  • Loyd has no reflection :D

  • One of my fave scenes of all time

  • Jack Torrance asked for BOURBON with a glass of ice. A GOOD bartender would know that BOURBON originates from KENTUCKY and that jack daniels is sipping whisky and is NOT BOURBON. dammit stanley cant you get ANYTHING right!!!!!

  • This movie is so scary!!!

  • the best movie ever fucking made !!

  • How does Jack know the bartenders name? I don't recall it mentioned at the beginning like Grady was, and he isn't wearing a name-tag. Something I always wondered.

  • For me a ZUBROWKA with Ice.

    Thanks, Lloyd.

  • 2 people are out of their fucking minds.

  • @cripplehawk

    3. 4 counting the nigger cook.

  • Jack is speaking to Tyrell from the Tyrell corporation. sorry im getting confused

  • @TURBODORK2 hee-hee-hee i saw blade runner after this and when he came up i shat my fucking pants XD

  • 3:00 Terrible bartender, he asks for bourbon and the bartender gives him Tennessee whiskey. Tisk tisk

  • @ajatkinson2004 Wow, you'd think Kubrick would have caught that.

  • jack drinking jack :)

  • yasss! my names Lloyd!

  • this movie is pur golden cold sweat .

  • The music is enough to drive you insane.

  • The book is much scarier.

  • @marilynmad98 I disagree

  • @marilynmad98 it comes down to what scares each person. even king himself said it's like the funny bone - something will scare a person a whole lot more than another person. just a matter of what pushes your buttons really.

  • The music in this is similar to there will be blood's soundtrack.

  • WHITE MAN'S BURDEN, MY MAN LLOYD, WHITE MAN'S BURDEN!

  • Are you out of your fucking mind!?

  • This movie blew my mind as a kid, cause there was nothing like it.

  • @SwaggerLikeUz too fuckin right and no scene proves it more than this one in my opinion. i take it that it's your favourite film then? if so, it's a more than worthy call.

  • @thatfilmgeekguy Great reply man, its has to be my favorite horror film for sure. The whole cast was great, and whole feel of this classic was just perfect. Aye imagine being stuck in Colorado during that winter with Jack and those apparitions everywhere. Man I would of been going insane lol.

  • unbelievable!!!!

  • I feel like having a jack daniel's on the rocks after this

  • @10razonesgh as you might know, the original novel shows that the middle name of jack torrance was "daniel". thus it was jack daniel (torrance) drinking jack daniel's ( whiskey ).

  • @coventrygardens well that's new to me since i'm not quite familiar with the original novel. thanks for the info. cheers

  • @10razonesgh yes me too in fact the whole movie is briliant its a peice of art :D

  • 0:06-0:24 That was me walking out of X-Men The Last Stand.

  • @sharkboy85 too fucking funny, man XD 0:06-0:24 yep, in my case, it would be my reaction to the oscars pretty much every year.

  • As Charming As Film Gets. -

  • So Frightening, So Hilarious. ~

  • funny how this film wasnt filmed at the ACTUAL Stanely Hotel

  • A-Family Classic

  • holy shit 1:25 amazing fucking acting job

  • "Portland Oregon for that matter"

Did Jack Nicholson just improvise about that the filming place "Timberline Lodge" lies in Oregon?

  • Is he really talking to a ghost or is he talking to himself? [Post what you believe]

  • @BNLStudios He's talking to the devil :)

  • @tyrannize365 No, he's talking to a ghost, lots of them at The Overlook Hotel. And they get very interested when he says he'd sell his goddamned soul for a glass of beer,

  • I remember seeing this in the movies when it first came out, and when Jack say's "are you out of your fucking mind" the whole moviehouse roared out loud!

  • that was three damn years ago that litle fucker throw the papers

  • JACK DANIELS, THE BEST WHISKEY!!!!!!!

  • He was supposed to have 6 martinis (martians) in the book...

  • One of his best performances. In terms of actors, there's Jack Nicholson, a few others worth mentioning, and everybody else...

  • The one thing I don't understand; when the people die in that house do they get their soul trapped in the painting? How did they all die there anyways. I remember something like this movie but there was a body wrapped in plastic was that a remake of this movie; also to help more it had a bald man.

  • @darkheat246 ..twin peaks?

  • @shivayavoda I'll google it see if it's what I'm thinking.

  • He asked Lloyd for bourbon and he poured him whiskey.

  • @doggskull same thing bro

  • @doggskull Bourbon IS whiskey. (So is Scotch, Irish, etc.) JD is made exactly like bourbon except for the charcoal filtering JD is famous for.

  • man i'd fuck Shelley Duvall just to have that whole place to myself.

  • the book explains that the middle name of jack torrance was daniel. thus, the scene at the bar shows jack daniel torrance drinking jack daniel's whiskey.

  • It's fucking Jack, motherfuckers!!! :D

  • Geez!! Lloyd looks fucking EVIL!!!

