  • Great singer

  • As an avid Boston fan since their inception, I was quite angry and heavily disappointed when I heard the news of Brad Delp's death. And you're right. There's nothing in this interview to indicate or even "hint" at what he was planning to do. I'm sure he had it planned well before this interview took place. We will never know the reasons. However, I will ALWAYS admire him and remain a true fan for the rest of my life.

  • behavior. you can only live your own life. it's just so weird though to listen to this interview, and he sounds pretty upbeat, and then think that 72 hours later, he would be dead by his own doing. it's just crazy really

  • cop out. I've been depressed for almost 20 years now, and been on and off medications, etc, and I've never tried to kill myself, and my life right now is pretty bad. I'm 38, unemployed, divorced and live with my parents. that's pretty sad and pathetic, and I haven't done that. and you take Brad, he was rich, and in a great band, Boston. he had way more options than the average person, but he kills himself? it just doesn't make any sense to me. i guess you can't predict other people's

  • @cbarrett34 Brother, that's the truth,no matter how bad it can get.It cant get worse than fuckin toppin yourself. And dude, who is more important than family?Who gives a fuck where you living,it can only get better bro,a job, money, then travel brother, and if it don't,fuck it,so fuckin what.I got little sympathy for this singer, and he probably doesn't want it,off people he don't know.Stay down dude.

  • @sopitabo stay down?

  • @cbarrett34 No dude.....Stay down,,,,as in, you know the score.Not stay on a downer?

Fuck no,i don't mean it like that.

  • @sopitabo ok. i'm not too hip with the lingo from you kids nowadays, i'm 40 years old

  • @cbarrett34 Dude, why did you feel the need to say your age?Who gives a fuck how old you are,its just a number, what is that, ancient?Course it's not.Dude you wanna change things? You good at English grammar, you know you can take a TESOL test, and travel to a lot of Asian country's to teach English? One option. This is what i am looking to maybe do,get the fuck out of here for a s long as you like, renewing your visa.So stop with getting on your self, many people don't like shit the way it is.

  • @sopitabo The point I was trying to make is that I have depression too, for years, and am basically at rock bottom right now, but i would never kill myself. So, it's very hard for me to have sympathy for rich rock stars like Brad Delp and Kurt Cobain, etc, who have all of this money, etc, but then kill themselves. with all of the money they have, they could enter treatment centers, get great counseling, etc. so, it's really a waste when they want to just end it. so unnecessary

  • @cbarrett34 Brother,i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, seriously.Every fay feeling pain, and the more you talk about it,the more people are turned off to it,even your own family,so basically you are on your own.It is hard, but if you could get a job(which isn't easy)that in itself would make you feel better, also in that situation you don't need no one, because in this life money is god.I know that is cynical, but it is true.

  • @cbarrett34 By the way brother,i got no sympathy at all for multi millionaires toppin themselves,we are all human, but the millions they had.Could go to many a deserving and needy cause,to many to mention. The rock star suicide, misnomer right there. Its the same as multi millionaires asking the general public to give money to a deserving cause. What exactly are they giving

This Brad Delp, seems to be slightly occupied with the beatles,no capital b,paul mcartney i dont dig on him neither

  • he did say that Boston planned to tour during the summer of 2007, and said he was looking forward to that, so, perhaps he wasn't planning on committing suicide during this interview. It just seems to me that a person of Brad Delp's stature, wouldn't just do it on the spur of the moment. I would think that he would've thought this out and planned it for weeks, months or even years. Maybe he had an underlying serious health problem, however, to say he killed himself because of depression is a

  • I can't think of any that do it that away

  • Well the other thing a singer once told me that impressed her about Brad Delp is that when he did hit those high notes he didn't just make it while sacrificing tone. .He actually sounded awesome during those high notes.. Plus he didn't always do it with vibrato. If you do it with vibrato like an opera singer it's much easier. For him it was keeping the tone and all the richness just flat lining it with no vibrator which isn't something you can say for a lot of singers..

  • Well I thought it was highly unlikely and hard to believe that he would kill himself so naturally one would start looking into maybe he was murdered..I guess now the question is why would he do this?

