  • MTO: 5 guns, (1), HE/DLY i/e, TGT#EN 1001

Why would the FDC announce i/e for a FFE mission?

  • Im a former US Marine Grunt, two tours in iraq and a fire mission only has to have grid zone designators for air support. As far as i know a grid for arty can usually be a six digit grid. Thats what We would always do. Eight for close, the higher the number grid the more pin-point accuracy. You would call it in like this, minus the nine line. 'FIRE FOR EFFECT! GRID IS AS FOLLOWS 674.. break...875. FIRE FOR EFFECT' they will then respond 'solid copy' splash out is when they let her loose and spl

  • Forgive me if I'm wrong, just teaching myself military grid references to understand. Maybe someone with experience can confirm for me: What's wrong with his call to steel rain is that his GZD is "PQ" which is impossible as GZDs are always number-letter pairs, is that right? If so hooray for learning things on wikipedia.

  • lol the comments are a wankfest of self-appointed von Clausewitzes.

  • boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom

  • for an elete unit, holy shit was their command incompetent

  • When the FDC gives you the MTO, they won't say anything like "splash in xx seconds." They'll give you the MTO, you readback, then they fire the rounds: shot over, shot out, splash over, splash out. Other than that, pretty spot on.

  • the reason is because all the officers and SNCO's present in Iraq were basically POG's. none of them served in Afghanistan like the rest of the Battalion; recon rolled different for Iraq

  • Danger Close is actually 750m

  • @HawaiiRebel Danger close for artillery or mortars is 600m.

  • @HawaiiRebel 750m is danger close for naval gunfire. 600 for mortars and arty.

    us army 13F

  • @90matixX oh ok cool. thought it was the same for all big-ass guns! lol

  • @90matixX I was the Target Plotter for my ship's NGFS Team

  • @90matixX what do you guys say when you call a fire mission from an MLRS battery? they dont say splash out and all that do they? it would take longer than fire from a gun battery... fmr. 13 M is asking... and is 600 meters danger close for MLRS also?

  • @90matixX Fire missions usually just pop up on our screen when its sent from FDC all we know is to verify with FDC and and fire.. If its a fire when ready mission... after that we just hope and pray radar tracks it and its observed safe....?

  • @90matixX FISTERS HOOOAH

  • @HawaiiRebel That's only for naval gunfire under 5 inches...artillery is 600m

  • @dominicancolors yeah I got that already, thanks

  • Hunter-killer RPG team, not 100-killer (hunter-killer means a 2-man team, one is the "hunter" or spotter, with spotting scope/rangefinder, and a killer, the one with the RPG). US military sniper-teams work on the same concept. Spotter, sniper/shooter.

  • 1:43

    Damnit, he's under Commander Boreale!

  • @Tarik360

    STEEL REHN

SOHME STEH DRY AND OTHERS FEEL TEH PEHN

    STEEL REHN

OAUR ETEHNAL FUREH STRIKES FEHR INTO TEH HEARTS OF MEHN

    STEEL REHN

  • @SinDawg030 and then the drop pods killed the enemy in tha naem of tha empra!

  • Who the fuck calls in Artillery within 200m?

  • what does njp mean?

  • @superstitiousbastard Non Judicial Punishment. Allows for commanders to administer disciplinary actions without having to go through the military judicial system

  • Its Hunter/Killer RPG team :P

  • Its insane that this idiot is leading marines into battle. I'm also reading the book and I'm shocked about the levels of stupidity Encino man and Captain america have. I mean, where are your damn brains?

There playing with lives. Doc was right: when these two get their heads together its fucking dangerous.

Crazy that Nate almost got fired for this joker.

  • "...YOUR grid zone designators are correct." This shit is hillarious.

  • Ranger handbook has everything

  • in a fire mission you sometimes hear E.P.I.C.M what does it mean?

  • @Bullets765 I don't think an EPICM exists but they're probably saying DPICM (Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions). In a nutshell, the projectile at a certain altitude or time and drop out grenades as sub-munitions. These sub-munitions are designed for both antiarmor and antipersonnel attack.

  • @shogunrommel thanks again you helped on the other vid aswel

  • total bullshit, I would expect nothing less from the fags in holllywood.

  • @STPMech It's pretty much directly lifted from the non-fiction account.

  • I like that look starting at 0:16 like "oh that's right I forgot, you're an absolute retard" and goes for his field manual.

