  • Loved your video. I've seen more than one, they're all good. And your kids are adorable. Here's my question, Can I use whole wheat flour that I grind myself for your recipes, or do I need to buy the gluten flour?

    Thanks,

    Goingvegan

  • @mangalawter Gluten Flour it has like a meat Tex to it hope you like it and be sure to subscribe and see you next week

  • @mangalawter Yes you can. It is known as seitan. Add water to flour until it is a sticky ball. Let rest for 15 minutes to an hour depending on moisture content. Then "wash" the dough by kneading in clean water to remove the starch. There are video how to's and recipes all over the net.

  • "I get my Gluten flour from**mumble mumble**" ... where did you say you get it from? Wayne Co? lol Holy crap that looks goooood!!

  • @washie2012 did you still fry it , it should still come out good even if it dose not rise.

  • what is brags that you added to the water?

  • what is brags that you added to the water?

  • do you dip it in some kind of bread crumb mixture before you fry it or did you just dip it in oil after you season it?

  • can i use regular whole wheat flour

  • how do you stay so thin? I see you all eat fried food and lots of popcorn oil. Just wondering. I love making gluten nuggets, but I tend to bake them, I don't have a deep fryer and I don't have to watch them so much that way.

  • @dvorakfan1 I only make it like one a month maybe I try new stuff everyday and the best way to have a flat belly is to not drink while you eat it will make the food set in yo belly for a long time and turn into fat, you should waite an hour or to or drink b4 you eat, I will be posting lots more tips on my other channel saveyonfoods. also when eating fried stuff eat a big salid first then eat the rest you will be lil full so you wont eat as much fried

  • @tglashen Amen! Have you heard of Wildwood College of Health Evangelism?

  • @JesustheChristSDA yes iv heard of it is that were you atend

  • Okay, you won't believe this, but I just finished watching your video about 40 minutes ago. I just made this recipe and I've already cleaned up the kitchen! This was so quick and easy to make! I could not believe how crispy and full of texture this is! It's amazing! (Obviously, I skipped the yeast and the two hour wait. I just did not have the yeast). This was still an awesome recipe. You were right to say, "Season the flour until the color changes". That makes the right taste. AWESOME!!!

  • @OrenjiOrange AWESOME now you can tweek it to things you like, like making bolls and make nugets and bake it with some bar-b-q sause on it and the list go' on make sure to add my new channel it will only be food on there (saveyonfoods)

  • what a beautiful woman... & some beautiful & energetic kids

  • Aww you're cute :)

  • youre becoming one of my favorite youtubers! thanks for the vid, gotta try this coz i kinda miss chicken sometimes lol

  • can you use gluten free flour as well?

  • @universal9sun im not sure but it dosent hurt to try let me know how it comes out

  • @universal9sun Gluten-Free Flour will not work, because gluten is the protein part of the flour that will act as the imitation meat. If you try to use gluten-free flour you will have fried dumplings instead of 'chicken'. If you want to try another meat substitute you can try TVP.

  • Love your kids xD

  • This is soooooo helpful!! Folks made it sound so hard in other recipes (Working class foodies, listen up!). thank you!!

  • I finally made this tonight and OMG! It was UHmazing! Even my meat-eating family loved it!! Followed the recipe 1 cup of gluten flour to 1 tbs yeast (I used nutritional yeast) and seasoned the crap out of it, added some braggs to the water. SO EASY and FAST! This will be a mainstay in my household for sure!! Many thanks!

  • This recipe looks awesome! What a fantastic idea to just stretch it and then drop it in the oil! So quick and easy! Great tip on seasoning the flour until it looks "colorful"!

  • @tarapotamus let me no how yours comes out

  • can u put the recipe on your website? i can't really hear clearly on what you say in the video.

  • thankyou for posting :)...is it good tho?

  • I have tried to make this and my dough didnt rise... i have used the dry actiive yest and also the nutrional yeast flakes. dont know what i am doing wrong... i tried to make the homemade glutin and they turned out really chewy help me please...