  • technically brilliant singer and woefully underrated . you hardly ever hear him mentioned when musicians talk about their influences . I'm not a big fan of that band but I certainly recognize how talented this guy was . he was packing five octaves which is mariah carey territory . for a man this is almost unheard of . amazing .

  • I have heard it said that people who seriously plan their suicide often get Euphoric the last few days before the kill themselves as they feel they finally will have control of their situation and are happy. They are going out on their terms and nobody elses. It's hard to understand for most of us who are not in that state of mind. All we can do is express our love and gratitude for Brad's life and his beautiful legacy of music he has left to always uplift us. God Speed to you Brad....

  • Anybody who has ever known anybody who committed suicide ( I have known 3 and spoke with the last friend hrs before he did it) will tell you that most times nobody knew it was coming, nor did they act any different. The person doing it usually has the thoughts but the actual action is spur of the moment. Thats why there is no such thing as an "attempted" suicide. Those who are serious..do it without failing. Sad, he was brilliant.

  • wow if he was just faking it, & knew he would not do that march 16th show it fooled me..he sounded completely normal no sign ofany depression...great guy.

  • It's very easy to say "oh he sounded happy in this interview, how could he have killed himself 2 days later?" Many times people who are in a real bad place can just cover it up. This is usually the case with people who have just about given up. Sometimes they would rather put on an act and seem ok, rather than have people hassle them on what's wrong. So don't jump to conclusions about drug overdoses or conspiracy theories.

  • @JourneyAnyWay Actually, it has been documented that many who have finally resolved to commit suicide tend to be in an almost euphoric state in the days prior.I do find it odd how he seems to discuss the future in such a matter of fact tone though, not a hint of what he clearly knew was to come.

  • is weak and need death

  • so, did he already know he was going to kill himself during this interview? because he said he'll never have a chance to ride his girlfriends motorcycle again

  • suicide is so selfish

  • Did he have any sort of drug addiction?

  • Didn't anyone around him know that he may have been genetically depressed? He was so well spoken and positive every time he was interviewed.. he seemed to have this great out look and even the songs were never depressing that he wrote. They were all uplifting.

  • Well I guess that he really did commit suicide. Who would have thought that he would do that? He sure hid it well didn't he? The question is why? He had everything going for him and sounded really happy with himself and life. He didn't sound depressed. It's so strange.. It doesn't make any sense.

  • Most people that do the suicide thing give there stuff away to begin with and being a band thats been around forever that kills me

  • It's all so very weird because normally, someone who is thinking about taking their own life doesn't talk about the future. He talks about the future very enthusiastically. Not saying he was murdered or any type of conspiracy but it's very strange listening to this interview.

  • Really too bad. I've been listening to Boston again lately and i'm so saddened that such talented musicians like Brad decide to take their own lives for unknown reasons. It's truly too bad.

  • No people, depression can cause suicide. Depression results from bad genetics and the resulting chemical imbalance. Depression affects 1 in 5 Americans. It is a silent killer and nobody is immune. Let's push for a cure like we do with cancer.

  • He was obviously suffering from some form of depression. I think Brad was more a fan of other musicians than himself. He talks here like he only achieved a few good things in his life when really, he accomplished so much more than he gives himself credit for. He was one of the greatest singers of our time, but to himself he was just another guy that loved playing music. I think he considered himself to be a "nobody". Just my opinion.

RIP Brad. You will always live on through your music!

  • he did make a strange comment about his fiance's motorcycle saying that he'll never get a chance to use it. does that mean, cause he knew he'll be dead by then?

  • @cbarrett34 I assumed he meant she would never LET him ride her new one after messing up her last one. :)

  • @PeachWNK perhaps. it's all speculation though, no one knows for sure what was going through his mind. He did hint at that he was looking forward to an upcoming summer tour with Boston, so that would've meant that he wasn't planning on kiling himself. However maybe when he got home he changed his mind.

  • i wonder if he already knew that he was going to kill himself during this interview?

  • @cbarrett34 i was wondering that myself i don't think so if i had to say one way or the other, the motorcycle comment i think he meant he would not ride that bike again because the insurance was replacing it w/ a new one..

  • I wonder what the DJ was feeling, when realized, that he had recorded the last words spoken by Brad Delp, to be heard by the public at large.

