@coastermania17 - Players just chose 5 letters and 1 vowel. Seems people over time for some reason kept picking r,s,t,l,n, and e. So a few years later, they instituted the current bonus round format with r,s,t,l,n, and e already given, and the player picks 3 more consonants and 1 vowel
this is why that TV Network is so Cold Harded by not airing the Friday Finals Episode of the Daytime Wheel of Fortune and that is a crying Shame What the Network did back in Dec. 26 1986 what a Cold Harted Decided on Something Else
I wish GSN would air the daytime Wheel from the 80s as opposed to the mid 90s like they are right now. While NBC erased most of the Woolery episodes, I'm pretty sure that all the episodes from 1982 onward(after Vanna joined) are intact.

How I miss the Merv Griffin Enterprises logo after WOF! Those were the days before Columbia TriStar Television took over, but what the hey, they're still doing a good job as Sony Pictures Television anyhow! R.I.P. Merv Griffin!

Hey y'all, meet this user named "keyholder83", who always like to pick fights and cause a lot of flame wars with other users, always callin people "loser" and whatnot.
Yeah, but contestants weren't winning the bonus round very much back then because those were the letters they always chose because R S T L N E are the most commonly used letters in the English alphabet. So to make it easier and more fair to the contestants they decided to start giving the contestants R S T L N E and would ask them for 3 more consanents and 1 more vowel. One of the best improvements ever made on Wheel of Fortune. The 4 letters I usually see them pick now are C D M A.
It didn't happen often, but they sometimes did, about the same frequency as putting money on account. If you were playing for the grand prize of the day, you had a more difficult puzzle (I think, might have just been the case with Star Bonus), so the less-common choices may have been good.
I was thinking she was gonna get it! I got it immediately! I hate how the forces of fate block the puzzle from coming into your head! LIke I've said before, women from the 80s are HOT!
I only taped a few special night ones, like the Atlanta Olympics, one in Chicago, and the 4000th. I got a Woolery one from a trader, but the video quality's only fair. There should be a few on youtube. I'm not a big taper or trader, by any means.
It's about time someone bought those adorable Christmas teddy bears! I was also wondering what that lithograph was...the circus...that's pretty cool. Great video, Tom! :-)

At 1:46, Valerie asks,"How much are the phones? I can't see it. I'm sorry." No wonder, in all the excitement she forgot to put her glasses on.

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but I think I speak truth when I say that back then telephone's were definitely a TEEN girl's best friend.

Why does the shopping Cue sound so much like The Price is Right cue for one of their games in the Daytime version?

If a contestant did not choose R S T L N E back then they literally would have been screwed.

Yeah, but I have seen bonus round wins when the contestant picked C and M instead of L and N.

You are the best WHEEL OF FORTUNE taper of Youtube. Hey, do you have any episodes of Nighttime WHEEL OF FORTUNE?

Or better yet, how about some classic daytime "WOF" with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford? I'm talking "old-school" here!
