  • how to pick ALL the colours on the screen with the magic wand tool instead of doing it one by one?

  • make me a sandwich

  • Photoshop is soooo good. Everytime I think I miss some feature I look it up and there's a setting that grants even my craziest wishes.

  • Thankyou very much!.. thats just saved me soooooo much time!!!

  • I'm new to photoshop and the is no Magic wand tool in my box.

  • @GetDragged Look at the tools down the left, and look for it hidden under one of the tool flyouts - the little arrow in the bottom corner of a tool. It might be hidden behind another tool. This is only in Photoshop, not Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Lightroom, which are different programs.

  • @aussiefaraday Ok thank you (:

  • how about the wheel??? u havent select them all

  • I can Selet ares with the magic wand tool, but when i press Delete on the Keyboard it says 'Could not complete request as smart object is not directly editable'

Does anyone know how to fix this please?!

  • Can anybody please help me out? The first few times using the Magic Wand went perfectly, but now all of a sudden I can't see what I erased anymore. This is the same when using the eraser, the picture just stays as it was. However, in the miniature picture on the right I can see what I erased. But when I save the picture, it just stays the same. Can someone please help me? It would mean a lot to me.

  • @l0vemusic1 It sounds like you have a separate layer created. When you are erasing, it's only erasing from the current layer.

You can either delete the other layers, or when you use the Magic Wand, tick the box that says 'sample all layers'. That way when you erase, it erases from all the layers. Good luck!

  • i dont have that tool :\

  • Those are fork blades, not fenders. The fender is the bit above the front and rear wheel.

  • bitch.

  • I selected some areas but when I want to delete those areas it won't work. How can I for example delete the background of an image and then put a color to the background? Please help, been spending all day trying to figure that out.

  • @l0vemusic1 Hi there. Pressing Ctrl+Delete (or Cmd+Delete if you are on a mac) should delete the selected area. Check that when you have made your selection, you have put a tick in the option to 'sample all layers'. You might have layers and it's not selecting all of them. Once you have deleted the selection, you can use the paint bucket tool to fill in the selection.

  • @aussiefaraday Thanks!

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the great tut! Just saved me a whole bunch of extra time wow thanks! ;D

  • on my cs5 i have no magic wand tool. help???

  • @RAINBOWscopes look for the quick selection tool (on mine it is the 4th tool down the side) and hold the mouse down on it. The magic wand tool should be hiding under the same tool.

  • how do make the bike an image on its own??? like with no white border when u save it?

  • @Killing4AReason to keep the background transparent, you need to save the file as a GIF, or a PNG file. A JPG file can't keep the transparency. Use the File menu > Save for Web and Devices to see how it will look as the different types of files to save.

  • @aussiefaraday ahhh legend, cheers

  • The magic wand tool is a definite taboo. Pen tool is the way forward, a much more accurate way of selecting objects.

  • @2n019 Thank you for your opinion. As a professional trainer of this application, I must teach all the tools that are a part of it. The tool is 'taboo' only if you aren't aware of the use of layers and masks. When combined with both of those tools, it's actually easier and preferable. It's also a hell of a lot easier to teach. Magic wand lesson = 1/2 hour. People with no prior experience can take hours to learn to use the pen. But hey, horses for courses.

  • eazy for dummies

  • how do yo place what you've selected on another layer?

  • @msdcurtis18 Hey there, all you need to do is press Ctrl J (or Cmd J on a Mac) and the selection automatically goes on another layer!

  • i love you

  • I can't find the magic tool ):

  • i dont have the wand!? where is it???

  • @dirtyghettokid51 I'm looking at it now in Photoshop CS4 on windows, and it is definitely there. I can only think that you're either on an older version of Photoshop, or you're in Photoshop Lightroom, or Photoshop Elements, which don't have the same range of tools. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

  • @dirtyghettokid51 After you have selected the magic wand, look at the gray bar just under the menu bar. There are the options for your tool. The tolerance should be listed there!

  • good tutorial

  • thanx

  • Thank you Jane,i thought that was a very good tutorial.I liked the fact that you ACTUALLY showed where the tool was by counting it down from the tool panel.I believe i will start watching your tuts more often as i am new to cs4 and very eager to learn about it.PLS keep up the great work!

  • great, thanks. i particularly appreciate you explaining what the tolerance does. adds +/- shades from the color chosen, now it makes sense.

  • NO worries, glad I could help you!

  • the thing you said about the inverse saved my life. thanks

  • Good video, I like it.

  • aussiee yeeahhh!!!