  • Boston will never be the same.

  • if you really want to investigate this.look at all the lawsuits tom scholz filed against every member of that band.i think that will answer alot of questions about bradssituation at the time.FROM WHAT I HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE!

  • anybody whos a boston fan knows the pressures he was under especially the fact of all the in fighting betweenthe members of boston and tom scholz

  • Sounds more like a head injury - we always ask about them in psych cases because they can make such dramatic changes to personalities, with effects that can be delayed for days, or even years.

  • Tom put the ideas in there. Brad's suicide was due to Tom's pressure. Period.

  • His "fiancee" drove him to it. Not meds. God bless you Brad. What goes around comes around......

  • @rn1005018 i was curious as to where his fiance was that night from what i understand she was in a nightclub w/o brad i find that strange did they have a big blowout and thats why he did this..what do you know about his fiance Pam Sullivan i believe is her name..

  • Oh and by the way show me a source that says that he taped the door from the inside. I'd like to read it since I obviously offended you so much with my murder opinion.. You say I should get my facts straight well ok send me the facts since you know it all.

  • In this interview he said that the worse things was that he had seven stitches in his hand and was over it by the time of this interview yet some of you think it's the pain meds anyway? Please!! lets not pretend you know the facts and I don't and my statements and opinions are anymore ridiculous than yours mojo

  • Wow, you're pretty defensive lol.... Guitar World - Brad Delp: Details emerge in his tragic suicide, "After a lengthy silence, they turned their shoulders to the door and began battering it with their full force. As it gave, the odor of charcoal intensified and hot plumes of blue-grey smoke poured from the excavated room. Broken tape along the door indicated it had been sealed. The police waited for the smoke to abate, then entered the room, covering their mouths and waving away the haze".

  • I truly can understand what might have happened. One second super happy and "on top of the world" and suddenly a total reverse of logic and personality and on to the sad and destructive side.

Play on Brad no matter where you are.

  • i. blame. antidepressants.

  • also at the end the interviewer is like ok see you march 16th... um no you won't lol, man now I feel bad for laughing, Brad Delp your a rock god and you'll always be missed, rock on in heaven. :)

  • He doesn't sound suicidal , and he's even giving plans for a summer tour like why say that when your gunna kill yourself. Really sad that he died :(

  • Just blows my mind that 48 hours after this he killed himself, RIP Brad :(

  • "We'll talk again some day" or maybe not :'(

  • Just because someone is super sad or depressed doesn't mean they can't hide it.

  • Probably related to prescription drugs. The doctors who over-prescribe them should go to jail. (All RX companies are evil.)

  • This guy is to into things in life.. You can see how interested he is in conversation about life.. He says he is thrilled.. He is happy with life? Com on now who is with me. Brad did not commit suicide. Common sense.

  • He didn't kill himself.. What was it Charcoal in the bathroom? Hmm how easy is it to lock someone in there and pipe it in.. Maybe he was drunk and someone threw him in the bathroom and burned the charcoal.... This guy wouldn't commit suicide.. Listen to him. He's so positive. This was MURDER with a capital M.... Unless the Devil possessed him and made him do it.

  • @michman5614 The door frame was taped up from the inside to keep the carbon monoxide in the bathroom, so Brad was solely responsible

  • @mojorisen74 Yes... whoever that michman is he needs to get his facts straight before stating things as fact like that

  • @jamzusa ... I never said anything was fact. I never even said the above paragraph but somehow my e-mail address got attached to it.. But lets get one thing straight. Expecting to get the facts on a medium such as the youtube thread is less than credible.. You really don't know what the facts are. All you know is what you read and what was reported. So many things get reported incorrectly. Look at what they said about Elvis and Bruce Lee. The media spewed so much shit for decades.

  • It was all incorrect

  • I don't know who would murder him but I am sure that the police didn't go to the crime scene thinking that because he is such a lovable guy no one would murder him that it must be suicide... .. My statement could have been ignorant but I disagree that it was "incredibly ignorant" as you put it Stephen. You need to save that adverb for something ridiculous or at least explain the difference, because if you think my opinion is ridiculous I can think of many things that are far more ridiculous.

