I dont think Bela did that at all. Her score wouldnt have been THAT much higher. People said the same thing about him taking out her full in off bars at nationals, that it cost her the title. And I think this choreo is super cute! She was 14 and the dance requirements were not what they are now. So this rotuine was more than adequate. even with the full in she wouldnt have beaten Kim to make it to AA.
I still dont think they would have given it to her....she never even scored that well with the full in anyway plus she didnt have a name. Kim ended with a double tuck as well and scored a 9.925. I think at this point they would have done anything to make sure that Kim was in. Even betty scored okay with out a full in on floor. not saying I dont agree that they shouldve put it in.. i mean after all it was to help the team score and anywhere to rack up points woulda helped
Yeah, at Olympic Trials she opened with a punch front, roundoff, two back handsprings to piked full-in but fell because she over rotated. Had she thrown the more difficult tumbling, she would have had a chance to advance to AA and event finals.
what a horrible choreography. Ill let everyone in a little inside gossip, which I got from an inside source. Bela purposely took out her full in at the end, so she wouldnt score over 9.9 and thus let Kim get to all around finals. She trained full in for the end.
yes, but she would have had no chance to place in the top three in AA, Zmeskal very much did. However, her injury really hampered her in the floor exercise
I personally loved this routine. It fit Kerri very well back when she was 14 and really brought out her personality. It was very light and entertaining.
it makes me giggle to think of geza pozar working with karolyi's girls. the thought of a 60 year old romanian man doing this choreography really makes me laugh
I believe she scored a 9.862 or somewhere close to that. Had she not watered down the dismount, then she probably would have finished ahead of Zmeskal and qualified to all-around finals. Great routine, nonetheless.
i realized it was 9.837 afterwards and was too lazy to fix the post, u are 100 percent correct, but that horrible choreography, I would have deducted more!
awful music-

I think this routine is age appropriate for a 14 / 15 year old. love the music Nikelodeon and charleston

Get over it. Kim Zmeskal was a better gymnast. She was and she always will be THE gymnast. At least to me.

A stuck full in would have netted at least a 9.85 and might have gone as high as 9.887. This would have kept Kim out of AA finals

Her 1996 routine was probably the best I'd ever seen from her...

...didn't she used to do a front to open her first pass, or am I just imagining that?

I believe that the choreography is exceptional, but her routine in 1996 was much better.

Kerri Strug score was 9.837 (Prelims AA 78.735). Zmeskal score 78.749, just 0,014 ahead Strug!!!

LOL I don't really think it's horrible. I thought it was cute for a 14 year old. But, everyone has different tastes. ;-)
I just realized she scored the same on floor in both her Olympic appearances in team optionals.
tide32athlete 4 years ago
I think the choreography was fitting with the song, and also with her. She was only 14 here.
