  • I love how the cello was playing!!I don't like so much the voice but is ok, with YO YO MA I have peace :)

  • George knew that emotion- the one that Ma and Taylor shared with us. Innocence protected. Peter Pan-like. Seeing them work in harmony makes you wonder why men ever induce fear amongst their peers on to result in war.

  • In love with this...just brilliant!!

  • I say sun sun sun here it Shines !

  • Nice! :)

  • 3/4 foo

  • @grizzlygriffin69 at least he has something to offer other then a worthless comment on the internet from a probable loser

  • Really? 14 persons voted down? Really? R U kidding me??? ah well, room for all taste levels in the world. Just how good do artists have to be to be recognized by EVERY HUMAN BEING AS as near perfect as humanly possible in This World really

  • Hi sir, how can i have a copy of that cello sheet/piece "here comes the sun" which was played by mr.yoyoma?for free? Pls i wanna have a copy of it.

  • These two found something musical a deep part of one's soul that is needed to connect to to appreciate. There are bound to be people who are unable to find this space in themselves. Feel sorry for them and pray for them.

  • musicians are not like other people, they speak a different language, listen to yo-yo

  • i could almost cry, it's too beautiful. thank you.

  • Wow

  • Exquisite simplicity and genius. Yo Yo Ma, James Taylor, and the Beatles. Wow!

  • Its the thought that counts

  • Those who say this isn't good....you don't know jack...trust me..high school? please..

  • I appreciate you posting this. I think it was a beautiful rendition of "Here comes the sun" It could of only been better if George was there.

  • Lindo mesmo.. demais

  • Wren, this song makes me miss you so badly! I hope you are having a great trip in NYC.... you are my 'little darling...."

  • I adore that Yo Yo Ma wants to takes notes out in order to make it better. A sign of a true musician to realize that less is more. James' voice never fails to transport me, a lovely piece imho.

  • Rats8332:

  • 12 peeple must have STONE for hearts....thnxz for postin' this clip!

  • that's a killer combo!

  • The Only Reason I Performed Is Because ,I said ID ONLY perform if they met my Stipulations.

Put Yo-Yo Ma in the Oval Office By 2015

Endorse Yo-Yo Ma's new Brand Of Air Jordans Called Air Ma's

Cameo Roles In Avatar 2 and Back To The Future 4

    And HOOKERS!

James Taylor Declined but I submitted to Him

  • I am a true Beatles fan. I was still in high school when they hit the charts so I "grew up" with their music. BUT, I think this is a great version of the song. Every musician interprets music according to their background and what they feel inside.

I like this version so to the naysayers I say, "How many songs have you recorded?"

  • nice

  • yoyo I'm sure is quite charming, however; some songs should never be covered........ pisses me off

    Taylor needs to rethink this

  • good stuff, the big O

  • whats on james's head lmao

  • Where can I get the sheet music?

  • they ae both mentioned in the book " If I stay " ;-)

  • Jesus, first this then In My Life at the Oscars. What is he? Beatle songs killer?

  • uhhh i want to buy a yo yo ma so he could accompany me every time i play the guitar and sing lol. Seriously, this piece is perfection ♥

  • Nice!

  • This move my soul!

  • Alison Krauss somewhere in here would be awesome....

  • @javadarajava do you mean that little JT guitar rif f D major to A7? He plays guitar and I watch knowing the moves, but somehow just miss the warmth or feeling he and his guitar have. Together they are wonderful.

  • Woah they are freakin amazing

  • wow !

  • awesome.. Thank you Yo-Yo and James

  • this is a great song, it took me a while to realie it was a cover, but he arrangements themselves are well unique. The cello is beautiful. I don't know if you wrote that part, if you did congratulations! You're good musicians anyways if you didn't.

  • 2 brilliant artists. The best musicians/artists always seem to gravitate towards each other and this is no exception. A sweet version of one of the all time great songs.

  • Fantastic approch... it was well played to join these 2. Indeed it was.

Its a fresh approch to the song.

    James Taylor is great!

And Yo Yo Ma does an excelent collaboration!

    Love it! :D

  • I'm with you ZenSporty...............

  • Wow, seriously, James? Yo Yo Ma? He's like on the top 10 of the best Cello players in the world. Or at least that's what I like to think...

James voice here isn't as good as it used to be... I'm not that wowed anymore.. But hell, Yo Yo blows me away! Again.

  • @xlr814music --There's actually a list of top cello players? haha..careful..your snobbery is showin' a bit.

