he either poured baraphos, sapp or detergent down the pipe and then he dropped the pipe screen for directional drilling so not to fuck up the mwd tools...mud pulse or em....not sure what they'de be running.

the chain is on a hydraulic ram...i had catheads when i started and it sucked the tongs right into the rollers...usually with the jaws facing the v-door...plus he's not "pulling" the chain off the cathead!! therefore it's a hydraulic ram

It looks like they are riggin on a single, that's the only time you would have to rat hole the kelly every connection, also using your elevators to pick up the kelly. Im pretty sure thats what it is.

I worked on one of these "reentry rigs" for about a week, it way sucked, you only need the kelly to drill when you run into a cement plug that was poured when the well was caped, notice this is not even a A frame derrick I bet its a truck mount rig, the one I worked on had Waukesha engines and if you put them in to much of a bind they would back fire and start running backwards. you run like hell when the blocks start flying down towards the floor.

it's a conventional single....a trailer rig. you still need a truck to pull it(rig movers)...and it's not a re-entry rig...it's a drilling rig....i've been on singles for 14 years and love em....can't go much deeper than 1400m but still fun....still have spinning chains

I push a conventional single in Alberta, Canada. All I can say is if you haven't worked on a single and done what this guy does everyday, you got nothing to say. I was born and raised on singles. I've drilled on doubles and topdrive supersingles....but i still love the singles....that is where we separate the men from the boys.....of course single hands being the men....later boys

Hay dude awesome vid! We had a cat head for spinning chain are you using the tugger? We use one set of tongs and hammer into them with the table to break out 5 inch drill pipe on a triple. its way faster but we cant do that anymore! :-( Have a good one man and remember don't put your figures where you wouldn't put your ?!!! hehe

yeah this is me spinning the chain on a drilling rig in alberta,it's not the best connection ever but gives you an idea. this is a telescopic single rated for 1200m, but we go deeper than that,this was a 1285m directional hole. I plan on making another video were our tongs acually bite and i don't break my chain at the end
