  • as the saying goes "Don't judge a book by it's cover"

  • really? this is suppose to be horrible come on i seen pg13 movies worse than that in the 80s horror film.

  • You know I own Night Trap and there is no sex or raping females in this game. It make me sick hearing politician saying ridiculous things about video games when they haven't play the game. My guess was when they heard the word Night Trap they jump to conclusion.

  • isn't it great after 2010 (I may speak too soon) we are not hearing any stupid shit like this anymore?

  • Irony is if they had just left it alone Night Trap would've faded into obscurity, I mean as agame it's simply put a boaring badly made game

  • kso, obviously those two guys in the video were being paid by some parent's advocacy groupt to pretend like the game was super violent or sexual. either that or they're just a couple of colossal douchebags. and when Nintendo said Night Trap wouldn't meet their guidelines, they meant 'technical guidelines' meaning since it was a CD game it couldn't run on the SNES because the SNES took catridges. it had nothing to do with the game's content. see, this is why Republicans are idiots!

  • Marilyn Droz

Nat'l Coalition of fat uptight bitches.

  • look at video games now you political assholes Mature rated games are still being played by underage teens!

  • i seen Night trap and i laughed!

  • I love cheesy 80's horror films and to put that in a game was pretty sweet. I loved the behind the scenes clips. Great find

  • F*** Nintendo. THAT WAS NOT THE OBJECT OF THE GAME! Its obvious they did that for Money And to kick Sega's ass.

  • @scottm1211 Nintendo was dirty back in the day , they would do whatever they could to bury their competition.

  • Oh man if they saw Gears of War or Killing Floor all the stay at home moms will be pissed.

  • i kina like night trap xD

  • Hes right, it is child abuse....

...to force a child to play that shitty game

  • 1:00.

Guys who play a whole lot of video games.

    Oh 80's...

  • what about mortal kombat?

  • night trap was a f***ing terrible game

  • Oh boy, wonder if she ever heard of games like Postal.

  • Uh. That's not violent.

  • People REALLY need to dig the Sticks out of their assholes.... we only live once. why be so fucking uptight?

  • I remember being really little and hearing about this and when the ERSB started because of this.

  • thank you joe lieberman, your retarted comments help create the esrb and paranoid parents, YOU SUCK!!!!

  • I find it ridiculous that people find video game violence so terrible and evil and yet they have no problem with the countless "torture porn" films that come out for the masses each year. Shooting people in video games is demonized but I can watch a film like Saw and see much worse stuff than in most mainstream video games. And what makes me even more angry is that these old people don't even care to look and see if they are correct with their accusations.

  • you control how the movie goes.

  • i bet if that game was only a movie, not a single person would of cared

  • hahaha what game is this

  • too many people think that videogames are toys. they are art and shuld not be censored.

  • Were these politicians on drugs or something? How did they find this game graphic in the slightest? What did the characters acting convey that much pain to them?

  • bad parents use video games as an excuse for their troulbled children

  • danm that bitch has huge glasses

  • 1:16 LOL. I thought he was a priest

  • People in Japan have probably the most violent video games but there is barely any violent crimes there. You cant just blame violence on video games.

  • Night Trap is one of the worst video games in history.

  • if they thought night trap was bad, wait till they get there hands on GTA IV

  • first of all, the game sucks (night trap)

secondly, you defending the women, not killing them

  • Shame on you, violent video games. Shame of YOU!!!!!!!

  • From 4:24 - 4:28, ooooh, so scary, NOT!!!!!! Fatal Frame 2 and Silent Hill 3 scared the hell out of me when I played them for the first time. This is just baby steps in being scary.

  • Is anyone else attracted to large dark objects that go like this?

  • Through this WHOLE CLIP. I sympathize for Dana Plato. I had a crush on her during the Different Strokes era.

  • controversy in games only comes from the people who've only seen clips and han't actually played the whole game.

  • But this looks like a great (old) game.

