  • Only use found : Nintendo 3DS.

  • ok I´m one-eyed, so I wont enjoy that technology! :´(

  • The narrator has a really really annoying voiceeeeeesaa... she ends on a high, its really annoying.

  • can i buy one :D. NO!! so do i care, NO.

  • Dude,I'm the generation of now and so far I can't believe some of the technological advancements we have made. but im part of the generation that is Watching the birth of the FIRST Generation of this kind of technology.I have and will get to play with some amazing toys out of my fry's electronics toy store in my life.

I can't wait to see what the Next Generation and there grandchildren get to play with.

  • if you have seen iron man then i want a holographic thing like his in the garage

  • 47,000 viewer!

  • Comment removed

  • VR porn, here we come! :D

  • We're getting so close to having non-solid holograms for computers on the walls and using our fingers as the mouse like in cartoons. :D

  • This will change how livingrooms across america are layed out. That's about it.

  • holographic tv sounds better

  • nice !! i can rotate and avoid the man's butt when i watch porn lol

  • can i watch porn on it

  • /watch?v=DTXO7KGHtjI&feature=player_embedded#!

  • Amazing

  • IRON MAN!!!!!

  • JAPAN IS BEATING US!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ive seen this shit in the matrix. this shit isnt new

  • i like it

  • Sorry Sony,

    Living Room - FAIL!

    Doctors Office - FTW!

While sitting on potty - FTW!

this will not become popular for home televison watching, but for the medical field I definitely see it's potential

  • That's nothing, holograms beats everything!

  • its a spinning mirror inside,=D

  • thnx sensor!

  • oh man... they seriously need to push this.. if they can possibly make that into a t.v. ( not like a 'main viewing' t.v., but like a special tv, for real 3d games (like Gran Turismo, PS3, ect..) & 3d movies (like IMAX, just without the glassses)) I would most indubitably buy one, or two.. I'm really into technology, & this truly is amazing

  • 4D?

  • but... will it blend

  • @kewan1998 hahaha, great.. =P

  • @kewan1998 we know iPhones do!

  • @kewan1998 of corse, even you!

  • @kewan1998 not but your mom will on my dick.

  • thumgs up if the video got stuck at 1:21

  • Dis she say hemorragy or HEMOROID???:))

  • As usual with new tech:

    First use: Video-Games

    Second use: WAR

    Third use: money

    ....

    ....

    79th use: Healthcare

  • @Lukaz1989

    maybe:

    1st use money

    2nd use money

    3rd use money again

that involve obvusly war (4th) than maybe game

    ooh it's weird! again money?

and healthcare? ye..maybe after 10y the discover the new technology would be applied..

it's just my opinion.. i guess coherent with yours..sadly

  • @Lukaz1989 thats for surre xp

  • @Lukaz1989 I think war comes first. We just don't know about it.

  • @Lukaz1989, you forgot pornography.

  • @Lukaz1989 You must not be that bright. Video games create entertainment which companys then sell to get MONEY. War generates media, which gets MONEY. Healthcare on the other hand is partially the natural instinct of survival, and mostly for MONEY. So as you can see there is only one reason for everything in our modern world, MONEY. power is not an option because MONEY is power.

  • @MachSpeedGaming In Health care, God does the healings and the doctor takes the bills.

  • @takethepowerback83 This is why I can't be a Doctor, surgeon, nurse, etc. Because they spend hours and hours taking care of you, saving your life, and billions of dollars go to medical equipment To save YOUR life and you walk out of the hospital talking about how GOD!?!?!? SAVED YOUR LIFE?!?!!? That seems pretty damn insane to me, i have gone to private christian schools all my life and i know all about god and jesus and all of your fairy-tales, And THAT sounds insane to me.

  • @MachSpeedGaming First of all, I resent that. Also, mine was similar to a quote from Mark Twain. I wasn't being totally serious but, if you think of it, the body self-regenerates so the role of general doctors is that of aiding the body on the path to self-healing. But you're studying medicine, you ought to know this.

  • @takethepowerback83 Are you actually being serious?

  • @Lukaz1989 just the way it should be!

  • @Lukaz1989 haha u forgot porn you idiot

  • 0:15 SONY OFF CAUSE

  • basically a hologram

  • That looks proper... shit.

  • No offence, but you should maybe get someone with a more lively voice to narrate...

  • just how awesome is that thing?!

  • First 3D fight will be - Her: "Does this 3D make me look fat!?" Him: "Only if its broken Dear" Her: "Lair" Him: "Oh look it isn't broken"- and so on. Sad thing is the Robot Toddler will have to go through therapy because when Mom and Daddy fight he kicks the robot Dog.

  • I like the 3D....somewhat.

Hey, if they could make actually hard-light tech kinda like the X-mens danger room then I'm all in. People would actually be able to sell their body scans to used in database of characters. I wonder what business would mostly invest in this idea? Probably gaming, war and lol porn.

  • @vjacq88 hell yeah gaming and porn

  • i'm willing to bet once this thing comes on the market, sony will anounce ps4 compatibility for this thing.

  • is it just me or that woman totally looks like brenda chenowith from SFU??

