I also notice that this orientation would make it harder to mass produce, if you wanted to produce a whole line of stone simultaneously like in my mass cobblestone generator video, you'd have to first pull it away and then push it where you want it. So generating cobblestone is easier. I do wonder why notch added it though. Maybe for those people who wanted to make self building stuff like you said out of smoothstone. They'll have to do it one block at a time though like most vids do anyway.
IT WORKS !!!!!!! THANK YA

@TB674 smooth stone breaks like over 9000 times faster than cobble, so yeah...

this is also good for another reason than just for selfcreating smoothstone stuff: smoothstone is can be mined faster than cobble :D

Does this only work in 1.9? I tried it in 1.8 with obsidian but it wouldnt set the cobble in the right area...

@MegaGmat Yes it only works with 1.9 pre-release and most likly 1.9.

@MindCaged multiple blocks is possible with sticky, but my prob is that sometimes the lava flows earlier than the water and it crashes
jeroenvermunt 5 months ago
But.. breaking it still gives you cobble, right?
so it's not really useful unless you have an exterme shortage off coal and you have lots off pistons :p
TB674 5 months ago
@TB674 Well you could make a self build/repairing bridge made out of smooth stone.
watupbro2197 5 months ago
@watupbro2197 i made a self builiding hous :O, including roof an flour, only downside is that there is redstone in the air xD

@TB674 smooth stone mines faster, so i guess u could say its more time efficient :)

@TB674
If you had a pickaxe with Silk Touch, then you could get smooth stone that way instead of cobblestone....
