  • Dwele definitely gave this song justice!!! I love bobby caldwell and I think he'd approve!!!! :)

  • Sing without falsetto like Bobby, then I'll be impressed.

  • the real song is of bobby caldwell and better because J dilla created the beat

  • @Rafstar90 J Dilla produced the original version for Bobby Caldwell??????????

  • @jenghi21 yess! sick isn't it

  • @Rafstar90 Wow. He truly was a versatile producer.

  • @Rafstar90

J Dilla did not produce Bobby Caldwell's original song. Dilla was only six years old when original song was made and wasn't even producer when Caldwell's song was released in 1980.

  • Haha I love how people hate for no reason. Like if you don't like it, DON'T watch/listen. Pretty simple

  • I like this but the original is so much better it's just a different element of quality to it that's so unique and pure it just cannot be compared to a copy.

  • @joeynipote

    Dayum LOL

  • Mann i love dis song!...

  • I love that he was wearing a Detroit hat in one of the slides. Awesome. :)

  • I had to favorite this song...ive listened to it everyday since sunday...i like the original too but as a producer/rapper dwele's version does it for me...and really brings out his vocal talent...he has a hellafied falsetto

  • Not better than Caldwell's...just different in a behind-the-beat, neo-soul kinda way. A refreshing and well-made remake by Dwele though. You would have to be a true student of 70s music to truly appreciate the Caldwells version. I'm not a Caldwell fan but I do appreciate the groundwork laid by songwriters and musicians like him. They gave us artistic standards to reach for.

  • well darling open your eyes oooooooooo :) love it

  • Why is everyone debating on Dwele's version and Bobby's version? they both have a unique twist to it.

  • both great songs but the caldwell song has a more unique voice to it. dwelrs voice though spectacular, sounds like something we've herd before. caldwells voice sounds much more can we say ' original"

  • I prefer Dwele's version. Dwele's voice is much more beautiful and smooth. I also love the beat, it's less sparse sounding than Bobby's. I don't think Bobby's is better simply because it's the original. There are plenty of times when an original song has been trumped by a cover version done later. I think this is one of the instances. I think both sang it from the heart, and both meant it with passion. I just prefer Dwele's sound. And I think it's your preference at the end of the day.

  • Let's give credit where credit is due. Dwele did a great job tackling this song but I have to say personally I like Bobby's better. How can you trump something that comes form the heart of an artist. This is Bobby's song!! But as far as which is better. It's all preference. Dwele's is much more sensual with the light tones and all and is more soothing and will appeal to many today with the drums things because it's more urban but Bobby just gave it to you the only way he could, from the heart.

  • amazing!

  • great voice^^

  • beat it sick at :40

  • Dis track is straight beautiful...

  • can't decide which is better, but I think I'm leaning toward Bobby Caldwell's version because his sounds more like a classic and not so digital and modern

  • @IssoPro Shut up. Enjoy the song. WHo gives a fuck which version is better.

  • yeah, caldwell's version is definitely better

  • Saw Dwele in concert in Houston. I can't wait to everyone opens their eyes to real music again.

  • this song always makes me feel better and want to give up the bullshit

  • Both versions are great end of story. Why do you have to put one down to uplift the other? Appreciate both of them!!!

  • Dedicated this one to J-Dilla. Rest in beats J Deezy.

  • Ohhh shitt! This is a lot smoother than Bobby's but damn, when you've got versions of the songs that are equally great in their own rights you really lean to the one you heard first.

So, it's Bobby for me. [:

Still like Dwele's though. I love the range and the smoothness.

  • @TheFlamerOwnsYou or maybe someday, you will realize that music is not a competition and open your ears (and eyes, ha!) and discover how beautiful and liberating it really is.

  • Having a good voice is just not enough...Caldwell is the father...Dwele is a great grand kid

  • absolutely love this song......dwele has a swag like no other

  • so mellow:)

  • I prefer this version more because it has more of a hip-hop style beat to it.

  • this is iight the first one i like a lil more but the b

est out of all of em iS nick n nj version its the song better than any other version no joke serilusly

  • ADOROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pleasant but the original is still better. Bobby's voice is stronger.

  • OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG i've been looking for this version for yearssssssssss! i did not think to look up dwele...lol

  • i think this is much better than the original. bobby wrote a great tune, but dwele's voice is just so much smoother and easier to listen to. and the drum track is fire! r.i.p. dilla

  • Nice remake but I prefer the original anyday.

  • Yeah Dwele doesn't know when to stop singing because when that guitar came on he was supposed shut the fuck up, because if he woulda shut up then that woulda made the song that much better.

