  • 0:56 was actually 1979. Sure there was a massive wreck that Benny Parsons said looked like a plane crash, but 1979 had the wreck that happend in two waves that wiped out 17 or more cars.

  • Bobby Isaac pulled over because the voice told him that the next lap would be his last one.

  • its a big fast race track i do believe it was to big at the time for the cars speed and safety aspect but as far as the sabatagde of the cars that i am sure was just a wrong doing of some one within the sport who was desperate of almost anything to win or even survive in the series power can cause people to do things they would not normally do

  • other than davey allison's chopper crash, virtually every single element of weirdness at talladega has been associated with pure unadulterated speed. pure and simple.

  • "A voice told him to park." Yeah, blame it on the Indian!

  • @switchhitter08 "A voice tells me to rate this video". Yeah, thumbs up! xD

  • 2:39 thers like no grandstands! much less than todays talladega.

  • How come Keef doesn't like Talladega?

  • Higgins is wrong about Issac - what Issac said was "something told me to get out of the car." That "something" was Issac's heart - he was scared of having a heart attack.

  • Answering Tom Higgins' question about the Talladega Jinx - I'd say it's long dead. The October Diehard 500 has had a lot of enormously competitive racing but next to nothing in the way of weirdness - the only first-timer from this race since 1988 was Brian Vickers.

  • @STP43FAN1 i'd say scott riggs' car doing cartwheels down the frontstretch is pretty bizarre

  • Is there a video on the 1974 cars being sabotaged?

  • @Carfire45 Not sure. I think somewhere in the old Car & Track archives there was footage.

  • or the 'spooky' stuff could be because they are going so fast and its a big race....

i just don't buy there curse stuff.

  • @gitwood wrong again. so, what does loving America have to do with the talladega curse?

  • @gitwood now there's an intelligent, redneck, whitetrash response! let me guess--alabama, right? married to your cousin? sister??

  • this is about the most stupid video on all of youtube

  • @Nascarfanfedex11 WTF can u hear??

  • Ironicly the 2009 Aarron's 499 was won by a car sponored by an Indian Tribe. THE IRONY!

  • @RunerRacerPeniguin5 i just realized that... damn, im a dumbass!

  • @RunerRacerPeniguin5 wow never paid attention to that holy crap

  • @RunerRacerPeniguin5 Maybe that finally broke the curse

  • Medicine man?... Hell no, its just so fucking fast

  • 1:22 is an extremely creepy segment, that picture of the indian dude suffers from the uncanny valley.

  • a driver died in a crash i believe in 1971 or 72 and it was a really small minor accident but he died from head injuries

  • @miles24fig yeah. this is creepy. but the part about the minor accident is true.

  • @miles24fig I have a possible solution to the minor fatal crash. He may have died before he hit the wall. He may have had a heart attack, or a stroke in the car.

  • May it is Keith Richards, lol

  • the big crash wasnt a curse, the drivers were just stupid XD

  • @cybershot102 your theory is wrong. professionals arent stupid...much

  • What Would Happen If Bobby Isaac Did Not Get Out Of His Car!!!!!

  • He died 1 year later in a race car at Hickory Speedway when he returned to driving. A heart attack brought on from heat.

  • @jamespic guessing he would maybe.....die.

  • @jamespic he would probal cut a tire like bobby allison spin fly up and go INTO THE GRANDSTANDS not hitting the fence killing him and dozens and dozens of people thats a good jamespic

  • @jamespic thats a good question sorry

  • You guys also forgot about Neil Bonnett's crash during the 1993 Diehard 500.

  • Wendall Scott was hurt seriously in the winston 500 crash and ended his career.

  • can someone plz make a remake of this video with the stuff in this + more recent stuff, like edwards' bad crash and the caution light coming apart?

  • @XxPunk1995xX dude, that is correct. if i get all the info and equipment i will make that video.

  • And yesterday, Carl Edwards flipped and hit the fence on the final lap in the COT!

  • few years ago (2002 or 2003) at the EA Sports 500, Mark Martin was starting 2nd, Johnson was starting 1st. Martin lost steering during the pacelaps and took himself and Johnson out before the race even started. They never found any problem with martin's steering either, though he said it 'locked up'.