  • @mojorisen74 and he left notes for everyone, if someone else wrote them , i'm sure there would have been much suspicion and a very large investigation..to think he was done in is just opening up to those ridiculous conspiracey hoax'.

  • @michman5614 this comment was incredibly ignorant. On that same note, with someone as positive and loving as him, who would murder him?

  • @michman5614 FOR MYSELFI BELIEVE BRAD WAS MURDERED BY SOMEONE ELSE.HE DIDNT COMMIT SUICIDE.IF YOU GUYS LISTEN TO THIS INTERVIEW COME ON.AND BRAD WASNT CRAZY OR WAS HE?

  • @lovemaker1972 Dude. Who'd kill Brad? Come on.

  • @michman5614 On March 9, 2007, Brad Delp was found dead at the age of 55 in his home in Atkinson, New Hampshire, from the smoke of two charcoal grills he lit inside his sealed master bathroom Delp was found by police, lying on a pillow on his bathroom floor.

  • @michman5614 The official cause of death was listed as carbon monoxide poisoning. Delp was known for his considerate nature; he had left a note on the front door and master bedroom door of his house warning that there would be carbon monoxide present.

  • @michman5614 U sir are an idiot...

  • @michman5614 Plus he had notes pinned up all over the house warning others what he has done and of all the carbon monoxide

  • I don't get it either.. How could he sound like this and then kill him self? He sounds so up beat. How could this happen? I got a tell you guys.. I'm not buying this. I think he was murdered and they made it look like suicide. Someone is benefitting financially because of his death I bet... Maybe a relationship that gone bad... It can easily happen when you have money and you reject someone.

  • Hearing this interview, he doesn't really sound depressed at all. Maybe he was, it just wasn't at a bad level probably. The medication might've just made him go crazy and so he made the decision to take his own life.

  • weird he says about the motorcycle, that he'll never have a chance to ride it again. maybe he already knew he was going to kill himself?

  • @cbarrett34 No, more likely his fiancee told him she'd never let him ride her bike again because he crashed it and wrote it off.

  • @Kenmorfdublin how do you know that? you don't know that for sure. in my mind, he knew that he was going to kill himself for quite some time. he probably knew during this interview that he was going to kill himself a few days later

  • @cbarrett34 Why do you infer that I 'know that'? I made no such claim. Opinions, opinions, opinions... we are all here sharing them.

  • @Kenmorfdublin oh ok, my bad, i thought you were stating a fact

  • @cbarrett34 No worries friend, may Brad RIP ;)

  • Silvertone was my first guitar. Black flametop with dual pickups.

  • that does not sound like a depressed man at all, whatsoever. i think something out of the ordinary occurred, or it was medication-related bad judgement. he did mention the 40th anniversary, which was 2 days hence, which was when he died. whatever reason- & interesting no notes left for Boston bandmates- it's just tragic. guy like him should never have been a lonely soul.

  • talking like he did, doesn't make sense in light of what happened 2 days later. you wonder if he really killed himself? just very strange.

  • nobody knows if brad was on meds for anything.i met him in 1995 and he was the most generous and down to earth person you could ever meet.it still hurts that he did what he did.i think that there were a list of things that pushed him.i know that he was pretty upset that fran was fired from boston, and the fact that him and the old members of boston were still close but could not work with scholtz.it sucks being torn between friends

  • R.I.P. Brad - We miss you

  • yeah i especially hate evil prescription drugs, fuck u cymbalta

  • If he was having any withdrawl's from opiates, that could very easily made him suicidal. I have been there more than once. Not fun at all. But I am guessing it goes much deeper, just a feeling. We miss you Brad.

  • I cannot believe he was dead 2 days later.... Bawling my eye's out. Why Brad? Why?

  • You can see the lonliness in his eyes at 9:12 on; at least I can. I know the feeling...

  • @ems8266 ...sad as this is for me to write, i can see exactly what you're saying, i see the exact same thing! R.I.P Brad Delp

  • It was extraordinarily painful to listen to this. All I can say is that some of us are born exquisitely, painfully, hyper sensitive. I suspect these viscera deep but easily tweakable feelings just got harder and harder to carry around til he in a phrase "just gave out"and then gave in to all the taunting demons.. Xanax, which I read he was taking, is not a drug that helps create a "clearer" take on ones life,. Pain meds would cause depression when he ran out of them...RIP Cheshsire Rock God.