Now if you'll excuse me I just got finished plaing Grand Theft Auto and I have this nagging urge to shoot pedestrians.

  • Wow. Mass effect deja vu.

Never played a game that is completely normal and critisizing because of a mis-taken scene.

Have you ever played mass effect? "Haha, No!"

Have you ever played NightTrap?" I DONT HAVE TO!"

    Just like saying:

Have you ever seen The Godfather? "FUCK NO, IT SUX COZ ITZ A M4FIA MOVIE THAT KILLZ PUPPIEZ!!"

  • Ah those were the days lol

These guys would of had a field day if they came across a game like Rapelay.Night Trap is nothing compared to that abomination. Or as chaserx13 said: games of today lol

  • Ha ha! THe 90's!

  • kill and rape? night trap is where you trap creepy guys

  • LOL shame most people didnt own a Sega CD

  • This is senseless. Didn't politicians have anything better to do? If they are going to criticize something they had better play or watch it first. I guess the make judgments just on heresay. I also notice how it's mainly older people like those in their late 40s and up who take offense to these games.

  • @IrishEyedBlue They're politicians. They doing it to get votes, they don't give a shit about how violent games are or how much sex is in it. As long as they can get votes with it they spout every bullshit topic they existes

  • THIS IS SOO OFFFENSIVE!!! you can clearly see them getting raped and killed!!! WOAH you see her walking backwards and bumps into a guy!!! SO SEXUAL!!!

In all seriousness though it did look like they really put their heart and work into the game and had fun with it...

  • Although the content of Night Trap is laughable in comparison to todays violent and sexual themed games, the feel the outcry was warranted.

The imagery wasn't appropriate then or now for children. But no matter, every 9-year-old with a 360 or a PS3 has already murdered a million prostitutes on GTA IV. The world is down the tubes, despite any effort.

  • The Ignorant pricks who wanted this banned should also try to ban Home Alone because I may be wrong (Which is something they would never say) but wasn't that about a pair of peodophiles trying to get into a kids house

  • They were probably just offended by the bad acting, I know I was. But you see this stuff all the time in horror movies so why the big deal over this game?

  • lol "games have gone to far"... if they could only see today

  • played the game, not violent, decent story....nuff said

  • I find you offeceive you fat bitch

  • I know this may piss a lot of you off, and I'm sorry for getting political, but Joe Leiberman's desire to ban violent games was a factor for me voting Republican in 2000. I did not want him as Gore's VP.

  • Night Trap wasn't even good, but if they played it they'd know they were overreacting.

  • You want to know whats more sick? The private lives of the people bashing video games.

  • Exactly...How much time do people have to have on their hands: to be bothered to criticize video games? There was a debate on BBC's thebigquestions about game violence and MW2...It's just ridiculous, anyone with half a brain, isn't going to be influenced by any of this stuff...The fact of the matter is: it's a game, it's not real...It's all about the ignorance of people from a has-been generation who can't distinguish or even come up meaningful figures, look at the age certificate and move on..

  • It's a fucking game. It;s so stupid that people would get angry about it.

  • only a fat chick would hate

  • They are really messed up to bad they hung themselves over gta

  • not only night trap was a terrible game it was a bad against the government

  • fucking anarchist

  • It was just an 80s movie that was made for amusement! Just shows how sick we are....ugh...

Funny to think how a little joke movie was made into a game and stirred up so much controversy

  • that gae sucked but it profed that people dont do they home work

  • LOL its an effort to save women from being trapped and killed, but obviously thats a choice.

  • night trap sucks dick. i hate dat game!!

  • Mortal Kombat was the reason that games started having rating systems

  • i found this no more offensive than a cheesy B horror movie

  • LOL, and then Mortal Kombat came out..

  • Night Trap was shit, all this controversial shit probably helped it sell more then it should have

  • Wow, Ive never even heard of Night Trap till now. From what Ive seen and heard about it. It seems to be a real cheesy, comical scary movie type game. So much controversy over something not even that serious. 5:50 LMAO at this scene.

