  • hi! there is a page of this project? I search VDP source code........

  • Hey kev, what software did you use to record this video? The vids I upload are pretty choppy. Your vids are nice and smooth. Mind describing what method you used? Pz!

  • Hey kevtris. very kewl. this is the first tie i've seen these vids. how would you say the difficulty level of implementing SMS/GG compares to the NES? L8r!

  • @jwdonal It wasn't as bad, mainly because the lack of mappers I think. It took me around 1.5 weeks to implement and perfect the FPGA Colecovision, and then 3 days to add SMS/GG support, and another week to fix it and make it cycle accurate so that it passed all the test ROMs.

  • @kevtris Dude, you are a smart mofo. Is it safe to assume that the Genesis is next? I would imagine it's not that much different than SMS/GG, or no?

  • @jwdonal I thought about Genesis... especially after reading up about its video chip which is *again* an extended version of the SMS one. That made me laugh for some reason... but no, the first 16 bit console will most likely be SNES. The next FPGA project for me will be Gameboy! Going to do regular Gameboy first, then Gameboy Colour after that.

  • Are you using the NES composite output stage mentioned in previous videos?

  • @mirabilis No, it's an RGB to NTSC encoder that I made in verilog and is running on the FPGA itself. It is outputting S-video and composite using the RGB DAC.
