Faster than a speeding bullet, change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, but yet he was unable to change Lois's mind on Clark Kent. Hmmmm interesting.
The show was an absolute monster hit and and the typecasting utterly wrecked George Reeves career. After the show was mostly shot he landed a major role in "From Here to Eternity" with Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra. But his scenes were mostly edited out *after* preview audiences started catcalling and cracking up.
Why dont y'all move to some backwater cesspool nation if you dont like the American way? If one of you commie fools had enough guts to do so, then you can get the good dose of violence that these lowlife foreigners can dish out and wish you had never left the best place on the (Daily) Planet. Outsiders risk life and limb to get to the U.S., and I may add that they have more brains than the morons posting on this page.
The American way had to brainwash with politics don't think that introduction would work so well to sell over seas did they change it to syndicate in Europe and Asia?
@kd6rxl They still have reruns of this nearly 60 years later guess they never thought people would still be watching. However for any newer shows they produce they should consider the possibility people might still be watching 60 years later Space 1999 was a hit at the time but date is so outdated today what do they call it in reruns Just Space?
Because he was raised from infantcy to believe in the american way, and thus he believes it. That's why everyone believes in i, for that matter. Also, it's better fer ratings.
Things surely have changed by 2011 ..Superman was a t.v. hero along with some cowboy shows we were headed for better times, more advertising, shorter showtimes, ratings now THATS what its all about...to bad isn't it ?
@ace69er Yeah showing kids violence on tv, all the westerns had gun fights almost every episode but years later Little House on Prarrie, Dr.Quinn Medicine woman, and Paradise showed you could have successful westerns without always having violence.
Superman was my favorite TV show as a kid. I remember it came on a 7 p.m. One night in October of 1955 my mother insisted I do my school homework, and I told her I would do it after Superman went off. She said it didn't come on until 7:30 p.m. and made me do my homework. When I finished at 7:30 the show was playing the closing credits. I got so mad I told my mother I was running away from home, which I did and got about one mile away before she caught me. She learned her lesson that night!
To ziggtrap999. You just don't get it. Go to school shit for brains, then you might enjoy the old classics and appreciate the time/year inwhich they were made.
Despite the primitive special effects, etc., this show is what helped make the 1950s so exciting for us when growing up as kids in that era. Innocent years - nostalgia! TV back then and into the 1960s was so superior to the crap on now. LG
@flapdoodle64 WELL THATS JUST HATING EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT. WHY DO YOU INSTANTLY HATE EVERYTHING THATS NEW THAT YOU HAVENT SEEN YET? DO YOU KILL BABIES OR SOMETHING? THE DARK KNIGHT WAS AWESOME. THEYRE IN SOME WAYS SEPARATE SERIES AND DO THEIR OWN THING. BESIDES WOULD YOU REALLY WANT A VERSION REMADE IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AGAIN? JUST WATCH THE ORIGINAL VERSION. OR IN THIS CASE OLD VERSION. NOT OLDEST. OLD=GOOD, NEW=BAD. VERY BINARY IN YOUR THINKING. THAT IS THE ABSENCE OF CRITICAL THOUGHT.
Good old b/w Superman , from a wonderful time ,being a kid. Its so good to see and hear this again. We must have seen every episode at least 20 times, from the 1950's into the 1970's.
When I was a teenager, I recorded this theme, on a very good cassette player with great speakers. I went downtown on a busy Saturday afternoon, turned up the volume, stood by the tallest bldg , and turned it on!! I had a crowd of 100 people looking up into the sky laughing!! People told me they loved it! It was a blast!!
In the original syndicated opening, announcer Charlie Lyon, at :02, introduced the show this way, as a "Kellogg's presents" title appeared- "KELLOGG'S, 'The Greatest Name In Cereals', presents...'THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN'!'".

This show is 100 times better than 'Superman Returns' and will still 100 times better than the next piece of crap Warner Bros. churns out.