  • on 7:32 did she say " Rick would you tell these guy to stop fuckin' me " ??? wtf???

  • Buggin me...

  • oh XD LOL

  • Night Trap is a pretty bad example of video game controversy. Because the game itself SHOULDN'T have caused so much controversy. People told plain lies about the game, and the public joined in.

If it was a rubbish horror film: No one would have cared.

  • Rob Fulop looks like Robin Willams a bit.

  • Great doc! I love it how former Nintendo Chairman Howard Lincoln vowed a game like NightTrap would never see the light of day on any Nintendo system. A year later Nintendo / Rare Ltd. would release the Killer Instinct coin-op destined for the upcoming "Nintendo 64" console XD !!!!!!

  • video game banning is bullshit!

  • don't even need to ban this game, it's so crappy nobody bought it

  • I meant in general.

  • hahaha i remember all this shit from the 90's. those games are weenies compared to the ones now. you actually have games now where you can be a stalker and rape women.

  • There is a difference between killing a DIGITAL, UNREAL, character and going to the supermarket and blowing away the old lady next to the fruit. But then people just need something to whine about. Some videogames ARE nothing but pure violence and sometimes they should be changed....But games like Oddworld are trying to get a message out.People can't blame a shooting on a game like GTA. It could have just been...i don't know! "RANDOM" BUT IF THEY PLAY GAMES THEY THINK THAT MARIO TOLD THEM TO DO IT

  • When you talk about a person as a social construction or as a confluence of forces or as being fragmented or marginalised, what you do is you open up a world of excuses. There might be 6 billion people but what you do makes a difference. It makes a difference,in material terms,to other people, and sets an example. The message here is that we should not write ourselves off or see another as a victim of various forces. Its always our descision who we are.

  • the fact that they never played the game should mean they don't even have a case against this game they never played it means they dont know the plot of the game which means they lied about the controversy behind the game >:/

  • (Shame on people that produce that trash. Its child abuse in my judgement.) WTF?!?! You cant compare child abuse to video games that have violence in it that you might no find enjoyable to see/look at!. Plus i see nothing wrong with letting your kids play games that are violent/bloddy. Just as long as your child understands the difference between real life and entertainment i see nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

  • @givewingstomytriumph

Because that stuff often does have desensitizing and otherwise harmful effects on small children. Don't get me wrong; I'm not against children playing video games, or against the making of mature/violent games, but small children should not play that kind of material if you ask me; that's why certain games are rated for teenagers and adults. Kids should not be "sheltered" from violence (games, tv shows, ect), but some stuff is just not appropriate for their age levels.

  • @givewingstomytriumph Yeah, a little kid wouldn't get that difference too well.

  • why?

  • shut the fuck bitch! Video games are the next work of art!

  • I hate how in tv, they show actual people getting killed, they don't give a damn, but when some show thats comepletely fake comes on, people will call 911.

  • Violence gets blamed on videogames, because of religians. But they forget that most wars were the effect of religion. Religion is FAAAR more dangerous and agressive-stimulating than videogames...

  • I agree. I think religion can go too far at times. For example, over 25-33% of the world practice Christianity and it's taken very seriously these days. Y'know with the "If you don't go to church every Sunday, you're going to burn in hell" thing. It's like going on a plane a few months after 9/11 compared to other countries which pretty much O.K. since like ever. Maybe America isn't that superior to the world as people think.

  • @bibliotheek357 I like how you are going against people generalizing video games while making some generalizations of your own.

  • @bibliotheek357

Well, that may be true in some situations, but not all. Coming from a religious family myself, I can say that religion prevents violence just as much as cause it. Religions like Christianity and Buddhism actually promote nonviolence; a lot of religious-based violence comes from intolerance and people misinterpreting their own religious doctrines, like with the Spanish Inquisition.

  • @bibliotheek357 It wasn't religion it was the perception of it. Get it right.