  • @123jjcross

No, there IS no list of top cello players. I said "at least that's what i like to think.". Meaning the list doesn't exist.

  • excelente en serio¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • When did my favorite musicians become elderly when I am still so..... Oh.... Never mind.

  • Ah Jimih, methinks ye know not what compound time is me lad! Time to expand the horizons beyond thumping 4/4 - LOL!

This is superb work - as Svend said "It does not get any better than this" Two masters.

  • @MusiTech33 lol I'm not hating on his compound approach; simply stating that the original flows much better.

  • I hate Taylor's voice. Not the actual sound of it, it's just like.... you hear it and you're like, "Oh. James Taylor. .......................Hmm."

Not to mention the original lyrical rhythm is about 900 times more attractive that whatever the hell he was trying to do with it.

  • @jimih64 The greatest quality of JT is his depth of feeling and humanity. Yo Yo Ma obviously relates to this and loves to work with it. The extraordinary thing is that James's voice is nothing special. So why do my eyes fill with hot tears whenever he starts to sing? It's a mystery, to me.

  • Ma does a wonderful job but Taylor has absolutely mutilated a great song here.

  • This just slays. Kudos guys and thanks for posting.

  • 5 STARS! :-)

  • great examples of two different types of musical brilliance

  • A....masterpiece...!

  • It does not get any better - JT and Yo Yo. Both wonderful artists.

  • Long time JT fan. This is gold. He gets better with time. Doesn't seem possible.

    But it's true.

  • Que pura vida...que hermoso

  • :)...yeah,try to frown while Yo Yo Ma and James Taylor bring the sun.

  • WOW! That is what collaboration is all about. MASTERPIECE!

  • nice vocals james! brother yo yo ma, wonderful too! viva la música!

  • wonderful collaboration gives a new twist to this old familiar song

  • @ScotsLass10, Wasn't the documentary amazing ? They are still showing more on PBS. Together they sound so great.

  • beautiful arrangement and it's clear that the two are digging their sound. JT's my fave but I still prefer the Beatles version although yo yo mas cello is so sweet sounding.

  • he looks like randy couture... but the voice is outstanding! a real k.o hehe!

  • outstanding!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Thank you Yo Yo Ma and James Taylor for your outstanding music! You can just 'feel it'.

  • James Taylor...nuF said!

  • Nossa... Maravilhoso, sem palavras, estou apatetado.... =D

  • love the beatles and i think this is just great :D they're both amazing!

  • what a mix of human talent! So sick!

  • beautiful

  • Love them Both. I seen a documentary on yo yo's Geneology and it dates back to the Ming Dynasty! WOW!

  • what a love of open change - such beautiful players in the world...thanks for sharing your passion and joy of the arts - music that feeds us all...

  • classical and self thought are cool together

  • I envy Yo-Yo Ma so much :(

  • Wow really beautiful Thanks Yo-Yo and James : }

  • why does james taylor sing like a robot?

  • @slightreturn17 yeah like an irish robot really

  • I love both Yo Yo Ma and James Taylor and hearing them together on this song is a bit of heaven!

  • Great original and great remake!

  • Beautifull!!!

    Saludos desde Salta - Argentina

  • WOW! Awesome!

  • i dont care for it

the george harrison verision is better

they kind of lost the main melody to the original song

  • great version of it

  • If a chello could sing it would sound like James Taylor a few steps lower.

  • OMG! You are so right! : )

  • As a JT fanatic I'm am biased, but I think this is a beautifully crafted arrangement of a great song. Strings have always meshed well with Jame's sound.

  • Both AMAZING talents. James Taylor's a LEGEND! If you say they're missmatched, you don't know J.T. James Taylor sells out every where he play's. I've seen him 7 times.

  • I'm with you!

  • This sounds really cool as a waltz. i like it

  • Overmatched! Do you think Yo Yo Ma would waste time collaborating and recording with a musician that he didn't totally respect and love to play with ... think about it...

  • @jazznthgreen I have been a huge fan of both Yo Yo and JT for longer than I like to remember. So, it seems perfectly natural to me that two gifted musicians, who have been constantly searching for those things that unite people, and who have spread love and goodwill through their work would collaborate. The mutual respect is palpable in this performance.

  • @jazznthgreen I think both of these guys are two of the greatest musicians of all time, but I think this is very average. I don't feel that passion from either of them that really makes their music show, especially in this day and age. James has higher standards, as does Ma.

  • Beautiful.

