I too loved both the scenic and audio context - oh, ok, trees and bells - and the snatch of hydraulic action. I hasten to add, however, that the steam coverage is what I come for!
Can I repeat a plea? ... "and only led the train when bunker first and is therefore not shown..." is fine and understandable, in a way, but bunker-first operation happened a lot in the G.O.D., and I think tank locos look good that way round.
Thanks. I like to give the shots of the locos a context and scenic shots also act as cutaway transitions between similar scenes. The bells coincided with the arrival of the warship and as such the shots of the church and village fitted the context.
I don't think tank locos look so good approaching you and the prairie did not pass when we were positioned for profile shots. Moving locations and avoiding missing action is not always easy and you have to focus on the important shots.
Wonderful Maybach Music Mike, they've done a marvellous job on both those locos. Shame about the Valley's unkempt appearance they should take a note of the WSR Winter Clearance....excellent footage as always..Bob
Thanks Bob. Unfortunately the music leaves me unmoved, but at least they looked reasonably photogenic, unlike your standard box! Unkempt? I hope you aren't referring to the bluebells! The WSR clearance was highly impressive, but they seem to factor such activities into their operations, whereas the SVR don't. Too busy shoring up the line maybe!
Thanks Austin. Unfortunately the Victoria Bridge with 802 shot suffered from the squall which coincided with its arrival.
I've been struggling to post my comment to your site on the NYMR Gala which was very enjoyable. Either YT refused to carry out the post command, which is the impression I got, or you have three identical comments!
Thanks. The church and village scenes were shot at Arley. We think there was a wedding and the timing of the bells was perfect for the arrival of D821
Excellent videography ,thanks a lot

I wonder what this SVR was like in 1959?

Just a thought.
More power to your lens.

Very enjoyable Mike, great coverage of the event. I do like the vantage point for the scenes at Victoria Bridge, shows off the scenery so well

7802 seemed to be steaming well. Nice to see a pair of maroon hydraulics as well.

Very nice, I really like the spring foliage too. Great to hear the church bells too; can you tell us where this scene is located?
