  • So Lovely. Puts one in a sunset state of mind.

  • You are so very talented!

  • This is beautiful playing! You have a gift.

  • Hō ka nahenahe! Mahalo i ke kaʻana mai i kou mau noʻeau.

  • who is this girl?! She is an amazing musician!

  • Sounds great, a different change around 2:10 though, not sure if I like the way it sounded. I do like all the rest!!

  • I have yet to put my finger on it, but there is something intrinsically happy about this tuning. I can sit for hours and just open string strum, but adding in this style of playing... wow :) If my playing does reflect my soul, I hope to one day play like this.

  • @germromeo Don't know if she messaged you or not. She may not know because she said in another video that she doesn't know what chords she uses a lot of the time, but to me it sounds like taro patch. Do you know if I'm right, Rachel?

  • Ho.. So nahenahe !! You have a CD out already? How many pieces have you written? Who's your Slack Key Instructor? I like your style of Ki ho'alu.... it reminds me of Keola Beamer's style of Slack Key! :P

  • Very nicely done. I do know the origins of this piece (see below) and I look forward to hearing more as you grow.

"A musician is amongst the closest to god for they reproduce the sounds of the heavens."

  • beautiful da music is da lady.. Lovely fingers ... wish I was younger.

  • How long would it take a beginning guitar player to learn how to play slack key? Thanks for sharing your pieces..lovely!!

  • @brnbear99 Hmm, actually slack key was one of the first things I learned on guitar. It's really up to you how long it takes. Practice, dedication, discipline. That's really all it takes! You could probably learn some in one day easy!

  • @akakaka - hey this is a nice surprise !! Thank you so much for replying. Of coarse you must visit here. Make it soon so I can listen to your wonderful talent. I am searching to buy some of this slack key music but no luck so far. Keep contact please if you dont mind.

  • that minor chord at 1:51 was awesome. And I loved your use of harmonics as well.

  • This is a lovely piece. Thank you for sharing your talents and creativity!

  • Wow, Na Nalu o Ke Kai!! I totally envisioned the waves of the ocean, and then when it slowed down, and went into the minor chords, I imagined the sun setting, and it was night time, and then at the end, it reminded me of the sun rising in the morning just hitting the horizon on the sea... thanks Rachel, absolutely beautiful!!!

  • sweet! sounds so peaceful

  • wow.. very beautiful young lady.. It's very heart warming to see the younger generations take appreciation to hawaiian music and culture..

im glad to see that there are young adults out there that engage in things OTHER THAN green bottles..

    keep up the good work!

  • Thank you for sharing your talent. It's a beautiful song.

  • Raechel, I didn't know that was you at first. No wonder this is so good. I recall you from your Keali'i Reichel song and others. Hey people, take note of this one. She plays, she sings and she writes her own music as well. Hopefully we will see her in a larger scale someday.

  • Surfing through some Hawaiian music here, I came accross your video. So enjoyable to listen to, You can almost picture the movements of the wind and seas. A fabulous job you have done, and should think about doing a few more.

  • And either you are a f*** ,narrow-minded idiot who is completely shallow...OR a kid with a small weiner still learning how to use it and ONLY does that! If you are a female, then shame on you & YOURs should fall off one day!!!

  • And I am talking about the comment before me -YOU Samoriah! But YOU Akakaka play just BeAuTifully and symbolize the many talents and wonderful things about our island!!! :-)

  • lol it was a joke.

  • First of, i'd like to say you're playing is simply beautiful, it's actually kind of hard to type right now because i just want tsit back, relax and listen hehe. I've been playing alternate tunings for about a year now, but i've never tried this tuning before! With my tuning i have to remove the G string all together and then tune D A D A D or D G D G D. I love the harmonies you can get from the tuning you do though, i guess i'll have to buy a new set of strings and put my G back on :)

  • Merci pour ce beau voyage

  • Thank you VERY much for making this song too. I've been listening to it going on 5 weeks straight now.

  • I just learned how to play this song. Took me a couple days but I finally did it.

I am very satisfied in my life therefore.

  • Nicely done. Bravo!!! Beautiful instrumental.

  • ok maybe that was a little too deep....love your music!! :)

  • that is deep, but really beautiful and kind of you to say. :)

  • your music is bery moving. i really cant describe how i feel just by listening to you play and sing as well. its like an ethreal feeling like you want to grasp on to it forever, its like youre telling a story without words, only expressions that transfer from your joyous spirit to the strings on your guitar. much alohaz!

  • Mahalo! I love slack key and you play beautifully!

  • sweet!!

  • That was lovely, what's the tuning for slack key playing. Is it drop D or can it be different tunings ?

  • Thanks so much! It's a G tuning. If you look at earlier comments someone asked me the same thing and I went into more detail about it. :)

  • oh wow your great

  • cool.....[=

    how old are you?

  • i know this song, you did a really good job, grats

  • beautiful song

  • Just perfect.

    Medic96744

  • No danger of that now. Nearly did as people outside the ohana were not encouraged.

  • You are perfection. Your music is so beautiful!!

  • My sister erikaerin referred your channel to me. This song is pretty amazing. It sounds like something that would go good with nature sounds, like something you'd play at night before bed. Very relaxing.

  • You're amazing! Please post more! I just subscribed to you.

  • nahenahe keia. mahalo akakaka.

  • That was absolutely beautiful :}

  • Awesome girl!

  • I love this.....what tuning are you in?

  • I'm in Taro Patch tuning, which is a commonly used G tuning. mahalo for listening! and if you want more detail on the tuning let me know! God bless!

    -Rachel

  • Your welcome! I've done a little messing around with alternate tunings, but never heard of Taro Patch tuning. Yes, I would like more detail. Thanks, and God Bless!:)

  • In Taro Patch tuning the top string to the bottom string is D B G D G D. So all you do is drop the bottom E to D. And then the A string drops to D. The top E also drops D like the bottom one. Have fun with it! God bless!

  • Thank you! I'm gonna tune one of my guitars to this and check it out.....God bless you too, sweetie!

  • Beautiful playing beautiful girl!!!
