This is for all lovers of this film. Does anyone know where I can find a recording or video of the song that is sung when Perhan and his sister are leaving their grandmother? It is not on any of the Bergovic CDs that I could find, including the "Time of the Gypsies." I love that song but I am tired of having to turn on the film so that I can hear it. And taping it from the film onto my recorder just did not give great results.

Reply to myself: the song is EDERLEZI AVELA, a lament on the departure of the son who is going to the "vojsko" (army) and will not be home for Ederlezi!

This is the most majestic film, dreamlike, tragic, and panoramic in it's astute observation of what makes the traditionally outcast gypsy race. It is also full of humour, and the music, the gypsy music!so full of the sorrow of ages yet full to bursting with life perfectly fits the coming of age of Perhan, for me it was more a 'religious' experience than just a film..
