I bought this cam JUST for this video! But luckily, its a REALLY good cam. I was in a state of confusion as many are here too, before buying this - My humble advice, don't waste your time trying to find which is the best Canon vs Nikon..etc.the differences will be rarely noticeable...just look at some sample videos on youtube and find out what lenses they use. I realized the importance of the lens after I bought this cam. Spend more on the lens and worry less about the cam. My 2 cents.

18mm x 1.62 crop factor = 29mm shot. Thats very narrow in my opinion. You'd need a 17mm to get anything decent and the only good travel zoom cameras have issues. The Canon 17-85mm has only f4. The 17-70 sigma makes a clicking noise constantly as you change the aperture which is useless for video. The only option I see is the 17-50 Tamron but that is only x2.9 zoom which is even worse than the kit lens. Anyone any recommendations please!? My head is recked looking for anything good.

@simon44 I have a 22-55mm canon lense from a 300d (wide angle) at that is amazing for video. If you dont need the zoom, get a 50mm 1.8

@TheUberPeople It's a sample video with different (great) lenses done. n a lot of color correction involved. but to your question, the last lens shown was...18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 to advertise their kit pack( which includes this focal lens n is just for beginner)

@Nzeddy Pretty certain it picks up sound from a built in mic.

@Nzeddy It uses the inbuilt mic but it's quite pad quality. If you're gonna be shooting loads of video, you can buy an external mic and plug it directly into the cam.

@syahirahliese At college I've used both and they've all being used the same amount of time, The nikon cameras were fussy and confusing. Canons are much better marked and it's easier to get them back to where you had them in the first place. I'd say Canon all the way or Lumix, they seem to work quite well.

Just got mine in the mail today. The pictures are stunningly high quality and the video is amazing.For everyone saying they must have used a lot of lenses, well of course. This sample video has also been through post production, check 0:04 in the top left corner and you can see a slight framing. My initial reaction is that the camera is easily worth the money. What SD Card do you have? because I record my video on my canon t3i and it looks NOTHING like this, I can see the pixels, blurry and I don't know why... maybe because I have a 16 GB class 4 and it needs class 6 or higher... I bought on eBay a 32 GB class 10 Transcend brand SDHC, is that going to solve my problem?

Remember the sample video from CanonEurope for the 550d? Nowhere near as good as this even though it had the same potential video quality. The full potoential was not yet realised but after the vast number of high quality videos that appeared online, nothing less than this would suffice as a demo for the 600d.