  • he sounds like everyother black male sing in the world , i can say that coz i is black lol :)

  • @tipm8 really.....? cuz i for some reason just don't believe that considerin the fact that if you were you probably wouldn't actually feel the need to clarify that but...i digress cuz quite frankly i don't really care, but it's cuz i am black not i is black...that shit just makes you sound retarded, and i doubt that you are...not trynna be an asshole or anything, i'm just sayin

  • @snakekilla I'm white. That is all.

  • @phadamblab ....and you felt the need to share that.....?

  • killed it.....shouts out to bobby caldwell

  • Pretty good cover! But, Bobby Caldwell's voice was more distinctive!

  • Fhodaaaaa dmais essa musica

  • Never heard this version before. Very good remake

  • nah, nt feeln ths track

  • @06pannek really? man this join is pretty ill it's not better than the original but it's almost an original in itself though as far as remakes go lol it's pretty hot though even though the beat seems to stumble a couple times lol idk wth that's about but anyway i just like to get other ppl's p.o.v. so i just wanted to know what you didn't like about it

  • sounds really original

  • it's a good song !!

je vais la chanter le juin :) pour un grand spectacle ( une comedie musical) devan toute ma ville :$ :)

  • DAMN dwele you keep knockin me OUT

  • This is so freaking beautiful with his voice on it!

  • Im sooo feeling this song!!!

  • yes. Throw them dilla drums on ther, that d'angelo style groove, mix with a great fuckin singer and a song that was already tight, shit is dope

  • JerseyDrummerBoi

  • great remake of the song!

  • This is not a sample.... common sampled the song...this is a cover or remake. and it is a great modern version of an already great song.

  • to illusciato: I could not have said it better myself!

  • Dwele and J Dilla should of done a track together..RIP.

J dilla had voice, (in Common's 'Nagchampa') they came close on 'Think Twice' __man....

Dwele does have harmony, and I dont know whats up with the comparisons.

He's also an amazing producer, songwriter, and talented with the instruments.

D'angelo is D'angelo. period. Dwele though, he is active, touring making music. You want to hear ground breaking Soul?

    DWELE AND DARIEN BROCKINGTON!!

  • they did alot of songs together...

  • VERY lovely song,,my favorite on tht CD (:

  • lol i heard this from the end of passion's cater to you cover. Nice song.

  • me to ole boy was plucking that guitar

  • @OfficialTwilightFan2 Same! Lol

  • hush man thats rap this is soul/rnb

  • thanks for the distinction, but i already knew that. im just saying even though this song is good, common's song with this backing is much better.

  • there just too different to compare i think even though their based on the same sample's, i love them both but if that what u think then its all good..

  • HAHA, this isn't a cover from common. it's a cover from bobby caldwell in which dilla sampled for common.

  • @RUDOLPHLYRICS WE KNOW ASSHOLE

  • Great cover - I ended up here after finding and listening to the Eebsofresh cover.

  • love this cover

  • Stunning, great for slow dancing.

  • yes, so beautiful!

  • Great remake...

  • I can't get enough of this song ;) Ahhh true beauty!

  • beautiful

  • I agree wit that

  • It's such an good song that you can't do it wrong no matter who sings it!

  • Para mim... esta é a canção mais linda de sempre... e a versão do Dwele não fica atrás da original, ainda hoje referida... ai que até dói, atenção a quando entra aquele BOOM BAP BOOM BAP.

  • Stop comparing and enjoy the damn song.

  • GREAT COVER DWELE! Bobby is THE MAN!

  • agreed.

  • Bobby Caldwell Version is about 8times better... This is nice though

  • Ok so just to clarify people: Bobby Caldwell did the original of this track, then J Dilla sampled it for Common's hit single "The Light", and then Dwele covered the original Bobby track. Funny thing is there all amazing talents.

  • To all let me sum things up a little here. Most if not all music of today from r& b, rap/hiphop... whatever has sampled music from the 70's. Thats an era where freedom to explore & minds were so opened. Instruments were used & played. 70s cats had teachers from miles, herbie hancock, quincy jones, ROD TEMPERTON" that cat produce all of micheal jackson best hits in the 70's & early 80's plus The old school funk band "HEATWAVE" jazz artists with a solid foundation. Much respect ot the old school

  • the light

  • umm actually both of you have it wrong. this song was made in the late 70's by bobby caldwell so they BOTH sampled it.

  • nah this is a cover, it's only a sample if they use the original. soooooo you're wrong hahaha

  • you got it twisted

  • Ok I stand corrected! Thanks

  • is this the same guy ft. in flashing l ights by kanye?

  • yup. hes done a lot of stuff with slum village too.
