Duel was outdated, like the strike, rau easily destroyed its limbs, and in 39, how the rouge was trashed so quickly, buster too in episode 50. He switched to a gouf to have better firepower, but you do have a point, since he did kill shani and clotho easily with his "outdated" model, leading into one of the greatest mysteries in the gundam world.

they should have upgraded the buster and duel for yzak and dearka in the destiny series or take the blu duel and verde buster out of stargazer and put it into destiny and let them pilot them

What I meant was that Z.A.F.T. should consider custom machines for Yzak and Dearka, much like how the EA made next-gen successors for the Buster and Duel in the form of the Verde Buster and Blu Duel.

Probably the reason why not was because Dearka ditched Z.A.F.T. once and Yzak shot a civie shuttle? Durandal said something about their war crimes somewhere in GSD...
