Based on a Mitsubishi common rail...developed in the 80's ...anyone out there that knows about cars...Mitsubishi cars are junk... even with a "Volvo reskin", Renault engine that is prone to premature belt failure causing extensive damage...and what was once a bullet proof toyota slushbox, volvo and ford engineers screwed. FWD Mitsubishi and Mazda based Volvos are garbage..not durable like the old rear drives.
Wait a minute - if you're all smiling, waving at the camera and hugging each other, who is assembling the cars? Haha just jokin - I have an SX-4. the reason I bought an SX-4 was because Volvo wasn't offering a sporty AWD in 2008. Things are changing now that Geely China is buying Volvo. The entire company for Less than $2 billion. The geely website has a pic of a white man turning over a corporation and an asian writing the check. China can soon dominate all markets. Cheap cool cars soon in USA?
@markdemey Whats an SX-4? You dont know how to search? Theres a search box near the top of this very page. An SX-4 is a selectable AWD Suzuki rally car for less than $20k. After some serious mods totaling $5000, an SX-4 has 300+hp, a host of other amazing attributes and carries a 10 year warranty. If Suzuki were to bring their turbo diesel SX-4 version to the US I would not hesitate to get one.
@mushaddiv You make this assumption without asking which mods have been done. Why do mods void a warranty? There are laws against voiding warranties - If a dealer voids you just get it in writing and go see a lawyer. A good attorney can be very convincing as to helping dealership managers to reverse voids. I've had my car at the dealer to have them do specialized work more than 4 times since mods - no problem.
@trainlinezoo I hope that China don't get a big marketshare on the carmarket, only today the asians have to much space there, they're not worth it! Hate there valueless "cars". Copycats, ugly design and cheap (!) useless quality are not a thing to survive on. Fingers crossed that Volvo get a reasonably good capital to buy of themself from Geely!
@sedag100 How do you tell your financier he cannot sell his goods in your market? Honestly, if you are a car mfg that can build and finish a car for $3,500 that costs $6100 in the US what do you do? The game certainly changes If that Tata nano car ever comes to america at the crazy price of $3800 brand new fully loaded with optional upgrades that include AWD and a small Turbo Diesel for $7000. They'll sell that car to every fed up bus rider just itching to get a license. New Fords cost $.
@ShaolinKungfuArnhem It's no giant engineering feat to offer every production car in an AWD version. The weather in the states is so extreme - there's no telling how wacky it will get in just the next few years so buying any car with an AWD system makes sense. I was on a road that flooded for the first time in 100 years - AWD got me home that day Snowstorms, floods, wet downward curves - it's nice to have a switch within reach that kicks in all the wheels when the unexpected arises.
Credit where it is due: great clip! Filming and editing done by our in-house Henri Cartier-Bresson, a.k.a. Eric Demurie, using his Canon 5D MarkII. Original score composed by Alain Bruyneel, who in his normal life feeds the hungry (bless him for that too), but rose to the occasion, took up his Fender Stratocaster, did some overdubs (lots, actually), added drums, bass, synthesizer, and canned it in his studio. Bravo!
I was lucky enough to view the Europe and the Alain Bruyneel version and prefere the last one because this makes it a complete "inhouse VCG" masterpiece.
Mark: Great Company to work for indeed. It is wonderful to see all these smiling faces. On the other hand I believe that building Volvo Cars at our plant is a very serious job and I know you take building Volvo Cars very seriously. Lots of success and we are also looking forward to sell this beautiful and fantastic Volvo S60 in India one day!

@trainlinezoo with 5k in mods, i doubt your 10 year warranty would be valid.
