One one level, the movie is about an aimless black youth being raised (and in a way, "saved") by a white family, but that's only one level. Still, it does kind of bother me how the film works with on the idea of white messianism, or the belief that it takes a white person to "save" the non-white protagonist. James Cameron's "Avatar" and Jim Hanon's 2006 "End of the Spear" were criticized for doing just that.

So many things wrong with this trailer, but it can be easily distilled into this: what was an interesting, Moneyball-esque look into the development of OTs with a nice side story about Oher's growth has been turned into Dangerous Minds with Sandra Bullock and football replacing Michelle Pfeiffer and poetry.

Can't say that I'm shocked. Oher's story was the best of the Draft...and that's saying something with Aaron Curry. But if I say what's up, I'M the racist. That's the new credo in America circa 2000's. Well regardless, it's a wonderful story.
