@drunkcaterpillar you mind giving me a detailed outline of how that's done? i can't seem to find any tutorials anywhere. is there something at dvxuser already?
@dubiousdubi Well, for starters I set the output resolution to 720p, and then in the frame controls tab I cranked the resizing filter to highest quality. Not much more than that really, although getting the x264 encoder settings set just right took a while. I could explain in greater detail, but it'd take longer than I really have in a Youtube comment. Once I have the final film uploaded to Youtube I'll post a thread over on DVXUser, so be sure to check out the forums!
what did you use for your up-resing? it looks great.

@dubiousdubi I used the built in scaler in Compressor. I'd do it a little differently now, but it gave me pretty good results.
