • NERDFIGHTER???? OMGZZZZ....I can't beleive this...we look alike PLUS we're both nerdfighters...woah...

  • well, i find genocide very serious..... just wait till it gets someone within the president's care (mentally, or physically too) they'll be all over it, trying to solve it, trying to cure it, but they treat the rest of us like pawns and bullshit. they don't care. they've flipped a piece of "the land of the free", got too literal, and made it say "every man man for himself" witch is shit. i agree with him.....

  • DFTBA :)

  • Yea me and my friends formed a club in our school and made slide shows , and videos informing our school. I was suprised that the genocide in darfur has been going on for so long and most of us have never known about it. Im a muslim and when i learned that muslims are killing muslims i was disgusted, killing anyone in that matter is wrong and twisted. thanks for this video hope it spreads that news :)

  • im sorry people need to worry about wants going on in tibet before deruf.

  • wtf not funny

  • @Kitgoldgriffin not supposed to be...

  • he was paid to make this video

  • dude... you were so serious... i swear you should send this to Obama. no joke. btw-in the related vids columb, there are 50 vids that say the same thing.

  • god, that's like your most serious video ever!

  • like the Holocaust "we wil always remember"

  • What do you know about Cambodia???

  • I hate that word so much, because it involves massive amounts of idiots that are so simple that they can't take something for what it really is. Of course there are different levels. Low being something like the male stereotype. Higher we have race stereotypes. So many people need to know that their truthless hatred makes them so much worse than their truthless stereotypes. A lot of the conflict in the world is from it's hypocrite inhabitants.

  • Men is the greatest illness over the earth, we can´t change it, we are ruthless and codicious

  • woow...that was deep....i didn't even know about this O.o dude thats crazy.

  • you just scared me...

    and your damn right...

  • thanks for tellin me

  • I'm in the 11th grade and i never even heard about this, thanks for the upload. I hope it gets something good done.

  • tshhhhh, bitch please. America is sooooo past neutral at this point it isn't even funny. You know, America thought that exact same thing before going into WWII. That was the one with the holocaust in case you forgot.

  • I said we need to be neutral, not that we are neutral at this moment. Trying to help Darfur will just be a burden to us. It's the truth.

  • its not about a nation. Its about people. Us as people need to learn how to help others who really need help.

  • But you don't understand. We can't. We fucking can't.

  • No you don't fucking understand we can do it. We wont do it because american's are fucking selfish maky.

  • can't never could do anything.

  • We can't end a genocide, by helping we can just help people survive a bit longer. That's about it.

  • dlfakds;lfksd! thats all i hear.

  • You cannot hear text. :)

  • that is true. but if you were talking..thats what i would hear.

  • I suggest you to check your ears.

  • Yes finally someone who agrees with me. In America, we should wipe our asses first before we do it for someone else.

  • right, but don't forget that we get everything from everyone else.

  • ur a dumb ass, we dont do nothing for our selves. We get every one esle to do it! what does america produce? hardly anything. It all comes from Asia and places like that.

  • well if Darfur had something to provide us with for our services , I am sure that we would have helped them, but since they have nothing valuable to offer us, why waste billions fixing up their problems? Right now, we should fix the problems in America, then maybe later help others.

  • Yes peoples income dropping from $40,000 to $39,000 a year on average (or whatever it is) is so terrible and we should just wait to help thousands dying and woman being raped and children never seeing there parents again because they are being killed is something we should wait to do. Maybe only another 50,000 will die before we do something that sounds ok?? You my fellow american need to start look at what real problems are. Our economy is bad but genocide is worse.

  • I don't care if you help them or not. All i want is for our taxed money to stay here inside of America. I really don't care what you do with your hard earned money, but i don't want our government to waste mine or anyone else who agrees with me. For the people who have money the don't want, need, or who want to help, go ahead. I am not saying i am not better off then them, I am just saying I have my own problems to attend.

  • okay.. if you care about it so much.. why don't you do something about it..

making this video didn't save anybody's life..

all you're doing is whinning.. it's annoying

either do something about it.. or don't..

    just stop whinning

  • i bet you havent done anything about it

  • and you have?

the reason why i haven't is cause i don't really care..

what have you done.. seeing as how you "care" so much

  • i in all honesty i dont care either but i just thought your comment made it sound like you did care so thats why i decided to say somthing about it

  • i've been working on a project for school about darfur. out of almost all the videos i've seen about this issue yours is one of the most powerful and persuasive. thank you for posting this and spreading the word about the terrible actions going on across the globe.

