The top comments in this article are both retarded.
1 - The Powerbook 100 costs $2500 in 1991, so if anything Apple's have gotten MORE affordable for the general public. MacBook Pro's now start at $1199, how is that "turning into elitists"? I see why this person closed their account.
2 - This computer is not even capable of running OS 9. Or even OS8. The best it could do was 7.6.1. So you DON'T miss this computer crashing running OS9.
Very innovative pieces were those PowerBooks. I just wish Apple were now what they were back then - a great company. Now they have turned into Elitist Biggots who get by simply by bashing the crap out of Microsoft... and it's not as if they got the result they expected either.
Well Mac OS 9 and earlier versions mostly crashed because of bad third party extensions that was poorly written. Old Macs with Mac OS 7, 8 and 9 can run for months without reboot if you want them to.
well rlly macs were better than pc back in the 90s and 80s when pc were slow and hard to use but now you can pay $1000 for a pc and get a equally equiped mac for like $2500 or more i like macs but i just dont wanna spend all of that money on something so under powered
You may not be able to run Flash videos on that PowerBook, but you can hook it up to a network and connect to the Internet. System 7.5 and Mac OS 7.6 has built-in support for TCP/IP. Running iCab wouldn't be a problem and probably not posting a comment on YouTube.
@AEigner I used to have one. In my experience, when the battery was still working, I could keep it running unplugged for two and a half hours. Good enough to write a lengthy report but not really enough for a long trek to the mountains unless you pack extra batteries.
I remember using my dad's Powerbook 170 when I was in grade school. This commercial takes me back.

Apple portables then had replaceable batteries so you can pack a spare and do your office work on top of a mountain. :)

And the monochrome display means extra hours of usage. Was the display of this Powerbook backlit?
