Thanks for that, really appreciated. I've been using Macs for a few years now but I just didn't know about this quicktime freebie record facility. Cheers.
whats the background called tat you have, i have a mac and i want it any chance if you post the link of the background if you do it would be fantastic. :]
wow, i was searching the web for a free screen recorder for mac to download and it was right in front of me, lol, nice video by the way realy helped thanks :D
@AfterMath428 When you get the little window with the record button, to the right there is a small drop down menu, if you click that, you can choose the audio input when screen recording :)
@itzBigMouth Yes, when you get the little window with the record button, to the right there is a small drop down menu, if you click that, you can choose the audio input when screen recording :)
Thanks. That was very simple and very useful. It does the job. I can make a simple slide show of my photographs in Preview, capture it in Quicktime and throw it on Facebook.
@liamramsy Ok. What you want to do is when you can see the small grey box with the recording icon, there should be a little arrow in the bottom right corner. If you click this and look at the bottom of the displayed list, you can see where they are being saved to (default folder: Movies) or change it to a folder you specify. Hope this helped.
@kasakawakysubulukish No problem mate ... You came to the right place :) I have had a look into the Services Preferences in Quicktime X and cant find any relevant options, but if the box is getting in the way of recording or makes it hard to start-off your video recording, you can always use the timer/countdown option in this menu. That way, you can be ready when you want the screen to start recording.
@mento6 The mouse I use with my Macbook is a Logitech V470 Wireless Bluetooth Laser Laptop Mouse. However this has nothing to do with the blue clicks you can see on the screen. These are produced by the screen capture software that I am using (see below).
The answer to your second question is yes you can. I use Screenium to capture my video, and you can set the audio capture to your internal or external microphone if you have one and this will layer what you say over the video.
Thank you thank you thank you! Just got my first MacBook...and one of the things I really wanted to do to promote my website was make screen capture videos of how I edit photos for web posting. Couldn't figure it out til this and it's SO easy! Thanks!
@jamesoleruster I guess so if you update Quicktime on your computer.. providing your mac is powerful enough to process the video without freezing/lagging :D
@jamesoleruster im not sure the version of quicktime you are running supports this recording option. I do believe that it is a new feature in Quicktime X for Mac OSX. but having said that you can just try the steps in this video and see if the option is there. Otherwise you will need to update your software or alternatively by a new computer, it depends on how much you really need the feature.

Does this work good when recording for example CoD 4 on mac?
hermiethehero 10 months ago
@hermiethehero Yes, though I guess it would be pretty intensive on the processor, so make sure your Mac can handle both applications running at once.