  • @ChelyahIsrael1 try more yeast and let it set longer

  • Where do you buy your wheat gluten from to get it so cheap! :)

  • Was the yeast you used nutritional yeast, which I have seen in Seitan recipes, or Active dry yeast, as in baking? Thanks.

  • @ktoz73 it was active dry yeast

  • @theshmed yes you can make it with out the broth yeaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • where do you find all of that wheat gluten for $2...

  • looks very good. I noticed you didn't boil your seitan first. Very interesting. I'll be cooking this really soon.

  • This is awesome! I'm gonna try this recipe out ASAP! Btw you're a mommy? How do you keep such a great figure?

  • never mind about the SDA question. I just happen to look at the comments in one of your vids and found you have already answered this question. I knew it! you are an inspiration and a blessing to me. thank you!

  • Are you SDA? i hope you don't mind me asking...if so i apologize in advance.

  • Hello. are you using "vital"wheat gluten, and yeast? I used VWG in a box and a little pack of dry active yeast, it did nothing (no rise). So i watched a few other vids on seitan or VWG and they said to boil for @ an hour. I did, but it didn't come out quite like yours, which what i wanted. crispier gluten, you know?

  • i have learned that if you rinse the TVP 2 or 3 times and then season then they taste so much better. TVP has a little after taste and when you rinse it it washes this away. Also if you let it sit in the frig for a day or so it takes on the flav even more.

  • Hey, when I try to cook something from wheat gluten it becomes like a chewing gum for me. What am I doing wrong? And what is nutritional yeast for? because in my country we don`t have it. Is it necessary for better texture? At the moment I`m trying to mix wheat gluten with pea flour, but its still very gummy and don`t even seem like meat

  • Girl your kids are to cute

  • did you use vital wheat gluten flour or gluten flour, because when i used the vital wheat gluten flour it did not rise at all. Please help!!

  • I just made this chik'n tonight. I revamped the recipe a little to fit the ingredients I had on hand but it turn out fabulous. My children liked it.

  • Wow, I'm so glad I found you! I'm new to vegan and this will really help me when I am craving chicken, which is alot :-) I subscribed. Thank you for posting.

  • would be great if you write the ingredients, thanks :)

  • yum i love being a vegitarian

  • those kids are ADORABLE!

  • hold up! i been making this for about 2 years now.. so you telling me i can skip the simmering in the broth part? you just save me time and money. lol! THANKS! i got batch resting right now that i was about to simmer in a broth... screw that! lol ! but i will still dip it in the(soy) buttermilk and and seasoned flour before i deep fry it. with 3 toddlers running around, skipping a step is a big help!

  • I just subscribed and I really like your videos.

  • hello i try to this with vital wheat gluten flour and i put the active yeast wait to hours and it seems my dough did not double or rise any advise thank you this is my second try and follow your recipe thanks .

  • The kids were sooo cute! "My Mommy is a good maker"

  • That is some really inexpensive wheat gluten! =O

Where did you purchase it? From a local store?

Also, I'm going to try adding that rising yeast to mine. I've heard of people using nutritional yeast(doesn't rise) to add in B12 vitamins, and flavor but not regular rising yeast. Crispier is certainly better! =)

Thank you for sharing this recipe.

P.S Your adorable children look as if they could be your young siblings! lol. =)

  • I was so excited about making this tonight that when it didn't work out I nearly cried. lol I am really curious what could have done wrong. How many cups of water did you add? I used about 1 Cup of gluten flour & it didn't rise too much, & when it was done rising the dough had lots of bubbles in it. I placed the dough in broth, flour, & then when I placed the dough in the oil it puffed up to 4x it's original size & was as light as a feather & basically fried dough that was soft, not crispy

  • I've made these and the taste and texture are right on but every other batch puffs up like a donut. What am I doing wrong? It seems like they may be too big (about 1" cubes) or maybe I need to pull the dough before I fry it so the air is out if them? Please help, this is my favorite new vegan dish! Peace, Jai.

  • It didn't look like you put flour on them this time or broth. In your last video you dropped them in the broth & then the flour & then oil, right? I'm confused. lol

  • @RiceARonia im lazy so some time i dont dip it in flour but it will b extra crispy if u dip it in flour
