@HesTNTonPMS For it's time. Check the calender it's 2012 now and to each time is their own version of Superman. That's how he's lasted so long. If they stayed with one version forever we would still have the origial 1930's version, the one that didn't fly but jumped far, the one with human level strength, no other powers and a suit that looked like he made it himself at home. Think that would be popular now? :)

I will never be able to forget watching Superman for the first time with my Father who was also a big fan of the original Superman George Reeves.

I don' know how my father felt leaving the movie theater but for me as a child of about 7 or 8 years old , I remember dreaming and wishing I could fly and wishing I could be Superman.

I think they had a pretty tough debate over his trunks, some people in the production insisted that they keep it, it's iconic and so on, but others (and I think Zack Snyder were among them) wanted a different Superman, and getting rid of his red pants was prob the best way of telling a new story. I'm still shocked though, Snyder said he was influenced by two comic book artists, Curt Swan & Jim Lee.. but they drew him with his pants on.

Alot of ppl are complaining about the underwear which i understand its iconic but dont let that ruin the movie. Look at the new Batman movies, they were great! But when Batman started and even this day ppl see him starting out in the gray suit and black underwear. But the movie did not even make the suit anything like that, and it worked. I neither upset or happy they took the underwear out, I just want to see how the story in the movie lives up to Superman

I wont bother getting upset. I KNOW this movie is going to suck. It has the wrong people involved in it. Oddly enough, the guy that is suited to make a super man movie (both to write it and direct it) is directing "The Avengers" movie. Joss Whedon really invest himself into comic books, but at the same time can translate it into a movie. Zach Znyder dont know shit about movies or comic book movies. The watchmen was terrible. So was sucker punch.

I always find it funny how fans pick at things wenever the new look of Superman comes along. I often wonder what exactly must the very early fans, of the original comic book Superman of the early 1940s must think of how Superman has evolved through the decades lol. Red Blue and Yellow like the Brandon Routhe  one. They also high lighted his wrist bands and streaks along his costume (torso) red and yellow. To represent where red underwear and yellow belt use to be. That one looks great.

Christopher Reeves played Clark Kent so well and had a lot of Charisma as Superman. However, I think Cavill actually looks the closest to how Superman would appear in live action, with the exception of the red trunks missing.
