  • MAN BACK THEN SOUL 2 SOUL CONVINCED ME THAT THE FUTURE CONTAINED A THUMPING BASE FOR A LOVING RACE.

I AM STILL A FUNKY DRED TATTED ON MY ARM

  • 8 ppl are dumbass rednecks

  • that's so unbelievably good music… though it is "dance floor" stuff… so touching… I love it even more than when it was new, when I was young back in the days… they don't kick stuff like this anymore

  • Classic

  • I met Victoria Wilson James today and I totally gushed, told her what a legend she was and what a huge fan I am. She couldn't have been nicer! She is still busy making music, performing, DJing and acting and looking still as beautiful today :)

  • @cityboyz1uk good to hear, miss that era and nobody would have thought that today there is a generation who have never heard of these great artists.. such a pity .. good music huge talents,

  • This Song is Alive and Breathing Air to the Soul ! Fantastic !

  • This is such a good song. yes definitely years ahead of its time.

On ya Jazzy B.... Keep up the good work.

  • Who is the lead singer on this track????

  • one of THE best tracks from this group.victorias voice is beautiful

  • totally.. i loved this album.. .. love the ROSE ROYCE Homage at the end...

  • @futuristfood This track was inspired by the Rose Royce classic. One day I should do a mash-up of these two songs.

  • Victoria Wilson James used to stay at my apartment. she - he's weird!

  • @gilbosavannah

    lol she/he what???

  • thanks... love this jam

  • YES!!!

  • Is the female that begins the song, Sonique?

  • @Brittgirl005

    Victoria Wilson-James

She really does sound like Sonique though

    \o/

  • if the lead vocalist for this song had been Grace Jones, it would have been a bigger hit

  • Wow!!! Hard to believe this video (& song) is 20 years old this month. I remember when I first heard this song on the radio driving and I liked. But I liked the follow-up much better "Get A Life." Even though Volume II didn't do as well as their debut smash here in the US (Keep On Movin), I always thought this album/CD from Soul II Soul was better. Beside I like Victoria Wilson James voice, who I also think is a very very underrated singer IMO.

  • My absolute fave SouIISoul song and video

  • IT really is quite funny all the masonic occultism throughout this video hehe.......man were they bought and paid for hehe

  • Yes that is so true. The name Soul II Soul is actually from the ancient Egyptian phrase "Luos Ot Luos Era Taerg. Elpoep evol meht soc eryeht srotavonni" which means, "Watch the TV News. Terrorists want to kill you immediately". Crazy, eh? They were evil to the core. Jazzy "B", obviously stands for Jazzy "Baphomet" and "Back To Life" was clearly about bringing the devil back from one dimension to reign supreme over this one. Bastards that they were! I hate them now.

  • don't you guys use google? alexandra burke's mom is melissa bell. you could read the whole story when alexandra was on x- factor.

  • classic 90's

  • This Music is So " Grown Folks" I love it!

  • alexandra burke's mum is caron wheeler!!

  • Incorrect. Alexandra Burke's mother is Melissa Bell, formerly of Soul II Soul. Not Caron Wheeler.

  • It's a dam shame Alexandra has been given a load rubbish to sing in compared to the Music her Mother was involved in with Soul to Soul.

  • That may just be the difference. Alexandra has been "given" things to sing whereas Soul II Soul innovated and made their own sound. That is why they're still talked about 20-odd years after they first made it. Will we be talking about Alexandra Burke in 20 years? I don't think we will.

  • Yes I agree with you totally! What has happened to all the great Music? I am glad I was young through these times & not now. The Music at the moment is dreadful!

  • this is alexandra burkes mam!!! cant believe it but if u listen closley it even sounds like her!!

  • No it's not.

  • A real nice tune, I've never heard this before. Where's the lady from? Nice video, and really dig the hair styles.

  • Victoria Wilson James, WOW!!!, what a voice and what a woman, did you see her in the 80's those boots / trainers didn't have platforms, she is 100% tall and looks good to play with, (Tigers only) I met her back stage at either Brixton or Wembley you would be lost for words all you bad bwoys.

  • seeing this after years of friendship with Victoria makes me smile... I still dig this song! I remember walking in Paris with this music in my walkman... Years later I became friends with the singer of this beautiful song

  • what's her name

  • Victoria Wilson-James.

  • Helena Blagne

  • La venatura jazzistica nella dance morbida

  • LA RAFFINATEZZA

  • 1)copy&paste

  • Gbjerkoff, be original, at least!!

  • The Tarzan girl, he he.

I think the featured dancer with the short hair is so cute... :)

  • Nelle Hooper IS ace.

  • Nellee Hooper was ace

  • i remember this..

  • This 1990 R&B track is definitely one of my favorites from this innovative U.K. group, the groove is so smooth, along with their harmonious vocals, the lead singer on this track, Victoria Wilson James is an excellent singer, fantastic 90's R&B from a fantastic R&B group!!

  • waaaay ahead of it's time :)

  • Che Classe ! Meraviglioso !!

  • I LUV IT.....

  • WHEN THIS CAME OUT,I FLIPPED!

  • This is so good.

  • jamandrew ure wots commomly known as a chud

  • If I'm not mistaken....... I thought Carolyn Wheeler (who song "back to life") song this track but left the group right when this song was released.

  • This is my favorite Soul II Soul song. I hadn't seen this video in ages!

  • Semplicente fantastica!

  • only came on to to see Alex mom, but nothing. they seemed to have been shit anyway. those were the good days though.

  • Victoria Wilson James is a beautiful vocalist.

I remember buying her solo album, with the song "Through" on it. Buying that album was based on hearing the great work she did with Soul II Soul. You are missed, lady. May you REST IN PEACE.

  • True, amazing vocal... when did she die?

