  • I'm curious about looking up this study, is anyone able to citate me?

  • There might some different fluidity between men and women, but I do believe a lot more men have bisexual feelings than we think. They just don't share because as a society, we are a lot easier on bisexual women than bisexual men.

  • @lisambofoh Dan told the joke in one of his talks Build a thousand bridges and no one will call you an engineer- but you suck one dick...

  • What a crock!

  • i dont agree

  • All porn or strange sexually behavior turn me on, is it okay because I'm a dude.

  • It is going to be so fucked up when a lesbian daughter comes out to her parents and they turn around and show her this video and say "See this daughter even this homosexual man says it is just a phase! Now stop with all this gayness and lesbian nonsense! Got up to your room now you are grounded!" LMFAO! This dude just threw lesbians under the bus LOLOLOL

  • @CarpeAlchemist Wow, talk about not getting the point.

  • what? what is that word? is he saying banobo?

  • @Chronosagaaddict Bonobo. They are a species of great apes under the same genus as chimpanzees, but bonobos are less aggressive. They have pretty interesting mating rituals, and they're a fairly common example study to help further understand human sexuality.

  • Citation needed. What's the study?

  • @tomisabum Use the Google.

  • Also, I thought it was a bit peculiar to say that male sexuality is fixed. How does one find that to be true?

  • @Lijacote I think he's saying that sexual fluidity is less common among males than females. It's not to say there aren't male bisexuals, it's just not as common. I think it's just easier for women to do this than for men. When society has evolved more this may change. There's still a much greater stimga about male bisexuality than female.

  • Is it just me or is the sound quality a bit unfortunate in this video?

  • @Lijacote It's a video from his tours. sound quality's always all over the map. >.<

  • @benthediceman1 toward the end, when he is talking about the "lesbians" he knew in seattle, how some of them are with men now, and some of them *are* men now. Which makes them trans men. But he talks about it as if they're just lesbians taking hormones, not really men, and that really sucks. Being a very sexually fluid girl myself, I really look forward to hearing him talk about this, but he always brings up this example, and it makes me cringe.

  • Right on, Dan. Fluidity is not a bad thing! It's a good thing, and women should be proud and just enjoy that their sexuality can change around.

  • I'm a big fan of Dan, but his willingness to use the experiences of trans men to illustrate female sexual fluidity is really, really unfortunate. I'm surprised more people don't call him on it. Surely if he was using trans women to illustrate anything about male sexuality, people would *at least* think "wtf? That makes no sense."

  • @demaupin ... Maybe I missed it, but where did he do that?

  • @demaupin Missed that point. Where did he do that?

  • I think the only reason why people think women are more fluid is b/c it's allowed. Take a straight girl who looks at another hot girl & says, damn she's fine, but if a straight dude does that, then he's automatically gay! Sexuality is very fluid, even within sexual orientation. I'm a total lesbian, can't tell me any differently, but there are celeb guys who I would surely bone! Regular guys, no, but (few)celeb guys yes! I know lesbians who even look at gay porn & get turned on, it's all fluid!

  • @sillykatz (not enough to explain): bottom line, if men were allowed to look at guys and go, he's hot, without others thinking he's gay, maybe the world would see that men are just as fluid as women! I believe Dan Savage even talks about it, how there could be one person out there that makes you go, DAMN, it's just that guys(& lesbians) don't want to talk about it for fear that they wouldn't be seen as gay(or straight) even though they still are who they are since romantic feelings aren't there!

  • Is it bad if i feel like what Dan is describing for women but i am a man? >_>;

  • @Lionx No no, statistics and experiments report averages not "laws of nature".

Dan has always said that just because most people are like this or most women are like that doesn't mean that the grey areas are wrong. They're just different, and it helps define the middle when you can see the borders.

  • @nikoincroatia Oh okay. Thanks for the reply! I thought i was a lil weird there for a sec.

  • @Lionx Why would it be? I assume you're bisexual?

  • @BottleConcreteBlond Pretty darn gay lol have a bf for quite a while now. Although a part of me is still a lil bi-curious just because I haven't tried it...although part of me isn't as well.

I dunno, its quite a complex thing..

  • @Lionx If it doesn't bother you or your bf I can't see it's a problem.

  • I think we reward consistency. Consistency of wins, of thought, and of sexuality. It's one of the reasons someone being a "flip flopper" about political issues while running for president is seen as a big deal. You were right from the beginning. I don't think that's right necessarily, but it's something.

  • Errr...I'm just trying to figure out what the bonobo porn was supposed to demonstrate?

  • @unclexbob a sexual act with no connections to humans, i'm guessing. whether or not the test subjects would be turned on by the mere thought of a sexual act rather than the individuals involved in said act. i have no idea why they would choose apes in particular, though. xD

  • @fivesilvercoins exactly. What if someone is turned on by dogs screwing, but not apes? It seems so arbitrary.

  • @unclexbob because bonobos are the closest animal on the earth to humans.

  • @hojima that doesn't make it any less a fetish/arbitrary. Can you demonstrate more people are turned on by bonobo's screwing than dogs screwing?

  • @unclexbob That women are arroused by all these different types of sexual behavior (I don't think it means that the women neccessarity want to participate in sex with apes). Women who are not completely turned off by porn will respond to sexual acts even if they are not really aroused by the individual participants. I know some lesbians who like gay male porn with no women at all and yet don't especially like straight or lesbian porn.

  • @BottleConcreteBlond Once again, it seems arbitrary. Why bonobo's? That is all I ask.

  • @unclexbob Why not bonobos then?

  • @BottleConcreteBlond If it isn't arbitrary, then it is a good question. If it is arbitrary, which I think it is, there is no reason.

  • @unclexbob You can google it as easily as anyone else here. My guess would be either that they chose them because they share most of our dna or they chose them because they had the film available.

  • @BottleConcreteBlond I have no idea what "googling" it would solve if it is arbitrary, which I think it is.

I have no idea what DNA has to do with anything. Carrots are closely related to us also, so what?

  • I never heard so much coughing in my life. Was there an ebola outbreak there?

  • I heard reports that the "e-meter in their twats" method was the error in the study. Women are self-lubricating in response to most sexual stimuli, regardless of whether they are aroused.

  • @nikoincroatia

that's correct. probably an adaptive function that protects them from damage when being assaulted...but that's pure conjecture.

but yeah, it's a bit silly since Dan does correctly point out that their sexuality is different...but i think he misses the part about their physiological response not necessarily being caused by arousal, unlike in men.

  • Where are these women that participated in this study? ;)
