I Love this music prob best of any game ive played every single song is epic these old games have fantastic music which todays games usually arent even close too.
This is one of my favorite games too on Nes just amazing gameplay both spacetype and then you could walk around.
And what i also like with these older games you couldnt decide difficulty no it was 1 difficulty mostly and it was pretty damn hard not like most of todays game where you just run through them.
i remember when this game first came out i was in grade school...... and in college it was the first game i downloaded after i got nesticle. Best music of any video game ever and flat out one of the best games ever.... i had some epic battles with that damn eye thing that leaves those bars laying around many a time down to no health before i ramped it up for the win.
Love the music in this game. I use to think it was so hard when I was a child, now that I'm collecting retro games from the NES days and later, I realized it wasn't so tough. secret to staying alive.... Even if you take damage that would kill you, get some live before the bar slides to empty, and you'll have some life left (or a full bar if you get the blue power tanks) Game was easier after I noticed that, but still a challenge.
The game over-remix sucks. Or to say it more respectedly, i don't like it myself. But i do like the forest corridor-remix. And i have to say something about part 5:54-6:09, it looks some kinda place from an old series (a series that doesn't exist).
Did anyone else go insane as a kid trying to figure out the "Ask the round creature for help several times" hint? I never figured it out... had to wait til the internet was invented to beat the game :-(
if they remake any of the old nes games it has to be on the wii because the wii was made by nintendo company but it would be cool if they could make it for any other console
@NESCartFan most sentimental for me as well. it was my dads favorite game and he always watched me play and celebrated when i beat a boss. and if i ever couldn't decide what game to play he always said "guardian legend"
Odd...the first part of the Area 0 music (0:51) sounds extremely similar to Zelda 2's overworld theme. First time I heard that part I thought it was a remix.
ahhh love this game. I bought an X-box with all the game systems on it and was browsing it and found this game! Happiest day of my life lol. Brings bk good memories when the whole family would come and watch u play lol. To bad now a day games dont bring ya together v.v
OMG THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE NINTENDO GAME i remember playing this when i was like 3 or 4....with my folks and all my aunts and uncles...seriously i love this game, soundtrack is easily a 10/10
I just looked it up, this game was released before the legend of Zelda. I think someone needs to give credit for the design of some levels, seriously one of the best games with the most awsome artwork and labelling styles out there. Guardian legend is a 5 out of 5 indefinitely.
I wouldnt necessarily say shit but they're not challenging. Today's games are interactive movies that one eventually finishes with no problem. Todays games are more about finding items, achievements and online play. My favorite part of this gen is the latter, online-play but I love me some shmups like TGL and platformers/side-scrollers like Megaman which frustrate yet feel satisfying once complete. All the props to those who complete this game. Music is A+.
I agree, this game was faaaaaaar too hard. Had to use the NES Advantage controller to beat it, which had a slow motion button (which would rapidly pause and unpause the game). I was also not a fan of having to jot down the 32 character codes every time you wanted to save your progress. God help you if you messed up a character and had to replay any of the insane boss battles.
Quick! Where's a petition to get this game on the various DLC avenues like wiiware, XBLA and PSN?! The whole gaming culture needs to see this amazing game!
Hard? Please the problem with games out now is most are too EASY cos we had to "dumb them down" for little kids! God if I hear one complaint about the insane difficulty I'll lose my mind!
reason this gen of games suck, all made for kiddies i miss the old days when they just made a game and thats all not trying to be a epic movie or have cool trailers.
This was a very intense and mature game, I guess you would call it an rpg game because it had a pretty good story line. Either way, it had awsome music and gameplay. I never beat it either.
Hahaha. All of these themes are now restuck in my head. Probably wedged in there permanently from all of the time I spent trying to beat this game when I was a kid.
This was and still is my favorite NES game. The music is definitely superior to other NES games and the gameplay was amazing! My own personal favorite music is the one from the crystal corridor but the other themes are not far behind. Great game! :)
I finally beat this on NES a year ago, I just picked it up out of the drawer and decided to take it down. If you want to experience real deep emotional pain, have your NES freeze on you after beating one of the late game corridors.
That "they" is Compile. They went bankrupt in 2001. They were mostly known for their Puyo Puyo puzzle series (Kirby's Avalanche is a Puyo Puyo game) and their awesome shooters such as this, Zanac, MUSHA, Blazing Lazers, etc.

In my opinion this game is the best nes game, element by elemnet ..Hours of gaming with great grafics incrible game play full of new elements back then ,as maps leveling up each weapon apart from the character great bosses too and the sound track composition is outstanding..The BEST OF THE BEST BUT NO THE MUST POPULAR..

Hey give your brother a punch in the arm for me. My brother was the same damn way! When him and my cousin got together to play games back then, they wanted all little kids out of the room, which included me! Pissed me off so much, that I eventually became a better video gamer than him. lol hahaha
Yeah I'm a better gamer than my brother now too. He cant touch me at any game now. I Got Him Back Last year When I Moved out and took his computer while he was on vacation
Agreed. I lost track of the game and couldn't remember the name. I wrote down descriptions of it on search sites for games and even did google searches for it... nothing came up. Luckly the 100 nes games in 10 min showed me the game. THANK GOD or whoever is out there :P
a game befroe its time, still to this day never seen or heard anything like it, i remember doing other things like cleaning my room and putting on the soundtest (holding AB on 2nd controller then pushing reset)
me too ! loved the sound test. My favorite is "Crystal Corridor". "Organic corridor" and the intro theme are pretty awesome too. Hell the whole soundtrack makes me want to travel back to the 80s.
there was something that put me stuck in the game: the mysterious way to unseal the 4th corridor.

Bah. The game is fairly easy if you know what you are doing. Most bosses fall apart when sabered. :) TGL mode does considerably up the ante, though.
Grimgrin is easy if you make smart use of the Repeller weapon. Just use it as a shield.
Anyway shame on the original video poster leaving out the incredibly catchy first overhead tune.
zaphod77 2 years ago
DeluxeDookie, you get a +1 from me for that comment. All of these "next gen" games are pure unadulterated shite.

mrdiagomigcombr 3 years ago
the boss in the forest: the pattern is ok to do, but do it on non-stop and moving the controller quickly... ,that´s the resistance I´m talking about.
The excess of recharging items is a defect, but doesn´t make the game easy enough to be like the little mermaid(nes)
The soundtrack is as good as in Konami games, like Castlevania series.
It´s very creative,original
and melodic several times.
Controlling a bikini woman is exciting.
That´s one of the most amusing games I´ve ever played.