  • are you outta your fucking mind i'd like to drink with that cunt.

  • its amazing how amazing jack nicholsons acting skills are. and how lame are those from the actress playing his wife

  • @saintmaster22 I thought the actress was great at portraying the hysteria

  • Jack drinks Jack

  • Lloyd disliked this

  • He asks for bourbon, and gets Jack Daniel's? Not much of a bartender...

  • @blackwingangel04 Does the trick.

  • @LukeNAESA10 Jack isn't a bourbon, though. Hence my point. He asked for a bourbon, and he got Jack.

  • "a momentary loss of muscular coordination" I LOVE THE DIALOGUE OF THIS MOVIE

  • Lloyd: "So, what'll it be, Mr. Torrence?"

Jack: "Lloyd, give me a beer!"

Lloyd: "No. Not unless you kill your family."

Jack: "Why should I kill my family?"

Lloyd: "... Uh... They'd be much happier as ghosts."

Jack: "You don't look so happy."

Lloyd: "Oh I'm happy. I'm VERY happy! La la la la la la la, see? Now waste the family and I'll give you a beer!"

  • @Swinger2006

I'd need a lifetime supply of my favourite beer, or no deal.

  • is the bartender "tyrell" from blade runner???????? looks like him!

  • @ShereKhan77 Yes. It's him.

  • she is really ugly

  • @armidons Sure. That is why she is on the big screen, and you're trolling her youtube videos. Douche.

  • @jabrooonni your problem. talk to your

  • "Are you out of your fucking mind?"

  • Aspect ratio is wrong.

  • White man's burden, my man Lloyd, white man's burden..

  • 1:35-1:45 this probably scared the shit out of Lloyds when they saw this :D

  • @HotDamn70 Lol xD

  • one of my all time favorite movies

  • Anyone notice that Lloyd never blinks?

  • he kinda looks like hugh jackman here hunh??

  • Pause @ 1:45. LOL

  • A awesome Joker too

  • First video in a while that I've seen that has no dislikes! So refreshing!

  • @kbtrumpeteer LOOK WHAT YOU DID!!! LOOK AT IT!!!

  • @KeshnerfFilms Eeep! My bad!

  • Thumbs up if Ryan Connoly sent you!

  • Am I the only guy who thinks the young Jack Nicholson looks like Jack Black?

  • FILM RIOT!

  • So was Jack seeing Lloyd as is own reflection ? Meaning he was talking to himself ? I've read so much about what things mean in this film and I don't believe its as simple as 'Jack can see the ghosts and interact with them but his wife can't until the end when things go totally crazy'. Kubrick was too smart to make a simple ghost story

  • I love watching this scene while I drink, it's so comforting.

  • @maddash24seven ha. Whenever I open a new bottle of Jack Daniel's, I like to watch this scene.

  • @pugilistofpower Fuck yeah, dude. I hear that. "Give my goddamn soul. For just a glass of beer."

  • LMAO 1:35 that's my profile pic on facebook. lol

  • llyod always looked like Dr.Geobbels to me:D am i the only one??? O.o

  • I don't know if you guys realize but he drinks that drink at exactly 66 mins and 6 seconds of the running time of the film

  • @karolecampesine

cheers for pointing that out (bet you that beer was devilishly good ;)

  • Lloyd = the devil

  • JD isn't from bourbon, KY =p

  • com certeza um dos tres melhores filmes de terror da hiostoria do cinema

  • Phenomenal scene and film. The only reason this was not nominated for Best picture is because of how dark and sinister it is.

  • The fun part of this movie is wondering whether all this is happening only in Jack's head or if the place is really haunted. I think Stanley Kubrick went in the wrong direction when he included the other family members in the supernatural experiences.

  • Why would any dislike this?

  • the american version of this scene is rubbish

  • @1ranjeeves21 and whys that? i lovee this scene because of mr nicholsons performance its just awesome how can u not take your eyes off of him hes just born for this role ahaha and i aint being mean here but u kno haters gona hate and why u hatin? :P

  • @1ranjeeves21 This is an American movie smartass.

  • It was three god damn years ago!

  • this movie is special to me whenever i watch it i kind of go there, to the hotel, i enjoy it, i kinda wish i was jacks character, that might be fucked up

  • Does anyone else think that Lloyd is the creepiest character in the whole movie?

  • @TheIncredibleD1701 try the whole world!!!

  • @TheIncredibleD1701 I know, right? He gives me chills :I

  • lol I always loved the way Jack Nicholson waved his hands in the hall way, damn he looks huge in this movie, approximate height 6'

  • I think it's interesting that after he says he'll give his soul for a glass of beer that Lloyd show up wearing red which I believe symbolizes the devil. After he takes a drink, his whole demeanor changes as if he sold his soul.

  • @MrChuckles7272

I never thought of that, but you're right: notice how Loyd's ears give a horn-like presence.

  • @MrChuckles7272 Very good observation. Also why his money is no good in the next party scene when he tries to purchase a bourbon from Lloyd. He has already sold his soul.

