is this tuned to 40hz like dd recommends or you tuned it lower? im thinking about building a box for my 1512 3.4ft^3 (excluding port and woofer volume is 2.5ft^3) tuned to 34hz
@wow1022 34 Hz is good if you wanna hit the lows, but just remember you have a 1500 series speaker, and that comes with some limitations, compared to bigger series (3500 or more). If you get the box right and you have the right ammount of clean power, you will love it. ;)
sweet system. I got 2 2515s stock everything on red top daily box merlon 1900.1 DD highs and I got up to a 146.6 in a s10. Plan on getting another 2515 and walling it out. And thats correct just bc the speaker can go out say 2 inches doesn't make it loud. Alot of factors go into it.
It would get alot louder if you sealed the box off from the rest of the car. from the front of the box back. Just thought i'd mention that, but you probably already knew that. Kick ass system anyway though!
@MegaJustinR Go with the 9500 either the 15 or 18 matters on how much room you have to play with. Make sure you have the right power for them tho batterys and amps if you dont have that already
so i also have a 90 amp alt , i have a 3000.1d running off it with stock batt under hood for now but i am getting a deka intimidator for the back, now could i safely run the batt nthe back with the amp juiced and it wont kill the alt? and yes im running 0 awg , let me kno what u think just wondering some opinions would b
dude u need to upgrade ur alt. if this guy were to upgrade his, he would get full power out of that amp and hit way fucking harder. yes that much power would burn the alt. not right away, but u dont want to be somewhere way away from ur home and it goes out on u, get a bigger alternator, u will know a big difference in power as well, in order to get 3000 out of that amp u need to be constant 14.4v, if ur under that all the time, cut ur power almost in half.
No, he will not hit "way fucking harder" because the impedance rise prevents the amp to deliver more power. When full volume tilt doing it's best number, engine on, the voltage stays over 13.4V. On a stock 90A alt, that is GOOD. If you read the description you will se that the car does good numbers with small amounts of power. It was designed this way. To be efficient as a daily driver with less power. If the install is done right, the alt will be fine.
In order to get full power out of an amp you must provide optimal voltage (and amps, ofcourse), and also required impedance. That will get your power down way faster then the voltage does. ;)
i know regardless, my car since i last wrote u has had everything installed, including big back batt with relay nd both amps, now full volume parked i eventually get under 12, but thats withthe amp boosted with bass boost up controller up, but i really want to get a bigg alt like DC power and have even tlkd about it but the new line for my car is $ like $4-$600 which is alot,i mostly do competitions which u have to do ur runs dry so n tht situation only batts matter to volts, but poor 90 amp lol
what sort of current is this amp puling because doesnt it make 4000wrms @1 ohm , how much do you think the batteries help the system run ie how do you think it would cope with just the alt and starter battery , also what are the voltages like when its cranked up do they drop really low . cheers again
i was thinking of doing this but when i spoke to a 12volt electrical installer he told me that i could'nt connect them in straight parallel cos they would discharge themselves overnight and i would end up with 2 dead batteries also he said that it would increase the load on the alt but when i was reasearching the subject i read that if the batteries were identical it could be done am ust a bit confused . how long have you ran yours like this and have you had any problems at all . cheers again
This is not my car (only built by us) but it's like this for almost 2 years, never had a problem. If you use the same type of batteries you should have no problems. Still, this car uses a very efficient system (small current draw for this number) so the 90A alt is doing it's job just fine. No problems so far. Be shure you change you power and ground wires (alt / engine / bat) using 2 or 0 AWG and using good conectors everywhere, with good surface contact.
@SoundCustomsCarAudio good to know because i have 3 1000 cold cranking amp bat's and a 130 amp alt, with 2 dd9515's and a powerbass 4000d amp.. same as the rf t4000.1 and i have very little power draw on lights like dimming and stuff
One Optima in the front, 4 0AWG (+) from front to rear, using RF fuse holders and custom copper bars, straight to de 3 Optimas in the back. So, parallel, all protected by fuses, no relays or isolaters.
Excursion is irelevant when looking for a subwoofer. "Loud" depends on the frequency you want the sub to play, and it's ability to do that depends on the box tuning frequency , the amount of clean power you have for it, etc. In this movie the system works at a 60-70% of it's max capacity. This way it can play anything as long as you have gas in the tank.
Any shop that sells DD should be able to order them. The new 91Z & 95Z's are not much more then a reg 9500 with the comp cone option :) You could always call and get a quote from DD too if you don't have a DD dealer in your area.
that sounds so clean. I Love this vid!

or ur alternator burns up.

Yes, you are right, a bigger alt whould be better and allways helps, but in this case (the car you see in the video), that is not really NECESSARY.
