  • Atleast you were bypassing, first mastering vid I have seen that.

  • @philateliceun I was doing this when i was 16 or something. I know its bad gime a break

  • @Middollo No he was complimenting you, he was saying thats a good thing. You are the first person he's seen to attempt some mastering, meaning you are good at what you do.

  • That Beat is really Cool.

  • Why did he say he got a "better version"? publish only "one" version... You get more respect that way. I'm just saying.

  • @CannedFunkMusic Please prevent yourself from posting comments that are completely irrelevant to audio production.

  • you should put a level meter at the end of your strip to check your peak and rms, more accurate and less annoying than those jumping lines

  • @faisal3920 This video is outdated. Check out my Mastering tutorial 2. Much Improved ;)

  • I wouldnt put the EQ after the final adaptive limiter though

  • @SubSonicSlapz Yupt you are right ! Very stupid move. Adaptive should have been the last in the chain there.

  • i dont know how nobody on the internet can answer this simple question: when i bounce a song to mp3 into itunes, it is always the same, very low volume and is not very audible (clearly itunes is the problem) - where do i bounce a project to so that I can later open it in itunes without effecting the loudness or quality of the song?

  • @wooziegrillz Wow this is not realy making sense to me :D Well if the itunes is the problem just run the track through a diferent player like VLC. But i dont think thats the problem for you really. Why dont you just bounce the track into waw format 24 bit 44.1 k. Btw try updating your itunes just in case :D.... And if that still doesnt work contact me and we will do a teamviewer session and sort the problem out.

  • @wooziegrillz thats caused by normalizing when you bounce it...atleast thats what happened to me when you bounce your stuff make sure normalize is off :D

  • @wooziegrillz Play Big's "Long Kiss Goodnight" & view it on a Meter. (Audio Highjack Pro w Voxengo Span if you need an app for that. You'll see that it peaks at ~-.5dbfs. Now, HiJack the song in iTunes, and it should peak at ~ -6db if you have on itunes' crappy "sound check" and/or "sound enhancer." Turn that crap off, and give it 2-4 seconds - then verify (from the peak meter) that the decibel level reaches ~ -.5dbfs - just like in Quicktime or your DAW! Good Luck!

    Now, make some music!

  • if you have a computer made in the last 2 years don't bother bouncing before mastering it'll cause you no end of issue when you come to recalling projects for clients.

  • so do you have to bounce your track before mastering? is it preferrable? thanks

  • @MrNABnovice As you can see i did it. If you have lots of stems and automation going on it is a good idea to bounce your track down before mastering to go easy on the latency but you certainly dont have to! :)

  • But if you still want to get into that famous loudness war what i would do is go easy on the low end during the mixing process, dont let it robb you of that head room.... you can in fact just chop straight down from 60hz as you dont rly hear that in the club system. Secondly I would probably use PSP Xenon (deadly Limiter better than waves probably) and get yourself a good multipressor ( the L2 should do) and completely bypass your low end when compressing. (thats just what i would do..)

  • I enjoyed the video, but how do you get your track louder after the intial mastering step? You wouldn't, for instance, be able to play that song against professional tracks when DJing (by the looks of your output)

    Thanks. I enjoyed the vid!!

  • @wedrowned What i could have done is just push the limiter ceiling a bit higher and i would have achieved that loudness you are looking for BUT although the DB meter is telling you there is no distortion, the track starts to sound properly Sh*t in comparison to quieter version. My opinion is that you can always turn your gain up on the dj mixer but you cannot turn it down once it has been pushed to its limit on the mastering session no?

  • @Middollo Good point. I've been using mastering plug ins, but you've inspired me to try it myself; there are waaay too many unwanted frequencies/sounds when using presets.

  • @wedrowned Presets ar probably the biggest mistake when it comes to mastering. Just trust your ears my friend... do what sounds good for YOU. You WILL make mistakes but you WILL learn. All the best ! :)

  • Nice one, helped me quite a bit :)

  • Thank you ! This is very basic stuff. Mastering is not a process that can be put into a 4 minute video... but anywayz.... =]

  • Good job , bravo. Nice and clean.

  • Bravo
