but seriously i need a tmv friend. somebody bother me please!
oh ,and this song is amazing. his voice moves eay different than anything we're used to hearing. and those note omar plays..very different.. but bother me!!
Why is it, that on every fucking Mars Volta youtube video, there is ALWAYS a stupid argument between a bunch of angsty fools calling each other faggots and shooting down each others opinions? Jesus christ, just watch the video and enjoy it/don't enjoy it.
Fickle black and white text can only thread a single string from this group to our undiscerning ears. Pour your thought onto a dim-lit screen, the response will be much more dim. Stop latching your perceptions to what you've already perceived, the difference lies in the similarity. If one album doesn't do it for you, your wishes don't fit the dream. This is something more than human...it's emotion. I await your response in its emotive context.
Why is everybody hating on Bedlam? I was taken quite aback to that, it was refreshing to hear the hardcore noise from their earlier works. This is awesome though, it reminds me of something that would be in the midst of Cassandra Gemini.
I'm blown away. I was having a hard time getting "up" for this album. I don't know why. Maybe it was the acoustic thing or the way I adored half of Bedlam but only liked the other half. I was certain they were going to stip down their sound and disappear into themselves. I was half right. They've stripped down their sound, but to incredible results. I hate to use such an easy reference, but this seems like the Volta's own "Crack the Skye" -- it's damn near radio ready, but isn't "pop".
Well said. Just like their albums, the progression of their albums is also a journey. As long as they're making music, they'll be changing their sound and experimenting. I think the poser Deloused fans should be well gone by now.
this album so far is really good. maybe the best overall mood/vibe/whatever that tmv have ever gotten out of a record. its life-like like frances, but its more reminiscent of amputechture for me. still def different as always tho. its exactly what they needed after the epic mangled mess of bedlam.
just glancing over at comments and reading "emo" and "ATDI" is really pathetic (no offence to ATDI i love them just shouldn't be anywhere compared to this) this is what assholes do with every metal band ever with slipknot. really just stop comparing and recognize the individuality and progression this band has accomplished with less than a decade. or not, just don't run your mouth about other shit sinking all the important information real volta fans have to share to people who might need it.
At the drive-in, emo? No! Never! Does that mean they were all gay too? Who ever says that are fucking stupid! If Cedric or Omar heard you say that they would laugh in your fucking stupid emo face!
Cedric and Omar are truly the ambassadors of real emo. Emotional music from back in the day, the post-hardcore era. They started that shit. And they don't give a fuck what you think. Anyone who wouldn't call ATDI emo is completely lost, in my opinion, on what the genre of emo was or what it was about.
haha some of bedlam was shit, if it was by any other band you'd hate it. some of their songs are just fucking wah solos and clichéd riffs, stop trying to suck their dicks man
ALSO, sorry to keep going on like this, but if you were a TRUE fan, like you suggest you are, you would remember that deloused wasn't their first release, Tremulant was; which was as good as anything else they've released. So there! ha. :P you 'go to fucking hell' (lol)
LOVE the song btw, Octahedrons shaping up to be great. I met Omar outside dingwalls in camden when i went to see the quintet recently. Had a smoke with him and he signed my ticket. One of the best moments in my life. Was really funny too, all these emo kids were walking around camden and not one of them recognised him! The guy who's old band practically created emo was meters away from them and they didn't realise. Was a little ironic. :)
eh, atdi didn't creat emo you twit. if you ever read their lyrics, they weren't about broken hearts and fights with gf's and cutting wrists. they were almost the same sort of abstract as tmv's lyrics. you wan't emo? look up dashboard confessional...poster child of emo.
