A Brilliant series. I hope one day the BBC will re-air it so that a whole new generation can enjoy the company of the Clock family and learn from their struggles and triumphs.
This was the first "proper" book I ever read as a little girl. I was entranced then aged 7 and now at 65 every bit as much. This film version of the book is superb, beyond any criticism. The 1997 film is an insult to the genius of Mary Norton and should never have borne the title "The Borrowers", and it is an utter disgrace to have cheapened her work by making it so unlike the book. The BBC as usual are unsurpassed in their film production of this book and other classics.
@gilyat I totaly Agree... i dont like the 1997 movie... its nothing like i imagined and its got nothing to do with the book... i perfur this Series more as i love the charecters and the acters who play them... i dont think anyone can play this charecters....
I love this series it was my fave to watch and now i have bought it on dvd ^_^ i love the book and these series more ^_^
@madasawethen Looked on Ebay... been wanting it on dvd since i was 8 so ^_^ yeah hehehe... i am sure you can find it on Amazon ... but i got mine from ebay
I have never watched The Borrowers or the sequel to this until only a few days ago. Thank you for uploading this! I really enjoyed George's character in these movies. The good friend looking out for them whenever possible. I thought it was also really cool that The Borrowers had a tie to the "Human Beans" through George. The ending also made me quite sad as well. But, I suppose it had to be done. I wish they could have worked out something to where George could still visit them, ya know?
aww the ending :( well it was a great movie. but maybe Arrietti and Spiller get married :) thank u sooooo much for uploading this! i loved it and i think i might read the book too. even if there isnt a sequel i will still imagine they go back to little Fordham anyways :) yeah i sometimes add on to endings i dont really like.
Aw, I was sort of hoping they would stray from the book and have them stay in Little Fordham in the end. On the other hand I really respect it for sticking to the book in that respect (this whole thing has been a really good adaptation!). And at least we have "The Borrowers Avenged" that we can read to see what comes after this. :-)
Thanks so much. I used to borrow this version from the library before we moved. I LOVED it. It was so well done and so close to the books. Its great to be able to see it again after so many years. Great share!
Beautiful movie!! sometimes it reminds me land of the giants!! I hope there´s another sequel and this time arrieti and george aren´t separated!! anyawy 5 stars for this fantastic movie!!!
and thanks for posting the 1992 version also! loved watching them both again. i cant remember the last time i saw them!