  • So sorry that Brad felt so bad that suicide was the only option. His music lives on though, and I for 1 will morn his death every time I hear Boston. My heart is sad.

  • Brad, you are one of a kind. Listened to you throughout college and beyond. Will miss you.

  • It's true, no one really knows him on here. However, I didn't know he had a motorcycle accident. When you see these commercials these days about the side effects of pills I think it is possible they may have drove him to such a thing as suicide. It is one of the known side effects for some pills and it makes more sense than anything else. He just didn't have a reason to do it otherwise. At least nothing that anyone knows about.

  • SUPPORT BIG PHARMARMACIES! BUY DRUGS AND HELP DESTROY LIVES.

BRAD WAS A GREAT HEARTED MAN AND WILL BE MISSED....

  • @TheDuaneBrewer i need ur support, Walgreens stores r popping up lterally allround my fuckin town, and im growing up to hate drugs: ive not seen them help ANYONE in my life sept for ADHD people

  • SUPPORT BIG PHARMA AND BUY SYCOTROPHIC DRUGS.

  • lfrankow mentions something interesting... hearing this again, I am struck by 3:40 - when Brad stumbles over how old he was when he saw the Beatles and settles on 14 or 15. I am a dedicated Brad fan and have read and heard 30 or 40 times it seems when he told the story - he always said he was 13, which made sense, b 1951, Beatles in 1964. it was a story he RECITED - why this time is he suddenly stumbling over a fact that to him was so important? it stuns and saddens me :(

  • After all the interviews posted on youtube and everything I've read, I just cant see why he did this. Only he and God know??? What a shame.

  • Does anyone think that maybe some painkillers or pills they put him on following the motorcycle accident may have made him suicidal???

  • @frimpit It's possible. With the large amount of side effects you get from medications nowadays it could have been enough to push him over the edge

  • @frimpit No; he battled depression and confidence issues - even before he met Tom Scholz As an FYI, Delp's post mortem blood work came back negative: no medications, no alcohol, or no drugs or any kind. Another sad story about untreated Depression.

  • @frimpit it was not the first time he tried it......

  • @frimpit Maybe if he was going through withdrawls, it is a defenite posiibility. When your boge from that shitt it can reeeeeeeally get you down emotionaly.

  • Notice toward the beginning of the interview when he was talking about the motorcycle accident. He says "I'll doubt I'll get a chance to ride it again".

  • @lfrankow I thought about this and think, instead, in spite of what he knew was going to happen, the listeners didn't and he went to pains to hide it. if I had crashed my husband's bike I'd be saying in a joking fashion "I am danged sure he won't let me ride it again!" or that kind of thing... I kind of think that is what he was trying to get across in a lighthearted way... that's my thoughts but who knows?? this brought up something else weird I heard tho so see above.

  • Delp died of carbon monoxide poisoning in his sealed bathroom at the age of 55. He had two charcoal grills going in the bathroom. On his chest he taped a note saying "I am a lonely soul." He was such a nice guy that he put a note on his front door saying, "there is carbon monoxide inside." He wrote notes to all his friends and family. Suicide never surprises me. There are psychological ramifications for others though. His note sums it up. " I am a lonely soul." Says it all.

  • were here and then were gone and if you wanna leave early- thats your choice alone- unless you need Dr. Kevorkian. his voice could shoot though the clouds.

  • No one really wants to kill themselves, they just want to stop the pain. That pain is so great that it overrides the bodies natural self preservation instinct. It would be so great to bring him back, have people fill him up with so much love that he would feel complete and at peace. I trust God is taking very good care of the 'Man With The Golden Voice' He sure took good care of us when he was here...

  • This is so sad. He seemed fine in this interview. You would have never

thought this guy was suicidal. What a shame. He was a great singer.

Ive been listening to alot of Boston lately. Those albums are timeless.

  • It's hard to believe it's been 4 years already.... how sad...