  • "...turning science fiction into reality.." that would mean that it could materialize yoda or some other science fiction thing into our world.. now, THAT would be awesome ;)

  • To all those who say "It doesn't look 3D" take a minute to think that your watching it shot with a 2D camera on a 2D monitor.....Hmmmmmm

  • I thought it was gonna be like a hologram sort of 3D, like in Star Wars. Not a 360 degree LCD TV. Still kinda cool though.

  • It would be cooler if it wasnt just an led tv shaped in a cylinder with polarized lenses around it. This is a good example of "inevitable technology" , so im glad it exists, but im not impressed it exists. But im also tired and in a bad mood.

  • impressive! too bad you have to go to all the effort to take a pictuuree from ev-er-ee angle!

  • Cool, very cool ! The present day is the future of just 10-15 years ago!

With one important difference: 10-15 years ago this technology was projected to become reality about 10-15 years FROM NOW !

So you see, the advances in research are really picking up speed.

  • This doesn't look 3D at all, and also- doesn't nintendo already have this technology? it's really nothing new.

  • Boring...

HOW DOES IT WORK? What scientific principles are involved?

  • Milf

  • Imagine that... but like 100 times bigger!

  • Next Stop? The Matrix. (I just creamed my pants.)

  • @imobeus1: try putting something other than cream in your pants

  • @sutasman

    Oh yeah?

    Well, why don't you..put..your pants in...in a ... shut up..STUPIT HEAD!!

  • That technology is decades old.

  • senseless...

  • Help me Obi Wan Kenobi!

  • he's hot

  • she's hot.

  • awesome technology, I learn something new everyday. :)

    Thanks for the vid.

  • @SurferRosa79 no way, i had your album by the pixies but it was nicked by some dodgy pratt. cheers from san diego

  • its way to small to play video games. and i think its pointless overall. 3d wont be cool until there is some way to have a perfect hologram that can be any size.

  • @supertaj1800

Without steps like these there would never BE a perfect way; these videos are showcasing the DEVELOPMENT, not the final product. It takes more than just one person saying 'here you go it's done' for it to be perfected. This video is an excellent example of how we are finally moving towards that goal and that it's actually possible.

  • Commercials: those big round tubes standing everywhere? yes the commercials will follow you and be different from those for others.

thanks to facebook and friends you will get advertising for pornos and black rubber fists and anybody standing right next to you can see what you google for!

  • whats the point? i would have to get up and walk around the thing for it to truly work;

    it would be easier and more comfortable to just turn the 3d model around with any input device;

no useful application immediately comes to mind for the device

  • If that's the same cylindrical display shown at SIGGRAPH several years ago, I wouldn't put much stock in it. If you look at it in real life, the refresh rate is horrible. Flat screen 3D is the way of the future.

  • I see how this is a great technologic advancement. But is it actually of any use? does it give illusion of depth etc? cause in the movie it just looked as how it would look like on a normal screen. I mean u can also rotate a 3d object on a normal pc?

so the only advantage is that people can stand around it instead of infront of it?

  • @JonasAtGuitar

They just said that your eyes get two different images, so yes, you perceive depth.

  • this pwns nvidea

  • This already exists about 10 years. But okay, I guess now they see a way of actually making it profitable.

  • This video is so poorly done that one cannot tell what technique is being used!

  • @farvision Or YOU are so poorly made you don't have the hearing to listen to what they just said it was constructed with.

  • @Athaeus 0:40 "LED light source" is not a description. Does it have microlenses? Directional lasers? You tell me.

  • @farvision From a video of a minute and a half I think that's all the explanation needed. We're not all electroengineers.

  • @Athaeus I disagree. I watch these videos to get insights. To be told that there is yet another 3D display method, but not the mechanism is not useful. Spinning surfaces is an unlikely possibility, but such a display has been made. What's new here? Why put out a report in which the new material is excluded? It would take only a few seconds to clarify it, the short time is no excuse. Why are you defending their poor work in this case?

  • @farvision New Scientist deals with popular science, not publishing scientific papers. I watch their videos to get an idea of what new exciting discoveries and inventions have been released. If I get extra vurious about something in specific, I simply investigate the origin of the story.

  • @Athaeus I agree that they do popular science and I too look up background or original papers. In this case I was led to dead ends - the company Sony isn't saying how it works in their pages or they too didn't make it obvious. If it's the company, then it's just a media stunt.

  • @farvision It's probably some sort of pending patent or company secret that they didn't want to release to New Scientist. I remember some research they showed with handling cytological preparation through magnets and lasers, and they even showed the electrodiagram of the thing. That's the difference between universities and companies I guess. One strives to give knowledge to people, the other to take money from people.

  • @Athaeus That's an interesting possibility but if they show a prototype before putting the patent application in (for US patents) they risk 'public disclosure' and could lose the patent later. I doubt that they would do that - which seems to imply they have already put the application in. Hm. But in Europe it's patent at invention and the patent applications appear immediately ... wipo ... 2 hits, just background technologies ...

  • Science is win.

  • thank you sony

  • looking forward for the first porn movie on this thing?