  • We dwell too much on where and when someone we like passes away, when in actuality that is so far from important. riverseaoceanx, all I know is that Victoria Wilson James is no longer here, but she left her great music for us to remember her by. And that's what I want to do: remember her.

  • wtf are you talking about?

She is alive and very well.

  • Okay, then I'm totally lost.

I remember hearing that someone from Soul II Soul died. It was a female singer. So now I'm totally clueless. That's what I get for listening to gossip. Shame on me. VWJ continue doin' ya thang, mama.

  • You are possibly thinking of Doreen Waddell who worked with Soul 2 Soul and also KLF - she died when she was hit by a car in 2002.

  • Very sad story. Seems she was shoplifting at Tesco's and when running away she tried to cross a busy road where she got hit by several cars. She was short on money and probably stole stuff to give to her little son as a lot of children's items were found spread all over the scene of the accident :(

  • Victoria Wilson James is still alive, well still performing and is on You Tube.

  • This song is a classic!

  • this is reminds me of the hot london summer 1990 !

  • The vocalist in this song is Victoria Wilson-James, not Doreen Waddell. A terrible event, the way that such a great and distinctive vocalist died, but the statuesque lady here is thankfully alive and well, and released an album, Colorfields, in 2007!

  • I ADORE this song ....... thanks a bunch!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. I always thought this was the best of soul 2 souls hits.

  • can't believe how she died.

  • I LOVE SOUL TO SOUL EVEN NOW

  • i love that album and never saw the video 2 this or other tracks except "Get a Life",loved their style and have met Jazzie b in LA !!AFRICA CENTER ,CENTER OF THE WORLD

  • Hypnotic haunting but truly great

  • Greath Music! I love Soul II Soul

  • she ran out of the store after stealing a 29 cent donut...caron wheeler was better...

  • Actually she died stealling items from a tesco store...amongst the items strewn across the motorway along with her unrecognisable body were items for her 4 year old son. Police identified her from her fingerprints her body eas so unrecognisable. Nothing to do with donuts or Caron Wheeler...she was talented and beautiful...and now, she's free x

  • i meant c.w. was a better singer...

  • Yes. I understood that part of your comment clearly. I was responding to : 'she ran out of the store after stealing a 29 cent donut...'

  • like she'd steal a donut :(

  • this is one of the greatest videos but some pepole wouldent understand

  • Sadly, Doreen Waddell (the singer) died in 2002 in a horrific accident, after a supermarket incident. She was not well, on the 2000's...:( She was 36yo..

  • the singer is not doreen Waddell, Romero Waddell. VWJ is still alive and kicking!

  • Who is the singer? Check google.

  • song is hypnotic

  • Love Victoria wilson-James on this song. She had a hit with her own song "through" in 1991. Soul II Soul always great female vocalist. She makes this song really come alive, they could not have chosen a better vocalist!!

  • I agree. Victoria became a friend of mine as soon as she came to Amsterdam (to live for a couple of years). I have always treasured this song of hers. Her later work is as strong. I love her first solo-album Perseverance.

  • love this song so much

  • This gives me a nice warm feeling inside,I was a young lad clubing in London when this came out great vibe

  • Way to go Cookypuss this brings back memories, I was just about to graduate high school. I play this CD often. It's good seeing the video again.

  • GREAT VOCALS

  • not the same without carron wheeler

  • nice song soul ii soul was there best

  • LOVED this album.

  • I saw this when I was 8 years old on Rage (Australia) late at night - always left an impression on me. It's the first time I've seen it in 17 years! Thank you.

  • I know that feeling - You are very welcome:)

  • the original version is much better... was our love song.

  • Typical Soul II Soul sound. Love that. Thanx.

  • Interesting singer, quite a presence, and fluffy hair, too :D

  • I remember listening to this back in the early 90s. Brill tune and brill vid!! Soul II Soul simply the best!!

  • What a track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you like this you need to hear double trouble - love dont live here anymore.

I cant wait to remix this track it needs updating a bit :)

  • En,France aussi soul2soul a ses "fans"ca restera 1 des meilleurs sons des annees 90 et en concert c'est tout simplement "inoubliable"pour ceux qui les ont vus

  • I remember walking in Paris with my walkman playing this album. Never I would have thought I would become friends with the singer much later. Victoria, thumbs up. You made this song. You are this song, believe me.

  • Didnt Chyaka do Move me no mountain in 80 on her naughty album?

  • I LOVE this song. Yes does anyone have Move Me No Mountain?

  • Oh my God.......you remember that song? Now that one I did forget!I used to love that too!

  • This is one of my FAVORITE Soul 2 Soul songs EVER!Not many people really remember this song because it was out for a quick minute, but I remember it very well!cookpuss1127,you are a rockstar for adding this video. Thanks!

  • YIP

  • Good example of the Bristol - Nellee Hooper crossover between S2S and Massive Attack. Such a brilliant time for music!

  • Soul II Soul had some of the best female vocalists ever! All of them are superb. I also like Jazzie's deep voice rapping.

  • Finally!!! been waiting for this one. Victoria was brilliant on this track...Anyone have their remake of 'Move Me No Mountain'?

  • bir rüyam vardı..keşke gerçekleşseydi...

  • Thanks very good!

  • Very incognito

  • Love this song too! brings back memories for me too...

    :-)

  • What a great song! Thanx for posting it, brings back loads of memories!!!

  • Great video a true classic.

  • Absolute tune. Can anyone get hold of Jazzy B and Soul 11 Soul, Jazzys Tune?? LOVE IT, mental late 80s cathy dennis, d mob, piano stuff??? Those were the days!

  • Yeah, nearly every piano in the 90's was out of a Korg M1 complete with the tinny b-flat
