Nice, a fellow Blueridge owner! I haven't listened to your other originals yet, but I enjoyed this one. The lyrics feel very genuine. I mean, lost love is a common enough topic...but there's some freshness to the way you're approaching it without stripping out organic disorganization those feelings bring out.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the song. I love my Blueridge. I really think it has an incredible sound and I've written a lot of my best songs on it. Do you write music yourself?
Heh, I'm trying to write music. I wrote a lot a few years ago, but I've had a dry spell for a while trying to get my style figured out. Now I'm just trying to finalize all the bits and pieces I've put together in the past year and rebuild the mini-studio now that the (ex)gf has moved out.
My guitar is a BR-63, btw. The day I bought it, I went to my local store and did a pepsi-challenge type thing with a lot of more expensive guitars. The BR-63 came out on top, naturally :D
I like everything about it but the G at the end. The last C rings out as unresolved, dissonant. I think it would be perfect if you went from the F# step into the C strummed just once and then left hanging.
Other than that I think this is an excellent song. The chord progression is memorable yet distinct and the constant melody of the chorus has a nice hook to it.
That's a perfectly valid point of criticism. I think I played the G as an afterthought, not really working out how exactly it would sound. I'll try that and see how it changes the ending. Thanks for checking out my songs.
I like the G resolve; it matches the lyrics (resolution: moved on). Makes sense that I'd like the unthought-out ending considering I usually plan nothing, and make up everything.
Otherwise I agree w/Oswlek. Keep playing, I'll keep listening.
I think that looking back at this now I really do appreciate the G resolve. I think it works well to end the song, though I suppose the C would work well too. Glad you liked the song. Check out my other ones if you get the chance.
No, I don't currently have an MP3 of this song but if you're that into it, send me a private message and I'll send you a version. Glad you enjoyed it.
I've listened to all your originals and this one is the best I think. I usually really hate listening to original songs on YouTube, buy yours are definitely an exception. You should get a band if you don't already have one. Do they have any places in Austin where live bands play?
...just joking....
You're in the right town and you've got the talent....oh and you have the taste in music too, (GBV).
I'm glad you like the songs. A friend of mine is really into this particular one too. I like the chorus part a lot. Its fun to sing and gets stuck in my head. Glad you enjoy the originals too. I know how bad original songs can be (and usually are) so its nice to hear that I don't fit into that category of hack songwriters. Your interest is making me want to post some other new ones, so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for listening; tell your friends.