OMG your a MORON! did I say that ATDI were emo? no. I didn't. I said they created it. They were a Post-hardcore band. They were THE Post-hardcore band. If you knew anything about punk rock music you'd know that Emo evolved from post-hardcore and post-hardcore is essentially 'early emo'. ATDI didnt have to be emo themselves to actually be responsible for creating the genre. You twit. hahahahaha
Hes allowed to have an opinion. The Mars Volta are my favorite band, but what REALLY lets them down is their fan base, people like you who think that anyone who criticises them do not have a valid opinion. Amputechture wasn't great, lets be honest. There were a couple of good songs. Thats my opinion. Your like some guy whos whole identity rests on being a TMV fan. THATS fucked up man, get a life. We're not talking about poverty or terminal disease here, we're talking about pop music.
haha dude, youre out of control. and look at that! i used "youre" correctly! he could have just been saying they are always consistently great and this is just another add on, but look at that. you went and flipped a shit at him over nothing. you have some problems dude haha.
shyt i was wrong....dis song rawks the best so far....very very beautiful n kinda creepy...the whole album reminds me of nick drake...stuff very folk-ish...
then you don't deserve to be a volta fan if you did not appreciate the bedlam you don't know anything about this guys and what they're all about.....one band is not one album dude!

OH NO, i guess i dont deserve to be their fan either! and since i dont like all bands, i guess i'm not a fan of music in general! and i dont like new simpsons, i guess i was never a fan!
each time I hear this song it becomes more and more hypnotic. The new stuff is incredible, the evolution of this great band is going in the same direction as other greats. Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Cedric sounds absolutely insane on the new tracks...
Yea, I can't wait to hear this album as a whole. The 4 songs so far all are great in their own way. Of coarse you will see the people that say that it's not Deloused, they are right. It's not. It's not supposed to be. It's the mother f-ing Octahedron. Cedric sounds better than ever on this song.
You are right in every way man! Always the same with new albums, people complaining that it's different than their old stuff. People should be glad that they don't stick to the same formula.
fuck them it only shows their lack of progression towards anything, if you cannot evolve as a person and on every level of life you should die painfully The Mars Volta as every great band is evolving or has evolved and their sound is more mature and less chaotic ,yes, but perhaps is because the've grown as musicians and lets face it they are done with the drugs and is pretty obvious the result of that....
i wouldnt say they are done with the drugs per se...
they are showing they arent one trick ponies, this isnt the future of the volta. this is a small part of a much larger picture. lp6 is going to epic i reckon. like noting the world will have experienced before like all other volta albums. the way he band have discribed this album is that it will be known as their acoustic album. not that it is an acoustic album. its their mutation of acoustic cedric has said cotopaxi is sick so check that out
I feel another ground breaking album coming soon... After hearing the leak of the other song, I think its safe to say these guys arent losing speed...
Everything song is amazing in its own special way. Either say something nice or go fuck yourself. The Mars Volta rule. They are truly musical prodigies. I'm always impressed. Since '01 until now, I've always been pleased and surprised with their music. If you don't agree then shut the hell up and go listen to fuckin' good charlotte, or jonas brothers or some gay shit like that. BITCHES!
i just want omar and cedric to alienate every fake Mars Volta fan as soon as possible so i dont have to hear, "it's not as good as deloused or FTM." the songs that have leaked so far have been incredrible.
Song placement is important in some cases. De-loused and especially Frances are dependant on the structure of the album as a whole. Placement doesn't make a lazy thoughtless song sound any better though. That's a terrible argument. However, I'm willing to listen to Octa all the way through before forming an official opinion, but off the record, I'm not impressed yet.
The second half of this track reminds me of that segue in Pink Floyd's "Echoes" where Rick Wright's Hammond organ breaks through the "underwater" sound effects. I'm expecting the high C "ping" to come in any minute, but it never does.
Oh, yeah! If you all are big TMV fans, how is this shit really different from their other shit? It still has has the same vibe to me! Plus they released three other tracks from Octahedron that kick crazy ass!
Hey, YouTube junkies and TMV fans like me, according to Omar and Cedric, this is supposed to be their ACOUSTIC album! And in response to 25snakesaredrowning down here, I'm high before, during, and after their concerts, so I gots plenty of energy!
Sigh. Claiming to be the biggest Mars Volta fan and then saying something like this is almost depressing. Desperate Graves is growing on me a little, but other than that, I'm really hoping the rest of the album is mindblowing because things aren't looking very promising at the moment.