  • In 1973, larry smith was killed in a crash in turn 4 when he just brushed the wall

  • sorry i meant watch it without that guy talking. ill listen to it again to hear what he says at 49-51, its the lund crash though,

  • no, trust me nascarfanfedex11, the narrator is talking about the "huge crash that came in 2 waves and took out 1/2 the field" in 1973 when your watching the tiny lund crash that happened in 1975. freeze frame it at 56 sec and keep doin it. what you first see is terry links pontiac just a milli second after he hits lunds car, but you can see a slight cloud of smoke where it did first hit it, and the 2 cars stay in the t-boned position clear to turn 3. listen to it without that guy talking

  • at 56 sec. into this is the actual crash that took the life of tiny lund. the narrator is talking about a massive crash in 1973 at the time of the lund crash, so that made me not look at it closely. but if you keep freeze framing it youll see the red #30, ballard, on the bottom left and jd mcduffie headed for the wall on the bottom right, terry link hits lunds car on the left side of screen and pushes it clear to turn 3, it goes out of sight momemtarily, then comes back. thank you kk3869

  • I remember the 'curse' subject coming up after Phil Parson's wild flip in the 1983 Winston 500. And yes, the medicine man does look like death-warmed-over Keith Richards lol.

  • Okay....tell me that creepy looking medicine man isnt a dead ringer for Keith Richards

  • im grateful for the talladega curse video. in that video just after the hawaiian tropic on track part theres a car flipping and it looks like the driver came out of the car. does anyone know who it is? also is there any footage in the video of the actual tiny lund/terry link/jd mcduffie/walter ballard crash? i see the wrecker haulin them away afterwards. if not, does anyone know where i could find such a thing? thank you

  • wait just at the latest tally race #43 was running up high and then suddenly, for no reason his car started 2 slide down the track, hitting Kyle Busch and starting the "big one"

  • Ricky Craven and Jimmy Horton, anyone?

  • I would like to add Mark Martin going into the infield.

  • that's freakin scary, espicially that indian

  • he would have been the best driver today if he was still around

  • *snigger*

    OK, yeah... sure he would.

Hey, I liked him too, but be real. He'd be headed for 50, and when he died he had 19 wins in nearly 200 starts. There are plenty of showings by other drivers that are as good, if not better.

If he was alive now he'd be competing with the likes of Gordon, Johnson, Stewart and others and trying to cope with the COT.

"Best" would be a pretty dubious claim for a guy who never won a championship just because he won 5 races twice.

  • ya and he also had his life CUT SHORT, just like gilles villenuve, he didn't have enough time to win a championship and the man even said that he wouldnt have 7 championships if Davey were still around

  • hmmm it makes you wonder sometimes. maybe its just coincidence or maybe it really is a curse. but you know nothing has really happend since the death of alison .

  • When was this made?

  • 1997, as Tom refered to at the beginning of the video about the Diehard 500 moving on the schedule from July to October.

  • woah kinda creepy

  • kinda makes you think

  • lol at the gatecrasher stealing the pace car

  • another wierd thing they missed about that race was there was a driver killed in the most harmless accident, the crew was ready for the car to race again, but they found out their driver was killed

  • That was Larry Smith in the 1973 race. He took the padding out of his helmet because it was irritating his scalp. He then cut down a tire and drove around for two laps, trying to impress the executives from his sponsor, Carling, but crashed and died.

  • thanks...found out it was Smith but thanks for the details

  • I once read that Talladega was possibly built on sacred Native American burial grounds, also.

  • the indian was freaky

  • hmmm i guess your right, but i didnt know tiny lund was killed either. and that bobby issac thing. and bobby allison. and what about earnhardt flipping in '96? well great video

  • what about elliot sadler

he's had some bad luck here

    hard crash in 02

    flips in 03 and 04

talladega hasn't been nice to elliot sadler.

  • This has been something that I've been wondering about for quite a while, perhaps since I can remember. "What's with the Curse?"

It's one of the most interesting sidestories in NASCAR history. Who will the curse take out next at Talladega? One will wonder.

  • Very interesting; that's Tom Higgins isn't it?

  • @nadeau1064 oh i don't know the caption that comes up under him doesn't mean anything