  • It always happens like that people like Brad you never ever see it coming.... To listen to him talk you would never know he was a miserable soul... But that's how it is with suicidal people they dance along the border of insanity they hold all the really sad lonely feelings that they have inside of themselves until it reaches the point where they just don't care anymore... Brad reached this point & once he did there was just no turning back. Brad u are surely missed! Great singer!

  • RIP Brad. We all love you.

I've never heard anyone talk negative of this man.

  • RIP Brad.. You were pure awesomeness and everyone misses you.

  • ...And hailing out of Ma., where I myself reside,..the impact of it all felt, and still feels, so much more personal, and closer...like looking out across my back yard and into his..it just feels that much closer to home. Even now, even today, even after all this time passed. Missed beyond words, beyond emotion...the music, the passion of it all, his passing..will forever remain with me,..will forever leave me with so much 'more than a feeling'

  • Only two days later...I just cannot wrap my mind around that. Just when you think you know all of the answers, it takes an incident such as this to remind you that you really know nothing at all...such talent that so many of us wish that we could possess, even for a day...

  • ...It emotionally rocks me. To hear him sing, to hear that amazing voice...how can I not be brought to immense tears for such an amazing stranger that I will never meet, that I will never get the chance to know other than through lyrics that hit home through my soul...

  • I think it’s nice and all that you are paying tribute to Brad for all his musical accolades and everything. But the bottom line is; he was the father of two children who most certainly did not care that their father was a has been rock-star. His selfishness for days gone by far outweighed the needs of his children; and that is truly the tragic aspect of this story.

  • Our rock and roll heroes are Just People, and people aren't perfect. I agree that Brad sounds upbeat and positive here, He must've been hurting over something. I always thot that the "Walk On" album really needed his vocals.

  • 10:10 is when it starts getting spooky. "We'll talk again some day." "I hope so!" Then saying they'll meet each other at the Opera House.. And then Brad saying he'll see him next Friday night. Truly a spooky, haunting ending to the interview. Rest in Peace, Brad.. One of the greatest vocalist of all times!

  • whoever dislikes this page should just get the fuck out....brad delp was a fantastic man and he should have never died!!! RIP Brad

  • I had some hard times back in the day where I actually considered suicide. Listening the that angelic voice singing those songs pulled me back on several occaisions. Bostons music always dripped with hope, even when the song was sad there was always tomorrow. We will always miss those pipes.

  • but why he did that, RIP man.

  • Man, so sad. My heart is with him and his loved ones. He was so compassionate to the needs of his community, and seemed like such a nice person. I've always loved Boston's music, having grown up a teen of the '70's, and am just learning the details of the end of Brad Delp's life. I used to have a hard opinion of those that committed suicide, but as I've lived I understand more of the complexities of life, our hearts and minds, and educated myself on the issues of depression and anxiety. RIP

  • well , it will be a mystery why he commited suicide , he always looked very happy at his age

we will miss forever the voice of Boston

    Rest in Peace Brad Delp

  • Almost five years later that Brad is gone and it is still sad.

Some people say if someone commits suicide, that person is being selfish. Yes, but the pain a person is going through is his or her's own, so I can understand why they feel they have no other choice. The survivors are also being selfish in wanting the departed to stay and live with their pain. Sometimes we can't. Don't hate Brad for his choice. He was a great man and had to take care of himself.

    I miss you Brad.

  • @NanaWildflowers1 I have been on those meds before and yes the side effects were terrible, deadly....

  • Comment removed

  • I agree.. No one is perfect now... We all make mistakes. It's been said if someone kills themselves they will not be resurrected as their life is not theirs to take, it is Jehovah Gods/Gods therefore we have no right to kill ourselves or hurt ourselves in any manner or do things where we might get hurt or killed. I agree with you Nana. Been there myself but made it through. God can read his heart and tell what was going on. I don't agree with suicide but we are not perfect now either...

  • @NanaWildflowers1 mmm...no it is incredibly selfish. I love Brad and his voice. Suicide is never excusable. It is murder and has affected millions.

  • Depression is some scary stuff and unless you've been there you can never know. RIP Brad.