  • what amazes me is that people like this get promoted in the first place. I mean, shouldn't we have figured out that morons don't make good commanding officers?

  • this guy and captn america... it has to be fiction right?

  • @Grabpowa oh captain america is real!

  • Pain by Steel Rain, OOH-RAH 5/10!!

  • lol i wonder what would've happened if they didn't cancel the tactical nuclear weapons project back in the 50s and 60s... oops called it in on the wrong map grid "too late" *boom*

  • the guy saying 'njp these men'! yeah no..that wouldnt happen. he would have been like WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT ?! LOL

  • "Dumb motherfucker sir, even the most boot-fucked marine knows danger close!"

  • "100 killer RPG team" = "A hunter killer RPG team"

  • He could have called in 60s/81s and they could have went back about a couple 200m, the only real problem would be firing mortars overhead (danger of a short round).

  • Uhh it was 600 meters and this shit is funny! LOL

Sounds like a bunch of Elvis's responding to these video's!

  • @vividhdvideo POO-lease dat MOO-stazz!

  • Uhh it was 600 meters and this shit is funny! LOL

  • what protocols did the guy miss.

  • @Terrorkarel His grid (or location) designation was wrong. Each map has its own alphabetical and numerical coding on them in order to ensure that arty and air hit the right targets and to prevent "blue on blue" incidents.

  • hey i have the same range finder. AWESOME.

    -Loved GENERATION KILL.

  • just wondering what medal do you get for calling in a fire mission

  • ill admit i heard of danger close in a game but if i was in the military id WANT to know EVERYTHING involving explosives so that i dont blow my own ass up.

  • @mihawk1 I think that might over qualify you for the job;)

  • to be honest we only know about danger close because of modern warfare 2, the fact the captian does not know what it is is quiet scary

  • Ok are there really officers in charge of people who don't the shit they're supposed to?

  • @Whatisright There are PLENTY of officers like that...

  • why does this all remind me of project reality?

  • EchoFivePapa is a badass sniper, by the way! Love the sniping scene.

  • With very little military knowledge, I can only hope this was creative license and not based on a real individual. >>

  • "Reconfirm grid zone designator."

    "Um... What do you mean?"

    LOL.

  • I didnt mean it in that way...

  • all people who play cod know what danger close is, obviously he hasnt played cod.

  • @BalisticDUCK Do you really compare a Game like CoD with REAL WAR? You must be kidding ! If you die in CoD: "Play it one more Time". If you die in a real war: "You are Dead". CoD or Arma and so on are Games for Kiddies. So dont compare it with real War.

  • all people who play cod know what danger close is, obviously he didnt.

  • real life sgt kocher at 2:50

  • how the fuck does he not know what danger close mean... i mean what the fuck.....even people out of the military know danger fucking close.....if this guy was truly based on real events i feel sorry for these marines

  • @Ac1dlicous Read the book. Unfortunately, this all happened.

  • @Ac1dlicous

Actually the whole operation went like that, not a lack of knowlege of personell but a complete fuckup of application of the military system. Epic Failure

  • @Ac1dlicous this guy - the one calling in the fire mission - is a real officer and he is pretty much as stupid as they made him out to be. if you read Generation Kill, then you see a little bit of how stupid some of these officers were. Captain America was an intel officer and I think Encino Man, the one portrayed here, was too. great book, great miniseries.

  • @Ac1dlicous The series is based on the real story, the LT here keeping him from calling it in also mentioned it in his book "One Bullet Away"

  • @Ac1dlicous that really how he was. i am reading the book right now.

  • @Ac1dlicous he does know what danger close is, the point of this scene was just to show that sometimes officers just wanna look cool for their superiors

  • @Ac1dlicous It was a true story, theres also a book, back in the beginning of the war there were a lot of incompitent marines/soldiers... theres idiots even in the military lol

  • @Ac1dlicous The commander in that movie was an idiot, and it was quite funny to watch the marines fuck with him.

  • @Ac1dlicous you would be amazed that the blatant stupidity of marine corps officers...The only ones really worth their salt are the mustangs. Trust me I know...

  • Any officer that doesnt know what danger close means shouldnt even order a pizza let along an arty strike...

  • @ athcnv, mayb u r correct, no subtitles, thats Y i cant hear it clearly. thanks for clarifying !

  • Erm....I think he said "Hunter-Killer RPG team" not 100 killer RPG

  • fuck yeah
