"In the kingdoms of Wessex, Sussex, Essex and Kent, plague. In Mercia, and the two Anglias, plague, with a 50% chance of pestilence and famine coming out of the Northeast at twelve miles per hour."
at the end of the 13th century Scotland had 1 mil people by the 14th it 700'000, Scotland was struck badly by plague but it had nowhere near the devastation it brought to England or Florence, Scotland was colder with less rats compared to the warmer infested London, the highlands remained virtually untouched by plague because rats could not survive there despite the squalor which was everywhere during that period, also Scotland was beginning to overcrowd so the plague brought the numbers down
The ones we should actually blame for the Plague are the Mongols from the Golden Horde Khanate for bringing the disease with them from the plains of central asia. Then during the siege of a city in Syria, they'd fling corpses that died of the plague over the walls using catapults and the refugees brought it with them into major trading ports like Venice. The joy of biological warfare...Two thirds of Europe depopulated.
Scotland, no plague. They propably had much better hygiene and more healthy living style in Scotland than in England. It was same thing in Finland during that era. Practically no plague at all. All people in Finland were clean and washed themself about twice a week or more etc (Old ancient Sauna tradition).