  • wow i feel bad about night trap, but i hate the game for its bad acting

  • bad all around this game bolws.

  • The reason the guy wanted to banned Night Trap is because the guy got scared when he first played it.

  • What if it wasn't a game, if it was just a crappy b-movie?

  • They thought the goal of this game was to kill all the girls? lol

  • This was the first time that politicians, loud mouth mothers, writers etc. got a chance to make a name for themselves by making up absurd shit. It happens all the time. Remember the whole "cutting people in half with a Chainsaw" and watching people have sex with "full digitalized nudity" in GTA 3? then in Vice City, then in GTA 4? Those things were never in the game but hell if it'll get you on tv....

  • night trap was a TERRIBLE game and its not a "classic" it wasnt violent or anything though it was just really corny

  • Normally I would go into a berserk rage and rant about how retarded these guys are, but Night Trap was a shitty-ass game so I'll make an exception in this case.

  • all NightTrap was is a crappy horror film that you have limited control over.

  • what the hell is wrong with the government?

they think they have an obligation to control what is out on the free market and block anything that they think of as not a social norm

its the parents job to monitor what their kids are playing not the government. ITS A FREE COUNTRY FOR FUCK SAKES!!!!!!

  • Bullshit, there's nothing violent about this.

  • Imagine if the people then saw GTA IV.

  • the thing is... NIGHT TRAP SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how is that violent?

  • thats the point. it wasnt.

  • Oh for the love of god! How can you even classify that as a violent game!

  • video games are fun and cool if you dont like a certian game dont play it that dosent give you the right to say bad things about it

  • Shame on you What bullshit!

  • I have this game, and it sucks.

  • crazy politician.

  • Well, that's my guess, Daniel55679Games.

  • This is why I like Japan. Japan is VERY LIENIENT on all media , wether it would be video games, TV, and books. The US government is taking our rights away, and if Hilary Clinton becomes president, that's it. Under her rule as the new president, if she wins, she will BAN every violent videogame and make us play EC, E or E10 rated videogames.

  • *Eyebrow Raises*

  • all the senators, and negataters are considered "Virgin MILFS", keep in mind the name Virgin, they wanted to play this but can't so they went against the companies. These people I bet havent gotten any sex in the last 25 years, if EVER!

  • what happened to our rights assholes? fuck you

  • never beleive the fucking media. they are full of shit period. night trap. it looks more like a movie.

  • it's basically a B-Movie where you need to go to certain areas at the right times to see. I believe the entire "movie" is up on youtube. it's REALLY bad lol

  • yeah got that right. "shame on you"? fuck those people. they are pissing on our constitutional rights. FUCK YOU JACK THOMPSON

  • You know what?? I think they should consider banning super mario bros too for visuals of gaming violence. Those goombas sure take a head stomping! LOL

  • and they think that's violent?

    LOL

  • Video games cause violence? Ha. What video games was Hitler playing? Or Vlad Dracula, or Jack the Ripper for that matter. Certainly, old dracula didn't go pick up a copy of Castlevania back that long ago.

  • night trap was a bad game. all u do is watch the cameras. pure crap

  • yeah nobody should be able to censor the game without playing it. and the fact they tried to prevent opposing testimony shows a signs of a fascist stance on video games in Washington.

  • funny how it's always old people who are saying this is controversial. just because their childhood wouldn't allow this doesn't mean we can't.

  • This game looks harmless and fun. I've played alot more violent games then this.

  • well... its harmless, anyways! lolz

  • it's incredibly b-movie. you look through the different camera and press a button to activate a trap in each of the rooms to trap the vampire things to save the girls. theres vids on here that show the entire "movie"

  • lol they thought that was bad?

  • Ya know, its funny how we have come along. Night trap helped create the ESRB because of a Political move from some retarded Senator that hasn't even played the game. Now we are all talking about Manhunt 2 being an Adult rating... Yet another Political Move from some retarded Senator.
