they are the same person so technically they have the same voice, but Katherine speaks with more malice and her tone is normaly more manipulative while Elena's voice is more kind.

somewhere is season 2 it was said that Elena is the 3rd doppleganger, which means Katherine was the 2nd. This gives the idea that Nina Dobrev will have to play the original one because we don't know much about the first one that was used against Klaus. Even in Season 3 it doesn't say how Klaus's mother, Esther, the Original Witch, used the Original Doppleganger to put the curse on Klaus.

Ok, Elena is Katherine's doppelganger right? In 1492 Katerina was about to be sacrificed in order to break the curse, then she must have been a doppelganger too....A doppelganger is ussually the opposite of what the person is....Katerina was human in 1492...would that mean that her doppelganger was evil or a vampire?....That's one of the things I could never figure out....

@butterscotch1997 no what happened is in order for klaus' werewolf side to become dormant they had to bound his werewolf side which included using the original petrova doppleganger and that was way before katherine exsisted so she isn't the original doppleganger there was another but she died in the original sacrifice so klaus was only a vampire and he couldn't transform into a werewolf.but yes there is a possibility of seeing nina play a third character.

@butterscotch1997 maybe the original doppleganger was smart enough to have had vampire blood in her system when she died and she became a vampire or maybe we will see her in flashbacks ...you never know anything seems to be possible with The Vampire Diaries.

I LOVE KATHERINE!!! she is my favorite character in the show! I can already start to see a little bit of katherine in Elena... Some of my friends say Katherine is a bitch, but theres a reason why she is the way she is. All the things she went through made her tough, strong and all she wanted to do was to survive, yes her actions were a little wrong, but again she did it all to survive. Shes an amazing character, shes very smart!
