I have to agree with you. Joe Buck's people should have known what they were getting themselves into when they booked Artie, but at the same time Artie's behaviour was pretty pathetic. I like crude humour, I like controversial humour, that's what I'm a big fan of Howard Stern. But there's a difference between being outrageous simply for shock value, and being outrageous just because you're an honest, no-holes-barred kind of person. Artie acted this way for shock value, it was very contrived.

I just don't get the audience (he has one, right? Besides just Stern fans...?) that Artie Lang has.
In his later defense segments, he insists that the crowd was silent except for when they were rolling with laughter during his segment, which just isn't true if you watch the Joe Buck clip. Artie Lang pretty much exposes himself as a hack when he insists in his defense that 'you don't know comedy, I know comedy!' I'm no Joe Buck apologist, but Artie Lang just wasn't funny.
