Being that the parts are made in Quebec I,m concerned the neck may want to sepatate from the body if it chose to do so unless the right tunes are played or are there extra special screws to secure it that other guitars don,t need?
Being from quebec "Godan" would be the france french way of saying it. Tough to spell this one out but "Guhdein" without fully sounding out the N is correct. I love the features of this guitar, but i wish it had more finish options like the freeway classic. I dig the slab of tree look, but the blue flame with maple fretboard on the freeway is gorgeous. Also, I usually don't like guitar world reviews, but I think Paul did a great job with this one.
Not gonna lie but strat type bodied guitars piss me off so much. I don't mean to say that there was not a similar design before the Fender Strat but the overused shape makes me not want to buy guitars. Weird, eh, I know.
Its just something that pisses me off big time lol.
Any other copy is ok but I think I'm sick of seeing all of these strat look-a-likes.
@AirHendrix91 I love the shape, so classy. But guitar companys need to get more creative even subtle changes to a common body shape would make a huge difference. Guitar companys know that they don't have to do anything fresh anymore since they know all the little 16 year old pimple faced twats who have rich parents just want whatever they're favorite guitar hero plays. Mainly fender and gibson though there are lots of other brands that strive to do new things.
ok i'm faced with a bit of a delema here: i like this guitar a lot as far as its looks and functionality go, but is it good for metal? Im interested in versatility. does this stock guitar do well for everything, or should i swap pickups or get a pedal to get a more metal sound for when i play slayer and metallica and such?
@manbearpig91 wondering the exact same thing, im a classic player for the most part but i also like doing the occasional metallica gig, hopefully someone has an answer
@manbearpig91 i dont own it but ive played around with it and it can get some pretty good metal tones out of it. and i was just using a little roland combo amp so it should be pretty good if you have even better equipment haha
@dacorner8 depends on what type of music you play, what sounds best to you, and what feels best to you. ibanez is pretty good though. i dont like fender too much, it feels bad to my hands.

Well you gotta compare and contrast and decide which one you would prefer. The Velocity is a more versatile guitar but the Les Paul is a classic for rock.
I whole-heartedly recomend these guitars to anyone. These are pro quality at fender mim prices! Spend a few more dollars in upgraded hardware and electronics on these things and yer very easily into custom shop quality level guitar! My 90's Artisan ST HSS blows away any modern Fender, or post Fender Charvel product clean outta the water...before mods!
I own a 90's Godin Artisan ST hss and a Freeway classic hsh and the Velocity or the Progression is next on my list. Although I'm not totally in love with some of Robert Godin's asthetic ideas....I simply cannot fault the incredible quality of Godin guitars. I paid 500.00 Can. for my Freeway, and I haven't been able to part with it 'cos it just plays and feels so damn good! I have played all kinds of strats, from mim's to custom shops and they all feel like crap compared to my 500.00 Freeway!
These guitar's are expensive!I think you're way better off with Carvin or Brian Moore in this price range.Carvin shows an attention to detail I've never seen in another guitar company.
I'd like to clarify this. This guitar is not that expensive, it retails for about 850CAD$ at my local shop and from my personal stand point, it competes nicely with the Fender American Standart that are in the same price range.
@sexyduck69 Some guitar pickups just lay there and magnetically measure the vibrations of the strings, it works just fine. But you can make the signal more powerful if you run an electrical signal through them, usually with a battery, it's sort of like pre-amplifying the signal in an amp (usually called gain). So the signal goes to the amp already pumped up a bit, which is great if you're gonna crank out some rough, loud riffage.
It also allows you to get that distorted sound at lower volumes
The active pick ups has more power, gain and hot sound, while passive has less attack. However, that depends of pick up´s quality and price . Many players use active, but also many players use passive ´cause don´t have to think about battery change. lol
@fallingspears77 No, the passive sound will just run without the battery. However it will be worth it to carry the 9volt. Active pickups always have an awesome sound. Just sucks to constantly replace the battery. But it's worth it in my opinion.
Two years ago I had to choose between some relatively affordable guitars, and when I already thought I'll go for a $500 Ibanez, I discovered Godin guitars and they blew me away the same second! I guess that "made in America" label still means "this is quality, not some Asian shit". In love with Godin guitars since then.
Actually, it's "assembled in the USA from parts hand-crafted in Canada". Sorry if I insulted anyone, none the less, they are still North-American product and they rock!
im looking for a guitar with a humbucker at the bridge a single coil at the neck and thats it, if you could give me some suggestions it would be highly appreciated, thanks
the sound is louder when he switched on the active pickup switch. Does it mean that guitar with active pickups is always louder and better than passive pickups? Any comment on that.
it really depends on what you want, i play metal and use actives for more high gain awesomeness. Passives are more for blues jazz and classic rock in my opinion
Well, its really apples and oranges my friend. The CT is basically the "Les Paul" and the Velocity is the "Strat" with added versatility, so it depends on which sonic camp you fall into. If what you're saying is correct about the pricing, these have to be the best value in guitars today! Forget all the low-end ESP's and Schecters (as good as they are...). I wish I knew what kind of Amp Paul is playing through here because the Tone is excellent. Peace. -dave
Hes not diverse at all, he plays preactically the same things every video - and, this being my primary complant, he just doesnt get that good a tone, regardless of the gear he's reviewing.
@C7Blackjack Not even, I'm French and you really can't pronounce it in English. It in is like a person imitating a buzzer. EINNNNNN...not ann. I don't know if you understand, just thought I'd say it. You should go do guitar videos for Guitar Player instead. Right now they only have Jimmy Leslie doing their videos and he's really hard to watch. They need someone much better.

are those pickups normally passive? the sound of them as passive isnt wrecked just because of this active/passive switch thing is it?

They don't really turn active, that button is just an active EQ/Preamp, which makes it sound similar to how active do.

if i dont want the active sound, then i dont need the nine-volt battery right?

None, with the switch you can choose between active and passive.
But passive creates a new world of sounds.
Anyway, you shouldn't place batteries if you don't use the active part. :)