  • The countries government, military and terrorists make it too difficult for external help to get in for the victims. I am learning about the Armenian genocide right now. The average person still cannot get into Turkey to invesigate. The government will imprision anyone remotely interested in finding out facts. Then any locals who speak to the outside world are terrorized. Remember the Burma disaster last year? Outside aid wanted to pour in but the nazi government would not allow it.

  • The real I think of when I hear this is the Cambodia Genocide of the khmer rouge under pol pot, and just how can we just sit back and why do we sit back,

but he look how much money and interest we poor into iraq....

The question is why dont they/we help?

I don't know what they'd tell you, but I k now that they wouldn't see any gain out of it.. We only help out if there's any gain in it,, if we can make money off it, but... I guess that's the sad truth...

  • Part 1:

AP press 04.27.09. WASHINGTON Five members of Congress have been arrested while protesting the expulsion of aid groups from Darfur in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington.

They were among eight people led away in handcuffs Monday after crossing a police line. They urged world leaders to take a stand against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir's decision to expel 16 aid agencies from Darfur, where the United Nations says up to 300,000 people have died in fighting ....

  • Part 2:

that began more than six years ago.

The arrested lawmakers are Democratic Reps. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, John Lewis of Georgia, Donna Edwards of Maryland and Lynn Woolsey of California.

Ellison says it's wrong to deny aid to what he calls "the most vulnerable people on our planet."

  • true beyond reason

but theres also somehting like this in a asian country

  • im learning about the rwanda genocide right now...its scary

  • You are surprisingly fair! I am admired. Your speech sets thinking.

  • wow that's sad/amazing i've never thought about it.

  • Wow, we are doing our community service project this year to raise awareness of this genocide. (Actually I think it started in 2006)

But yes, helping any way we can is great. I do think that people wait around because they think something so small will go away quickly so nothing needs to be done. If more people knew I think this problem would be more easily solved.

    Great video!

  • You're pathetic.

  • what is genocide?

  • It's basically the violent killing off of another race/culture/ethnicity.

  • "the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group"

  • This is because we honestly don't have to do anything about it. You know the government knows this is a genocide. They aren't dumb. But the moment the UN calls this a genocide EVERY NATION IN THE UN HAS TO DO SOMETHING. Other countries are too worried about their own gain. And it's said. Really it is. But this is what happened with Rwanda. And this is what happening with Darfur. It is sad not a lot know of this. And it needs to be fixed. But it has to get REALLY BAD sadly enough.

  • u kno i feel kind of proud of u for making a seriouse video like this, and for such a good cause. ur right I'm gonna do something about it

  • dude.....

  • i actually sent out a re post on myspace

  • wow i didn't know about that so i went & googled it . wow thats sad i didn't know this was going on . ill definitkey tell my friends about this. if you feel so deeply about this subject you would probly like the movie v for vendetta

  • plus the us needs to stay out of other countrys business

  • i know i sound bad saying this but humans need to die on a much larger scale there are way to many humans on this planet the fate that is in store for the entire world is far worse than a few million people dead or missing

  • we do need to stop this....but the majority of people on youtube are teens. teens can educate adults who then educate each other. but what we need is a charity from the adults to help stop the Genocide now. but that won't do it all. we need the U.N. to send in clean teams into darfur to stop the madness

  • Don't get me wrong; we should do something. But most wont, because your wrong about 1 thing: It does matter that they are half way across the world. That's why people are able to 'forget' about it. Being aware isn't enough. There's an empathy factor, and even that may not be enough. Not with all the methods we have of fooling ourselves into ignoring the obvious. Not when we can justify our actions with reasons based in self preservation, and each have they're own idea of what that word means.

  • i think people should be properly educated about this and also it should be stopped but people shouldnt have to have this get them down, stay positive and try and make a difference, if you let fear, anger and sadness fill your life than thats all you will think about. i know its really hard, especially since all of the hate and fighting is still going on, but if you become angry than you will think of less peaceful ways to help stop and prevent this.

  • theres only ~5-6 billion people at the time of this comment.

  • how would u feel if you would be dieing and/or raped, would you change your mind then?