  • @Spacerboy I'm sure that already happened as well as with that thing (see rule 34).

  • @Spacerboy But it would make you pregnant!!!!1!!!!one!!!! lol

  • @Spacerboy i dont have to watch i am in it :P and my wife dont care >:D

  • Oh man. The VOICE is back.

  • damn get another narrator thats not so annoying

  • she was all like, "it's awesome. hehehehehe"

  • *something with porn that perv ppl all over the internet like*

  • @jmm00702 you mean normal ppl

  • @johncrazy8s (normal == perv): true

  • thats cool. but we'd really like lightsabers and jetpacks.

  • This is nothing new. I used to see 3D texts using this technology as a kid...

  • It's incredibly simple. The LED screen is horizontal to the viewer and a spinning mirror on an angle reflects the image on the screen. The screen changes the images 360 times per revolution of the mirror. It's not a true volumetric projection like in the star wars movie. It requires a mirror that is spinning at least 13 times a second. A volumetric projection like in star wars does currently exist but it's very primitive.

  • I wonder how this works. It is obvious that if you paint something to a paper and roll it to a cylinder won't give you a 3D effect :). There must be a different image for each angle. ... Well, I am impressed!!!

  • But how does it work?! :(

  • 3d iphone is gonna be awsome

  • im pretty sure perverts would use this or 3d porno.... lol

  • Sandrine's voice :)))))

  • And now....Help me Obi Wan!!!!

  • It's only good for viewing objects that can be shrunk into the space, it wont be good for look at 3d landscapes

  • Imagine what will happen when they expand this, enlarge it and perfect it. It could be created into a whole new kind of computer. Amazing...

  • @Dreathrevolution interesting for IP telephony. You can see all details of your partner full in 3D.It could be an exciting game.

  • join the dark side

  • this is interesting !

  • I like the girl with the short black hair, she sounds so exited

  • @AmEvil123 there is already 3D PORN in the market of Japan.

  • too bad this report is in 2d

  • but does it work viewing from the top to bottom

  • @AmEvil123

Why didn't I think of that?

  • I think it would be more useful in a bigger scale!! but its a start

  • You would think this HIGH TECH SCIENCE YOUTUBE CHANNEL would be able to upload their videos in HD... go figure.

  • @cuptow555 there's no point, it's youtube.

  • hmmm, 3d tetris might be amusing

  • It's only 3D along one axis (left/right), and if you tried putting your dick in that thing, it would be the equivalent of a blender (due to the fast spinning mirror reflecting the views for all sides). Cyber Sex will be painful if this is the future. I'd have to say that pain is an acquired fetish.

  • They should make an entire room instead of just having that little space inside the cylinder. That would be way better.

  • @YouHaveBeauty

I would not feel safe in a room with a 10 m wide mirror in the middle spinning at super fast speeds, oh god no!

  • Put that on the New nintendo console....I call it Nintendo Derrr.

  • i wonder if we can take the clothes off that woman

  • too small, can't look at the top or bottom of the hologram.

  • Pornbox 360!!!

  • @AmEvil123 YES, PLEASE!

  • Now they have to work on force field technology to accompany this and we can start building the very first holo deck!

  • @AmEvil123 aww it's coming right at me, noo not the white stuff

  • one step closer to the LOOOOONG awaited holograms!!!!!!

  • very responsive

  • 3D for reallll

  • This is going to kill my storage capacity. A 3d DVD has got to be a Terabyte in size.

  • THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY FAPPING NEEDS

  • Im starting to get really really annoyed by the fact that 90% of the top rated comments on these videos all have to do with porn

  • @IamHueGraves well... if it suits porn -funding problems are SOLVED! =D

  • AWESOME for porn and cod

  • Make it larger and send it to my p.o. box.

  • 0:40 Loooong neck

  • @MrTurboturbine Long neck is

    Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • people should really stop linking all inventions, newscientist is reporting about, to porn...

  • Sure it's a step in 3d technology... but seriously. No one would ever buy this and use it in a practical application. Video games? On a 4 inch, low quality viewport... no thankyou.

  • 3DPD

  • @ONA5252 do you know what's even better? proper grammar, sort it out

  • @SheepJumpFish can you sort it out for me? I'm not american or english and I can't see a fucking grammar mistake in my comment :)) so please , do your best !

  • @ONA5252 Right'o, basically, you wrote 'way more cooler' which is the error it should either be 'way cooler' or 'way more cool'. You also said 'and stuck it' when it should be 'stick' as you changed from future to past tense.

  • @SheepJumpFish lol yeah nice..thanks! :D

  • Im in 3D......but no one cares.........

  • How come the comment section on most of these videoes end up being all about porn?

  • @iamnorwegian Well, as organisms driven by the need to procreate. Everything revolves around sex. This is then coupled with our advancements in media technology. In summation: 3D titties.

  • @iamnorwegian Because nerds are horny? (kidding)

  • @AmEvil123 lol am I ? :))

  • R2D2 HOLOGRAM PROJECTOR TECHNOLOGY FTW!

  • anatomy? physiology? fuck no.. porn is what this is gonna be used for..

  • can u put ur dick in it , im jk, but that is awesome
