Everyone says the .22 isnt lethal, well wouldnt a shot to your forehead crack your skull and leave you help less while you hold your head. Then a shot or two to the neck could put you in the ground once you sufficate.
Pt.1--I had one for a while. It got stolen eventually, but I loved it, especially once I put a scope on it. Easy to hold and aim, three rails, you can convert it L-R handed, and adjust the stock length. The rubber foregrip inserts kept falling out, so I had to glue them in (this one is missing the front set, maybe intentionally for cooling). I fired several 1,000 rounds, and then the screw holding the bolt handle on snapped off inside the bolt. They repaired it for free, but it took months.
Pt. 2---I had it for several more weeks and fired it every day. I took it apart for cleaning, and found a big crack through the cast receiver. Note that the gun functions fine w/o cleaning the action, but gets very dirty inside the closed action. If you do take it down, it has lots of small pieces and 2 tiny springs that try to get lost very easily. I lost the mag safety spring the 1st time I tried, although it worked fine w/o it. I'd avoid taking it down too much.
Pt.3--Like I said, it is very reliable despite the fouling that builds up (.22's tend to shoot dirty). This is because it has an almost free floating bolt and twin guide rods/return springs that keep the bolt aligned. Anyway, I found the crack, and returned it again. This time they sent a whole new gun. It was a refined model, with a spring-wire ejector instead of bent metal, and a bigger screw holding the bolt-handle on. Plus the grips stayed in place.
Pt.4--I never had any more issues with it, and would recommend it, if it's a higher-# gun. The trigger was the only thing I could complain about as far as function goes. It connects to the sear via a long wire rod. There is some play, and the angles could have been better thought out. Besides that, the actual sear was a bit stiff. W/o the leverage of the trigger, it was hard to push. You end up with a long takeup and a stiff final pull. Accuracy <1" @ 50m, with scope, and irons were adjustable.
this gun is on mobtsers in myspace and facebook under laser targeted rifles i agree this weapon does jam under auto fire but it is quite an accurate and minimal recoiless gun
idiot, the iron sights are raised, so the scope must be mounted high, all you need to do is tune ur scope so it corresponds with the barrel at certain distances.
I just went to the gun store today and saw this for the first time and fell in love! lol But yea its $580 but it comes with 2 Magz, Scope, Laser so thats not to bad
My brother paid $700 for his MagLite so the G22 seem fairly priced then again i live in Cali so i wouldnt know what regular price would be
Anyways, Do you have any problems beside ammo jams when rappid firing?
Anything you dont like on it?
Well im trying to make up my mine between the GSG 5 and the W22
I too live in cali, and I bought a W.G22 for $545, plus an additional $153 for the scope and bi-pod. Its an "ok" weapon. Not very reliable, but fun to shoot around, rarely.
why do soo many people bag on the .22? i will fuck you up with one from 75 yard assholes. 3 shots. 2 in ur chest, and 1 in ur fuckin head to shut you the fuck up.
Amen! Penetration is the major cause of damage and the .22 LR is powerful enough to penetrate any part of the body. The only difference in a higher caliber is the size of the final hole and the size of the temporary cavity. The difference in hole size is negligible and there is NO hard difference that temporary cavity causes any immediate damage to tissue(ignoring the brain). The .22 is the worst kind of killer. The kind you don't take serious.
I'm going to start with an agreement with nitrousbuddy in the fact that .22 caliber guns are lethal and should be taken serious, but to say that there is a negligible difference damage when comparing different size calibers is incredibly obtuse! Point being that from a most elementary physics equation, F=ma or Force = mass x acceleration one can determine the amount of kinetic energy that a round of any given caliber will sustain.
Upon impact this energy is transferred, totally or partially in the case of over-penetration, and dispersed into the target. The shock wave initiated by the impact as well as the wound cavity itself is proportional the energy the projectile is carrying. Therefore a larger caliber and heavy grain (weight) bullet multiplied by a larger muzzle velocity will be exponentially more damaging than that of a smaller, lower velocity round. This of course negates differences in bullet design.
i.e. hollowpoint, fmj, incendiary, armor piercing rounds etc. Fact is you can kill with a carefully placed .22 shot but the damaging effects are much reduced in comparison to a larger caliber, higher velocity round, and to state otherwise is a gross oversight.
that seems to make sense until u think about the amount of force that actually gets delivered to your target. The bullet passes through you most of the time. The only exception being if it hits bone or if u have on some sort of protection to slow the bullet. In both of those cases the changes in powder and mass would be significant to the damage inflicted. But all of that force is still in the bullet after its cleared the torso except for the portion that made a temporary cavity
