Enjoyed seeing this post. That promo for the Worcester Centrum was a surprise. Was this taped from WSMW channel 27? Hard to believe, but Bundy is working as a stand-up comic now (as are Mick Foley and Colt Cabana). The jobbers were typical of their era - nondescript sacrificial lambs. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Bruno Sammartino on commentary. Bruno is my all time favorite wrestler, but he never should have attempted commentary. He was woeful. Still, a nice post.

It's amazing that Chris Pallies (aka "King Kong Bundy") is still alive today, in his 50's, at that size.

Andre The Giant and Jerry "Crusher" Blackwell and John Minton ("Big John Studd") died within about a year of each other at 46, 45, and 46.

Andre died from acromegaly (gigantism). Studd had cancer, I believe. Their deaths weren't strictly due to their size.

Yeah; Andre had Acromegaly; (and once he learned at a fairly young age that it was going to be fatal, he resolved to party-hardy for the rest of his life. His drinking is legendary.

John Minton ("Big John Studd") died of Hodgkins.

PS:  Paul Wight (aka "Big Show") was able to detect and regulate his Acromegaly before it spiraled out of control. He had the necessary surgery a few years ago. So, since he won't be growing more, hopefully he won't be another of the mid-40's wrestling deaths.
