I absolutely love the show, but I feel like the writers created a bit of a plot hole: the entire concept of the show rests on the fact that Walter is too proud to accept help from his billionaire friend and former partner who openly offers to pay entirely for his chemotherapy. The idea that Walter would rather turn to serious crime rather than accept charity of any form is a little hard to believe for me.
@EinsteinEMP826 I think a lot of his actions have to do with the fact that he didn't expect to live at all, treatment or not. The goal was to leave his family with a pile of money, he only accepted treatment at all because of Skyler. He freaked out when he found out his cancer was in remission and beat the shit out of the heater in the bathroom. Did you see the one where he tells Walt JR about his dad dying of Huntingtons? All Walt cares about is how he will be remembered.
@EinsteinEMP826 Well you left out the part where his past comes up with Gretchen. Walter left her, and she and Elliot (her new lover) used his work to create a gigantic company. I'd be pretty fucking pissed off too if someone else used my research to become filthy rich and successful, so it's understandable he absolutely refuses to take money from them.
Combine that with Walt's already negative attitude about accepting donations and its 100% believable.
@SteveJawbs Yeah, you bring up a good point, but that's the thing: Walter was the one who left her and the company, kind of abruptly, if I remember right. If that was the case, I think it was pretty much acceptable for them to continue with Walter's work, if he just up and left.
And yeah, I guess combining Walters history with them and his established feelings explains it, but it just seemed weird for him to put his family in danger over pride. But I get it, people do irrational stuff everyday.
@Brianexe43 blasphemy! hahah, cant even compare the two really, Fringe is great but in a completely different way.. I will not deny that Breaking Bad definitely reigns supreme over all other shows
It's very hard to label Breaking Bad as the "best show ever", but it's certainly in that top league along with shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, The West Wing, Battlestar Galactica. It's very hard to compare them all as they're hardly like-for-like, but they do all have one thing in common (for me, anyway): they're addictive to watch!
Amazingly good show, although when he talks about the transformation of good character to bad, I think the Godfather is to some degree and example of what he's talking about.
I definitely think Walter is turning into a bad guy.... he hasn't completely turned yet but he's close. Letting Jane die because she knew his secrets was HORRIBLE. This show is absolutely amazing because it challenges the crap out of me. But walter is going bad for sure! EMMY #3 FOR BRYAN CRANSTON.......AND THE SHOW BETTER WIN. MAD MEN has enough awards by now
@Colmcilla yeah man but I could sympathize with walt a bit about letting jane die because 1, she would've used his money for more heroin and inevitably OD'd with Jesse, and 2, walt can't live with the guilt that he indirectly killed jesse. But still, now he lives with the guilt of letting jane die and inadvertently killing hundreds of people. Equalizer
I wouldn't say that Walt is becoming a "bad" person at all. Deep down he's still the guy he's always been he's just in a drastically different environment and has adapted suitably. So not that groundbreaking. It's still the best show on air though.
Please say it comes onto major TV channels repeatedly soon. It's on FX but only the first season, and episodes are on like once a week. In my opinion it's up there with the best TV shows at the moment.
yeah but he keeps getting dirtier and digging a deeper hole for himself after the show keeps going after robbing the money train and then the massive cluster fuck to cover it up where they frame a guy and end up burning his body to cover up evidence
Nah, the way I see it Vic stays more or less the same during the course of the show. Shane on the other hand transforms to a truly
tragic antihero. And Goggins' performance is a marvel to watch after season 3 or so. Imagine if he got cast for Breaking Bad S3. That would be something.
one of the best tv series ive ever watched if not the best.

Walt Jr. seemed to have lost some weight over the seasons, I think he just took it out and injected it right into Skyler.
TheMMALifestyle 2 months ago
This is tied with The Wire as the best show ever. Mad Men, Sopranos and Rome trail a bit behind.
