@Rooshman The 288 was created with Enzo's input, and was sculpted by PininFarina when they actually had to make beautiful cars, because Enzo wouldn't sell anything he didn't like. The 599 has no character. There is none of Enzo in any modern day Ferrari's. The last one to have even a shred of Enzo in it was the 355 and only because it's motor was an evolution of the 308s v8, and the styling was an evolution of the 348 which which was itself a evo of the 308 which was created under Enzos...
@Rooshman guidence and watchful eye. I really don't care for any of the modern day Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, or Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, etc. It's because all of them are now just souless metal boxes. All the Father figures are gone. Enzo, Ferdinand, Ferruccio, Soichiro, Eji, and Henry Ford 1. All of these men knew how to make cars right, and didn't just sell cars to sell them, they sold them because it was their passion. Now their companies just sell cars, no passion.
What cars today need are more pop up headlights, led headlights will go out of style like that, but pop up headlights....shit, they never go out of style.
Such a shame this was never raced in the proposed racing series they had in mind for this car. Was it Group B?
Since only Porsche and Ferrari had designed cars for this racing series, and all other manafacturers didn't bother with it, only Group B rallying remained (and what a show that was).
Few realize the 288GTO is just a 308 made for racing, but it's quite an improvement.
Today this are more valuable than a F40. Fewer made so it only follows.
@McLarenMercedes Degrading the 288 GTO as "just a 308 made for racing" is wrong. The 288 GTO looks like a 308 on steroids, but thats about it. Everything has been changed. Engine, brakes, wheelbase, track, just about every bodypart, interior, etc.
The engine is even turned 90 degrees and mounted longitudinally, wich explains why the 288 GTO has no boot in the back. The 288 GTO is closer related to the later F40 than to the 308.
@twalker294 - its a bolt on part and as long as you kept the original would NOT affect value. besides the exhaust fitted there is the famed "megaphono" system made by ANSA and supplied by them and the ferrari factory - an official modification if you like.
as long as you keep the factory exhaust aside to be put back on if sold etc then whats the issue - besides the exhaust fitted to this car is a factory approved option made by ANSA and sold by both them AND ferrari themselves.
i agree with u man...it probably is the best car that S.F actually made...25 years later(built in 1984) and still looks gorgeous.. sounds just like a REAL super car should ...and still can kick some serious ass!!!!!
So right. They lost their way after the Old man died, now it is all vulgar marketing tat and shite like FXX where they con the super-rich to pay for development....who's more stupid?
@LTDGuitars420 Yes of course the FXX will put up a better time around Fiorano than the 288 i'm not saying the GTO will outperform it, but I would much rather own a 288 than an FXX as Ferrari keeps the non-street legal FXX at a track and you have to schedule to drive YOUR car.
okay the WHOLE car is hand made, the exhaust is stock, and would diminish the car's value if it were to be changed out for something that might be nicer looking or sounding for the simple reason that the car was handcrafted... that is the beauty of that car, the fact that it isn't some mas produced like the Japanese imports or American muscle cars. that's what you pay 380 thousand to half a million for.
what i mean is, it was built to order rather than rolling out of a production line along with several thousand others etc. makes it a bit more respectable if you know what i mean.
best ever ferrari manufactured, from hte f40 downwards were all hte best ferraris, all modern ones are shit because everybody thinks theyre the best and everybody loves them
the gto is actually a race car built for the street. you can change the gears in the gearbox at the rear of the car, depending on what type of racing you want to do.
it's definitely one of my favorite. i even have a 1/10 scale model of it.

Though this is considered one of the "Super Ferraris," it is very different from the other three (Enzo, F50 and F40).
A lot more luxurious.
