I've read so much about what things mean in this film and I don't believe its as simple as 'Jack can see the ghosts and interact with them but his wife can't until the end when things go totally crazy'. Kubrick was too smart to make a simple ghost story

The fun part of this movie is wondering whether all this is happening only in Jack's head or if the place is really haunted. I think Stanley Kubrick went in the wrong direction when he included the other family members in the supernatural experiences.

Actually, all Tennessee Whiskey is considered bourbon (by law as a matter of fact), though I gather there are those who do not consider it so (I, for example, have always considered it to be a type of mouth wash). I was simply pointing out that ordering bourbon and getting Jack Daniels is perfectly normal. Scotch is from Scotland (no american whiskey is scotch), all bourbon is american, and irish whiskey is, as you might imagine, only from Ireland.
