Procter & Gamble, how could YOU! Why did you kill our show??? I'll pound my laundry on ROCKS before your products ever cross the threshold of our home!
For the last episode which we're all going to be totally devastated, it would be better if they use the "Hold on the love" theme (From 1991-2002) for the end of the last episode.
gosh this brings back memories,so many characters i miss - bridget/dylan/danny/michelle/ed/amanda/phillip/harley the list goes on and on. i especially miss michael zaslow. no doubt if he was still alive he'd be on the show. he was roger thorpe. now i liked the old dinah, but i think the new dinah is wayyyy better. i do agree though the 80's and 90's was the shows peek. very much focused on family. hopefully todays writers will look back on these times and realize what they are missing.
oh please,please,...if you have material about zachary(1997)and his last appearing, upload it!!! what happened to him? i was in the hospital and nobody could tell me about.
Also saw Jill Lorie Hurst here as "Assistant to the Writers." She's back now as Headwriter (replacing Kreizman) in a last-ditch effort to save GL from cancellation.
What stunning pictures those were of Vanessa and Lillian! Seeing Roger about makes me cry! I loved him so much. So sad about him and his family. And that Dinah! TOTALLY loved her! Loved this theme and them showing all the pictures! Thanks for adding this; I have been wanting to see it for years!
I luv the classics reminds u why u watch the particular and memories. It's so amazing to see how the chararters come and go and how some changed over the years
I found a version of this on the WoST site a while back and it was cut off (at about 1:14), as it was getting to my favorite portion (starting at about 1:00). I could've swore it was longer and I was right. Kudos for having the full version!!
My favorite closing version of "Hold on to Love'. For the most part I perfer the various arrangements of 'My Guiding Light,' but I rank this right up there with those ones. I just LOVE this arrangement!
it's still good, but i think soaps, all soaps, just aren't what they used to be.
sadly, times have changed & daytime is on it's way out:(
on a different note, i love how they show Reva at the very end. it's very fitting & just shows how true & loyal the show has stayed to it's classic characters.
I used to always watch this show with my mother when I was a kid good memories.

It wasn't Proctor and Gamble. It was CBS that killed GL.

They sure have haven't they? Zaslow was the best actor I've seen. He kept things shaking on GL. It hasn't been the same since he died.

Totally agree with what you said about David Kriezman! And I say the same about Ellen Wheeler.
mikeyb2049 3 years ago 3
I saw David Kreizman's name under production coordinator. He's GL's current headwriter. Hate to say it, but he's a complete hackwriter.

i love guiding light. so many memorable moments, like this version of the theme and shots behind the credits. thx for the post.

Great clip. This version of "Hold On to Love" aired for less than two months, in June and July 1996.
Do you have any closing credits from late 1996/early 1997? I've never heard the closing version of the theme that aired during those months.

guiding light actually use to have a good sample of contract minorities in 1996 it looks like!

Yes, they did have a nice group of minority contract actors, so unlike GL of today.

I miss the old Guiding Light...now it just seems so tawdry and all the younger actors are pretty boring.
Back then, it had substance.