  • @MrChuckles7272 That's an interesting translation. I'm only now getting an idea of what this movie was supposed to be about. That's interesting.

  • @MrChuckles7272 Good point.

  • @MrChuckles7272 Very interesting point, Thank You for pointing that out.

  • @MrChuckles7272 I don't 100% agree with this in it's entirety :) Red symbolizes Lust more than the devil. However. Lust is a related to sin. So I can see what you mean :). Very well noticed ^.^

  • @Internetaware surely the red is for blood? The history of murders throughout the hotel I thought. Like the bathroom scene they're talking about "correcting" their families etc..

  • @MrChuckles7272 Nice.

  • @MrChuckles7272 I love it when Jack takes his first drink in five months and the look that comes across his face......like its pure pleasure to take a drink in such a long time:)

  • I think it's interesting that after he says he'll give his soul for a glass of beer that Lloyd show up wearing red which I believe symbolizes the devil.

  • I'd actually give anything to be able to walk into that bar and order a drink. What a scene.

  • Stanley Kubrick + Jack Nicholson + Steven King = BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

  • that's how Jack acts when Lakers lose the game

  • Each time I see this scene I'm taken back to being early at the Hotel Del Coronado or the old Sky Room in the El Cortez Hotel in the late 60s...I used to go to dances then while at SD State Univ. and some scenes here in Shining sure bring back some memories....

  • its funny that the bartender from this was also in paths of glory and said "do not be afraid to ask for credit, for our way of refusing is a little polite. Here jack asks how his credit is.

  • nothing the god go biomechanics wouldn't forgive lol

  • at 1:18...Jack, you dont need your soul damned by God. nobody does.

3:00 since when did God automacially damn bartenders?

3:21 I didnt know the bartender's name changed from Llyod to ''God######".

3:31 does God damn a little boy's head?

WHO WROTE THIS SCRIPT FOR JACK ANYWAY?!! Whoever did either hates God or thinks God damns nearly everything to hell like Fred Phelps and Stan Madrak.

  • Hands down the best fucking acting on Jack side. I would have just handed the academy award right there and then just for this fucken scene.

  • *this* is exactly how an alcoholic gets drunk.

  • embedding disabled? BOOOOOO

  • @vectro242 Don't hate me. It's... I think Universal who has the claim on it. It's their fault. In a way.

  • Gotta love Lloyd wish there were more modern bartenders like him!!!!!

  • 3:32

  • Always wonder what he was saying in the hallway!

  • @rbain1865 He wasn't saying anything, just making crazy vocalizations.

  • 3:54 to 4:46

Tell me that doesn't look remarkably like Heath Ledger's Joker.

  • @ABinaryPrayer jack was first! dickhead

  • @FordFiestaMK1 Cool story bro. My whole point was that maybe this served as inspiration for Ledger's Joker. Which is especially interesting since Nicholson's Joker came first, and it's very possible Ledger drew on Nicholson for inspiration.

  • Actually, all Tennessee Whiskey is considered bourbon (by law as a matter of fact), though I gather there are those who do not consider it so (I, for example, have always considered it to be a type of mouth wash). I was simply pointing out that ordering bourbon and getting Jack Daniels is perfectly normal. Scotch is from Scotland (no american whiskey is scotch), all bourbon is american, and irish whiskey is, as you might imagine, only from Ireland.

  • god that bartenders smile is creepy

  • @xixRASBERRYxix

See "Blade Ruuner" if you haven't already.

  • Actually jack Daniels is technically not. This is from their FAQ. Is Jack Daniel's a bourbon? Jack Daniel's is not a bourbon - it's a Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel's is dripped slowly - drop-by-drop - through ten feet of firmly packed charcoal (made from hard sugar maple) before going into new charred oak barrels for aging. This special process gives Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey its rare smoothness. It's this extra step - charcoal mellowing -- that makes Jack Daniel's a Tennessee Whiskey.

  • Jack Daniels IS bourbon.

  • @gcstein Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey mate.

  • @gcstein the americans whiskeys are scotch the english are bourbon

  • I find it odd that he wants a glass of beer, orders a bourbon from Lloyd but gets a Jack Daniels...

  • at 3:03, jack says "timbuctoo". in the original book, the word was "barre". that's the name of some towns in new england. there's a barre in vermont, and the book mentions that the family lived in vermont before going to colorado.

  • 5:10 IROONNYYYY!!!

  • 1:44 The greatest LOL in cinematic history.

  • Jack's AWESOME ACTING!!! He should win the oscar!

  • I find it odd that Jack says "I'd give my goddamn soul for just a glass of beer," and orders bourbon (Jack Daniels) on the rocks instead.

  • @Yawehplaneswalker616, i think he meant that he wanted AT LEAST a beer, but he probably enjoys bourbon better

  • i love this scene, i would love to be Jack right there right now!

  • LLOYD IS THE BEST PART OF THE SHINING!