  • @ArmchairMessiah yes, i've been there, i've been depressed for 15 years, but i'll never kill myself. and certainly if i had millions of dollars like he did, there are way more options out there

  • @cbarrett34 Money won't do a thing for your depression. Howard Hughes proved that. Unfortunately, money can't buy you love (or happiness).

  • Man, normaly I have no tolerance for suicides, but this one really mad me sad.

  • @Reyrocksall all suicides are sad

  • RIP Brad :'-(

  • what a jerk for killing himself. a great man, but extremely selfish

  • a man with an AMAZING voice even into his later years. this was such a special person.

  • Some therapy and medication may have helped him tremendously! It's an ongoing fight but it can be overcome. But when your going through it, your prospective is abnormal. Most people would never commit suicide. But when your depressed and can see no way out of the terrible feelings, suicide becomes an attractive option. Occasionally a specific event can drive someone over the edge to commit suicide. But honestly, I think Brad was clinically depressed. he felt alone and hopeless!

  • He suffered from depression. He could put on a front in public or during an interview. Part of him was fighting the depression, even planning to get married, have another tour, and so on. But when your clinically depressed and the pain just keeps eating you alive, it CAN happen! I suffered depression early in my life and had to be hospitalized. The shame of it is, Brad didnt get the help he needed, like an in hospital treatment program. That's what he needed!

  • So sad, It does not sound like he was sad. but it's difficult to say how one feels. It sounded to me he was reaching out because he had a lot to say. Not being critical of him I have great respect for him. Depressed people have a way of masking their true feelings. Because they do not wish to burden others. I still think my favorite album is move on.. What a classic..

  • People need to stop judging, get over your anger and just imagine the dark place his psych must of been.\ R.I.P Brad.

  • @Jiggs46 ...so true. Compassion for him and his family/friends is all I'm feeling. thx Jiggs...

  • I guess this shows how messed up things in a person's mind has to be to be serious about suicide. Maybe that's why saving people like that is so difficult...those of us who are not so emotionally disturbed can't relate to what they're feeling.

    I agree...very, very weird.

  • Jesus, this is just so damn haunting. This is so not a guy that is going to end it inside 48 hours. My God.

  • @msmith5150 Makes you wonder if someone else killed him or really what happened.. God knows though and will take matters into his own hands in time.

  • @jamzusa Just makes you think if one more fan would have seen him on the street and told how much of an inspiration he was, or his family just said how much they loved him once more. I saw him in concert in 1995 for the Walk On album and I got to "high 5" him during a song. He looked incredibly happy to back on the road like that. Just breaks my heart thinking about it :(

  • Miss you Brad, love ya forever!

  • 1:06 to 1:07 I just about cried when he said that.

  • My guess why he killed himself: Sick of giving interviews to dick interviewers. This gem was probably the last straw.

  • That was my problem, was the anger I had that he would do something to himself like this, not knowing or understanding why, I didn't listen to Boston for about 3 or 4 months. It was hard to accept but he did what he did and there's no turning back.....

  • @mojorisen74 yea... Don't Look Back...

  • @mojorisen74 It is hard to accept. It pisses me off. Suicide is murder.

  • @Roggiedodgie Then what is the punishment for the crime? Is it its own punishment?

  • When Brad took his life I was so devastated I cried for weeks afterward ... could not, would not listen to Boston for 10 or 11 months because it was so painful.

Listening to Boston after Brad's death brought about a feeling of tremendous unease for me, but thankfully I got past the bad feelings -- maybe even some anger too, and started listening again, which actually had a healing effect.

  • It's so sad that he felt that he had to end his life...we will never understand what was going through his mind. Rest in peace Brad, your forever loved & missed.

  • He sounded so gentle and upbeat. He had plans for the future. He told the interviewer he'd be at that next concert. And 2 days later...........gone. Most suicides think about it long before they do it. This was carefully planned. He was a lonely soul. He had everything to live for.....a successful career, a God given talent and an impending wedding.....yet none of them mattered to him in his depressed state. It's just sad that the world was robbed of a nice man and an incredible voice.

  • @ cbarrett34 That 20-30 million went to LOTS of different people: Management, band, crew, assistants,..... Plus, the actual songwriter(s) get the biggest checks, those band members who don't write songs depend on tour income.

  • His suicide still affects me to this day....