  • brucefetter obviously knows nothing about JT...who not only reads music fluently, but is also an accomplished composer. He's considered to be one of the greatest of the past 50 years.

  • Somebody writes JT is overmatched?? Give me a break! If you knew the breadth of his guitar and studio knowledge, it's remarkable. Reading music is for people who follow. Writing and playing it are the true artists of the world. Make no mistake, there aren't many better artists than this dude! McCartney was pretty proud introducing him to the RR HOF. Have to say, still like Harrison's better, but this is an awesome interpretation!

  • Beautiful. Better than the original.

  • i have to disagree nothing is better then george harrisons version

  • @bellportlax24 I like both....AT THE SAME TIME.

  • superfregon yyo y james

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting this.

  • Yeah, I totally felt that too when it went up high. This was so great!

  • 2:14 yo yo ma's face here is priceless. so much joy and peace. this is truly inspirational

  • There's light in here..

  • It's strange but I actually get the same feeling...I felt kind of depressed this morning, but just listening to this my mood somewhat changed. This indeed is a gift

  • No matter how you slice or dissect it... two Musical Masters are at work here. Beautiful!

  • I like James Taylor and have no argument with Yo Yo Ma"s genius but Beatles songs should best be left to the Beatles.

  • James Taylor seems a little over matched.

  • Get real!

  • Taylor is like, "well, yeah you could do that even though I have no idea how to read music. I am just rpretending to know what you are talking about." Ok, that is a little harsh, but he's overmatched.

  • Extraordinarily harsh! "Classically trained" is not necessarily superior, but different. James, as a guitarist within his genre, is every bit the artist and scientist that Ma is. If, indeed, you have missed the point of this, they are COLLABORATING! Look to bcooly11 below if you don't understand me.

  • yeah i agree it does sound a lil strange for a remake of that particular song

  • lol.....im doing this for homework

  • i saw him in concert today, i twas beyond amazing

  • Awesome. James Taylor was one of the first singer / songwriters signed to APPLE records, when the Beatles were running it, so this interpretation is fascinating. Gorgeous. What can you say about Yo Yo Ma except fabulous. Peace and thanks to both artists, and to George Harrison, who wrote the song.

  • this video is in every single way:ESSENTIAl for those who wants to learn interpretation!!!Thank you James and Yo Yo...

  • amazing...to have two TOTAL DIVE together in one room...i would have been on my knees and praising the lord every second i was a fly on the wall xx

  • Great artists, great song! I'm delighted...there's no more words, just tears of joy!

  • Sounds a little strange in 6/8 but the well known riff, though changed sounds fluid and, well, nice :-) JT's voice and picking can carry anything.

  • Very nice!

  • Wonderful interaction between two great artists...

  • omgod. no way. bliss

  • I think it's funny when people try to explain impossible musical concepts to another person. Notice all the stuttering and hand talking in the beginning. But it still turned out AMAZING!!

  • I love it as Yo Yo Ma's cello sings.....absolutely mesmerising.....

  • This is such a beautiful song.. its the ringtone on my phone. What more can you ask for - George, James & Yo-yo..

  • So beautiful! Yeah, it's alright...

May we have no worry, ... only joy, peace and happiness...

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs of George and like Something, the original version is unforgettable and the best ever because it has a happy feeling while your version is beautiful but a little bit sad.

  • yo yo ma is one of the finest examples of a human being....kind, respectful and god blessed...

  • Besides the fact that he is a very special and a good singer, she is also so similar to the Louis de Funès. :D!

  • how much work and effort, how many more years, but it is worth it, beautiful! Throw your bread top of the water, over the long run because you can find it again!

  • pinoys love u james...

  • Two great masters, we are fortunate to have them in our lifetime.

  • grazie James, accompagni discretamente la mia vita da 30 anni

  • James... lo has vuelto a lograr!!! Gracias!

  • Maravilloso. Muchas gracias.

  • James, I love you for always for when the sun arrive!...

  • i got a book of yo yo ma its call yo yo ma musical superstar

  • Äntligen

  • so lovely harmonies...

    thank you...

    greets from germany

  • Two genius ! wonderful song

  • I'd never heard about this version: it's wonderful! I think George Harrison would be very pleased.

  • i love the cello part and the alteration to 3/4 isnt bad in my opinion but im not diggin the vocals. its just my thought, so dont be all pissy saying that "i just dont get it" cause i like elements of the piece and i've no problem with how much they changed, but i just disagree with how he enunciates certain syllables. again its just my very, very amateur opinion.