also consider this for a second:how much force can a bullet truly have?Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. That means that the force of the bullet must be roughly equal to the force of the recoil u receive from the gun. This means that aside from the possibility of hydrostatic shock (which is not fully proven to be lethal).Stopping power from a hand-weapon is a myth. The bullet is dangerous because the force of the bullet is concentrated in penetrating that one spot.
it is impossible to explain a complex concept like this in under 500 characters so if u are honestly interested in what I am saying here. Then i can link you to some literature.
@nitrousbuddy its a hitter choice weapon anyhu has enuf power to pierce bone once but not twice so a head shot would end up turnin brain matter to jelly from the round bouncin everywhere.. typical kids if it isnt in cod is not worth it. gimme a hushpuppy anyday!
@nitrousbuddy damn strait, SAS, and other British have used 22lr as some of there main weapons. Hell, one shot in the chest will fuck u up. Your not trying to wound a enemy in a firefight, ur going for killshots to eliminate.
@kentarros Actually wounding a man is, a smart way to go, because when you wound a man in battle his mates are going to drag him out of there, and takes men away from the front line, because they are taking the wounded back to the rear with the gear!
@isamtator plus if you wound a lot of them it will indidate people to join because then people will think they will experience heavy pain and oh wait i just forgot... Body armor ): And i shot myself in the foot with a ruger 10/22 once, i just remebered that. and now i remember it barely hurt, what hurt was getting it out
@isamtator well but remember not all soldiers likes to help the wounded ones , in many cases in the past were to kill them and save other rescuer lives .. :(
it may not look it but its got a 20" barrel on it, I own one of these and its a great gun. I was able to hit a 4 " target at 70 yards with this thing and thats without a scope
thats a really cool gun. i saw one with a carbon fiber stock. it looked really cool. i want one of these but we already have 2 22 rifles. we might be getting a kel-tec 32
@Hanswurst27278 I always thaught you could do it yourself...most bullpup guns I have seen you can by flipping a switch, moving a flap, or reversing a single part on it, but no matter how, you're right. they are built to be ambidextrous
@Hanswurst27278 I shoot rifles lefty, and swapped my G22 over with little trouble. With just a hex key and some punches, and you can swap the extractor and bolt handle over to the other side. All the other parts, ejection port plastic border, ejector, and slot covering the other side of the bolt handle, require no tools to swap over.
yea i usually just get the federal copperplated hollow point bulk pack from walmart(i was shooting these yesterday and compared them to the cc mini mags shooting at a golf ball and the mini mags didnt exit but the federal wont strait through! and they only cost 12 bucks for thew 550!
not too bad... a box of 550 rds will run about $12, and will last me 3-4 days. For the larger stuff, I reload, which drives the cost down.
it is expensive, but it's worth it. Shooting is a motion-repetitive skill; it needs to be ingrained into your muscle-memory over thousands of repetitions. Without the practice, there's no competence.
The Walther G22 is of bullpup configuration. The guts are placed back in the stock. This gives the little rifle room for a 20" barrel. Concerning the noise to barrel length relation, the shorter the barrel a firearm has, the less time the gunpowder will have to burn inside the barrel. This means that more gunpowder will come out of the barrel unburned with a shorter barrel, and then burning outside. This will create a louder noise.
No, it's relatively quiet. I just use hearing protection with everything, because even .22s can ruin your hearing over the long run. And I shoot a lot, almost every day.
I have a Ruger MKII Target Pistol and I took it apart once to clean it. I spent about two hours trying to get it back together,it is very difficult. You'd be much better off buying a Walther P22 or a Sig Sauer Mosquito, both are 22's. I bought a P22 and I'm very happy with it. I have a Sig Sauer Model 229 in 40 cal with a spare 357 sig barrel and it's great and easy to disassemble and reassemble. The Mosquito is of the same design.
I personally don't like the P22. it has an atrocious trigger, sub-par accuracy etc. The MkII is more complicated, but it shoots better. Much better. The field-stripping sucks, yes, but IMHO it's worth it for a better pistol.
I've taken squirrels with this rifle at 50 yds using high-velocity rds. I get a different point of impact with different brands though, so you gotta learn how your ammo behaves...

$350.
thinking about it now, I should have bought a Ruger MkII Target pistol with the money, but meh, thisn's fun too...

What's the effective range of this rifle for a sqirrel takedown? I like the CAMMO personal touch.

I've taken squirrels with this rifle at 50 yds using high-velocity rds. I get a different point of impact with different brands though, so you gotta learn how your ammo behaves...

It's a problem youtube has with VBR encoded audio. And non-VBR audio, as well, sometimes, maybe.
