I really like the Mike Shinoda comparrison, because like him it's a very unconventional use of rap, and one I really like. I think it's a better use of rap, as a propper instrument fitting in to create like a melodic drone to the melody, along with ofcourse having some really great lyrics. So many worlds away from just rapping over a catchy but monotonous bassline.

@pintozazz I would disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion :D I myself aren't well versed in the world of rapping, I'm more of a rock guy, so that's as far as I go with rap. I was clearly pointing out that the tone of Zack's voice and certain tempo meters of his verses are slightly, if not more, similar to Mike Shinoda. Don't be so negative, man.
