I used to listen to plenty of DW's songs on my dad's phonograph long time ago and i always appreciated his voice...it still sounds good to listen to it over and over....thanks for sharing this video.
one of the best singers in all life time, so much heart and soul in these songs .... i grew up on this kind of music Alot of good childhood memories ...
ACtually there is some good modern country. Josh Turner for example sings about love, God and Family. Cant get anymore country than that..Oh and he has a song with a train.
Don, you are my hero every song of yours i can relate to i remember going to a couple of your concerts when i was small with my dad i hope i get the privelage to see you in concert again. it would be awesome to meet you...you probly wont read this comment because who watches videos of theirself??? makes me feel good though... does anybody know when he is coming to Rupp arena n kentucky or anywhere in indiana because i would love to see him
what a great voice of a great countrysinger, don can bring back the good old times of country music. you can listen to him if you feel happy oder feeling sad, no one can do this like don. great man of country
Thank You for letting us know he will be peforming in Akron Ohio next month. I will make it a point to be there. It's actually only an hour drive for me .
If you had not mentioned it I certainly would have missed seeing him !!!
I heard this music with my father when I was around 10 or 11 years old. He loved the old country music. I lost Pops 11 years ago. And now I find myself missing him, and the only thing that gives me comfort, is the fact that I remember the music I listened to with him.
I'm South African and listened to Dolly, Kenny and Don while growing up. These are timeless classics. 40 years from now I'll still be listening to this. Thanks to those Radio DJs who had the sensibility to play country music even though it was one show a week. now we have Youtube to indulge ourselves. My favourite country song has to be Dolly Parton- Eagle When She Flies "gentle as the sweet magnolia.......) :)
We use to listen to him on the T-Heads in Corpus Christi and he knew us then. I saw him at Fool's Gold in Houston back in the late 70's and he had totally changed personality wise.
But as far as a smooth country voice, I don't think there's any better and he'll always be one of my favorites.
As a kid, I had a radio on my bed side stand, and when this song would put me to sleep in a heartbeat! From Marietta, GA, on 101.5, the station used to be WBIE, a two person operation. I loved that station so much, but when the owner/operator passed away, that was a sad day in the Atlanta area. Now it's Kicks 101.5. They're OK, just miss hearing some of the classic Country songs. They only play the current stuff.
My mom loved Don Willams. Listened to him all the time when I was a young man. Listening to him now I can relate to everything he sings, everything he feels and at the same time remember what it was like to have my mother. So thank you Mr. Williams and thank you mom for.....well for being you.
We are listening to this album all week! I grew up to this music and have to say...He is so smooth! My kids love this and sing right along the way I always did and still do!
what happened to all the real artists in the world....im not too old (erhem) but there just doesnt seem to be much music with any feeling anymore...not heart on sleeve stuff anyhow...nice video...first time ive heard these guys, thankyou.
@lenard1977 I fully agree Len. The sad part is I believe that the music of a generation represents their values, their morals, and what is most important to hold on to in life. Pending a major change, I don't see this style coming back any time soon. Lets hope some young kid can reintroduce the classics showing the simple joys rather than the quick and fleeing joys of life. There is hope though. I've known 18 year olds in the Army who love this old style best. I'm 25, but one of them :)
Don Williams has one of the most soothing voices in the world. He's always been a favorite of mine. I'm 28 now and I bought my first Don Williams Cassette at 14.
@grsparkes so right. i am 52 and i have been listening to him for lord knows how long. today i am sad for a very personal reason and simply Don Williams' voice has poured peace into my heart.
haahh what a memories when I was drving my old international truck back in 1980 and what I left in guadalajara mexico thank for bring me back those moments
listen to the radio now. the dont play country like it was back then i call the stuff they play on the radio now poptry i think theres 2 much money that influences the music industry
"He was my best friend in 1977. What happened? You did... Canada! But what has happened since. Gorden Lightfoot. Stomping Tom. Where as the Music Gone. Don`t you dare.`
Don Williams is the heartbeat of country music. His music bridges over generations and distance. He was the last true country music star...before pop became an influence in it.
This song brings back some many memories of times i spent with my dad, We would just listen to the radio, good memories, thanks don, for the great music.
Zimbabwe -> Bulawayo-> Southworld. Reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, Mary. She introduced me to Don Willams songs and "Thanks a lot. You were ahead of my time, sorry"
I recall in the early 1980's there was a German language version of this, something titled "Unser Lieber Radio". Hat jemand in Deutchland das Lied? (Does anyone in Germany have that song). Geben Sie bitte das Lied auf YouTube bekannt!! Danke im voraus! (Please post the song on You Tube. Thanks in advance).
Im in a carefully selected group of musicians who are playing this type of music and not altering in any ways, making it sound as right as the actual singer , Don is one of my best voices , next vern gosdin, jim reeves, george strait, moe bandy, . . .
dude hes not barefoot, hes wearing buff colored boots.
my favorite line of this song is:
"i try to find a way to explain to you,
whats on my mind,
and not sound so plain to you."

@Tennesseanyankee I agree with you. The kids today, the music, everything is phony, not real. The golden
age of country was also during the golden age of rock and roll. They didn't rely on computers, all sorts of
computer generated background, and loud almost yelling music. I guess the slower, gentler, real times have
past. I hope they come back because I think the kids of today are missing a whole lot.
