but he will now go to BC classic. He's a little bit like his sister Rags to Riches but surely much better.Curlin wanna go to the Arc,why not this fellow?his pedigree suggests he is a dirt horse but dont forget his dam's Blushing Groom line which I think he is inherited.Arazi was excellent on turf and Lammtarra was an Arc horse. He has similar blood and similarly they are a stylish chestnut.
He is really one of the greats I've ever seen. I seldom say this. Excellent combination of looking, conformation, temperment and action.I've heard that his owner's ambition is to win the arc. From my experience on his movement,I am confident that he is top class both on the turf and dirt or comparatively much outstanding on turf cos he really got great turn of foot...
Casino Drive stretched his legs out beautifully in the stretch at the Peter Pan. As far as Belmont handicapping, I don't think there's anything substantial you can learn from this maiden race though.
To the video's uploader: "domo arigato gozaimashita."
This was race of 1600 meters or approximately 1 1/8 miles.
I was there and permitted to walk the course. It is very deep unharrowed, sand, incomparable to any dirt course in North America. I felt as if I were walking on a beach and was out of breath in no time at all.
I would think the dirt course at Kyoto is, on average, three
seconds slower than any similar track in the U.S.
The time is unimportant. Casino Drive never took a deep breath and cooled down as if he'd been walked.
You also cannot say BB is not as good as Smarty Jones. Smarty's Derby time of
2:04.59, even though on a sloppy to good track, doesn't come close to BB's 2:01 and change. And comparision of Preakness times also tells the tale: Smarty 1:55.59; BB 1:54.80. Smarty was a very good horse, but BB is better at this point.
Big Brown is by Boundary a sire of claiming horses, he should fold in the final yards of the Belmont even if he was as good as Smarty Jones which he's not, too bad, I'd like to see a TC winner but not by Boundary- Casino Drive might be the one...or there may be others lurking about- beating Icabad Crane don't impress me much, even if I like Big Brown which I do- on the other hand Sword dancer won the Belmont with a jive pedigree - being by SunGlow out of a By Jimminy matron- 60 on CD to win-
Boundary is not just a sire of claiming horses. With SI of 2.28 for colts, 2.56 for fillies, he's close to the top tier of stallions standing in the US. What an unfair comment about a very good sire.
I would like to know what pattern race was ever won by a Boundary offspring other than by freakish Big Brown? Boundary has mighty good bloodlines, so you breed your mare to him and see what you get. Big Brown has yet to run against anything other than a 80,000 maiden claiming horse-I'd like to see a triplr crown champ but Big Brown will fade at the end of the Belmont, I doubt he'll be in the money.
Boundary's progeny include English highweight Minardi, multiple Gr1 winner Pomeroy, who's rag# of -1 is pretty damn fast, and seversl other very good graded winners. If you think BB has only run against 80,000 maiden claimers, that's your opinion. You must be an unhappy railbird who's lost a ton at the track, instead of a pedigree expert. If BB wins the TC, I think he'll earn it. If not, he doesn't deserve it. Casino Drive will be his main threat.
I take umbridge at your lame notion that I am a disgruntled railbird- I forgot more about horses in the last five seconds than you'll ever know- I have nothing against Boundary nor Big Brown in fact I backed him in the Florida Derby, Kentucky derby & Preakness- and I was extolling him on public horse racing blogs since Febuary he just don't have it to win the triple crown and won't finish in the money in the Belmont- he's a turf horse whose won big because there is no one out there as of yet-
Name any horse who can sit in quarantine for 2 full months, get out and romp in the PP the way this horse did???? Think they might have him a bit tighter wound for the Belmont now that he'll have been out of quarantine for over a month by then?????? This horse wasn't even close to being tight for the PP, that's how good he is. When this horse hands BB his head in the Belmont the Drugtow excuses will start flying, ohhh he didn't like the track,... blah blah blah
Riders always say their most recent horse is their best ever in order to keep their owners happy. Chris McCarron said Tiznow was the best he had ever ridden, after saying Touch Gold was the best and after saying Paseana was the best he'd ridden. Gary Stevens said about 10 different horses were the best he had ever ridden during his career including Thunder Gulch, Silver Charm and War Chant. Kent Desormeaux also said Kotashaan was the best he'd ever ridden along with Fu Peg and Real Quiet.
If you listen to Kent -- He has ridden BOTH horses. He said that Big Brown is the BEST horse he has EVER ridden.(He said this in a post race interview)> This is coming from a Hall of Fame jockey who lost the Triple Crown by a nose on Real Quiet.
Looks like a nice horse, but I don't think he has the hind end that Big Brown does. He wasn't tested at all here. Should be interesing to see the Belmont. I think he'll be second. I'd love to see what Big Brown will do to this horse when turned loose.
This horse sat for quarantine for 2 months prior to his Peter Pan romp. In other words for 2 months he did no jogging, breezing or galloping on the track. Hugely impressive for only his 2nd lifetime race to win the PP as easily as he did after breaking slowly. This maiden romp against nice special weights only further confirms this horse huge potential. 2008 Belmont winner is right here.
I really don't think that the Belmont distance will be an issue for B. Brown. He won the Kentucky Derby from the 20th post with only 3 races under his belt. Alot of people are saying that his competition is mediocre. I say no...his competition are GOOD race horses. Legendary race horses do this to their competitors. B. Brown practically cantered to both his wins. Look at him after the Preakness -- tell me if he looks tired.

Casino Drive was scratched from the Belmont Stakes this morning due to discomfort from a recently discovered stone bruise on his left hind.
The colt's connections seem like really cool people. I hope to see Casino Drive run another big classy race stateside.