  • exactly right dude how would u feel seudonak? not so smart now r ya? would luv to see u get raped

  • not all humans are like u man i can't believe u can say that

  • woa great charity!!

    UR A NERDFIGHTER?!?

    rock on dude

  • Yes! Save Darfur!

  • holy crap

    read the description!!!

    MY BIRTHDAY IS DECEMBER 17!!!

    :O

  • so...? its just a date. not to be rude. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  • Yeah, I learned about it in arroounnndd....2004? Idk. I was really depressed about it. I told a lot of people, and surprisingly...they had no idea. That was really sad. v.v

  • ive never even heard of darfur

  • Thank you so much Cyr, for posting this video on Darfur. It's something I feel very strongly about, and think it's disgusting that we, as devolped and strong countries, have done nothing.

You hit the nail right on the head with your media call.

I will definatley be sharing this among my friends.

If I'm trying to stop this, so many other people could be too.

  • you are amazing and your words are so inspiring that thousands will do something and i know it.

  • fuck dude iv watched all your vids and then this

    and it hit me

    your right!

what if it was you thats how you look at it!

    ily man

  • spred the word... DEFINATELY! 5 STAR RATE THIS VID AND TELL EVERYONE

P.S IM YOUR BIGGEST FAN, CYR!

  • Haha! There's no oil! America has no reason to help. However, those positive people believe it's because they don't want to be helped.

Either way, there's too much violence in the world, too much evil, so many selfish people. I support!

  • pitousa13, there's no oil in Lebanon, yet America went there in the 80s to stop the killing of civilians. Our reward? A truck bomb that slaughtered 241 Marines.

There's no oil in Somalia, but in the 90s America went there with food, water, & troops trying to bring peace. We were met with machine guns & rocket-propelled grenades. They blew our choppers from the sky, then dragged our soldiers' bodies thru the streets & celebrated.

It's not always easy to play peacemaker.

  • That being said, we must do what we can. But rather than just slam on America, look at both sides. It's sad how when America intervenes, the world condemns us, but when we don't, the world condemns us anyway (Lebanon II, 2006).

If America sends troops to Darfur (& it would take a MAJOR force), how long before people would be screaming "Yankee go home!" & Americans would be demonstrating against "sending our boys to die in another foreign war"?

This stuff isn't as easy as it sounds.

  • Definately spreading the word.

  • This is definitely unknown in aus, because I have never heard about it. I don't even know what Darfur or Genocide is o_O

  • It wouldn't be old news if it happened to you.

  • Wow.

He's right, I knew very little about this...I'm going to do whatever I can to help, even if it's just a little.

  • Here's to people who want to educate others. We need to put teachers in schools who want to make a difference. Count me in.

  • If I get another recommendation for Project for awesome i will flip out this is getting really annoying but i mean come on they're like forcing this on me. I making a project for suck

  • i wish i could do something...about it i mean

  • Yes, I realize that sentance was completly off topic.

  • Isn't a person a person? I think so. I think that we have become a materialistic society.

  • What about people, adults? What about the mothers these children that we have fed, clothed, educated and protected have? Need? Doesn't a person, as Cyr said, deserve to live, no matter what?

  • And what if this educates, feeds and protects a child that will not find the cure to cancer? Is that child worthy no longer?

  • Let's see. 50+50+20+40+60+7=267.

$267. How many kids could that feed? Clothe? Protect from the elements? EDUCATE? What if, let's say 20 dollars was all that was needed to educate the child that will find the cure to cacer?

  • He called me on my cellphone. It probably cost somewhere around 50 dollars.

    Ice-cream: approx. 7$

    Groceries: $40

    Skiing: $60

    Gas: $20

  • And I asked him if they were also bringing ice-cream

  • Because he and my dad were just skiing and so they were picking up a movie and some groceries.

  • Just now, my brother called me. And he asked me if Jackie Chan was ok.

  • Wow. Just, wow.

  • our school is raising money for solar powered cookers for the family's in darfur

  • Great video<3

I love your compassion. I didn't learn about it until the end of my junior year in May. My history teacher showed us "Invisible Children".

  • comment!

  • coffee gives you aids?

  • We have our own problems to worry about.

Going around babysitting other countries that havent advanced enough to defend themselves from attack is not our job. America already has enough enemies/haters as it is.

  • no new vids bro?
