I like his paintings and some of the films. Midnight meat train had crap direction though. I require my realistic graphic violence (in film) to serve a philosophical purpose in relation to the plot. Nightmares should be inspirational.

a few in here are from the Abarat series. i loved those books, i wish i hadn't sold them on ebay. they are filled to the brim with great art by Mr. Barker. i just can't wait for him to publish the Scarlet Gospels. the main story is gonna deal with PinHead and Harry D'Amour.

clive barker is brillaint. he has a sick and twisted mind expasley in his writing but i love what he comes up with. his mind is so great that he could make the most stupidest thing and make it so great and horrorfing that it will scare the shit out of you. just look at his books of blood. and his movie hellraiser.

As great as he is, I don't think he could do Silent Hill, it's just not his style.

His style is more about external torture and extreme blood and guts, whereas the Silent Hill brand of horror is more psychological torture.

That's where most western film makers make their mistake, they try to do Japanese horror, but they/we just can't pull it off, or get it right.

best leave J-Horror to the masters of Japanese horror in my opinion.
