Besides, I don't think the children in Jamaica are healthier because of ganja smoking. It has to do with their food. Their food is mostly fish and other vegetables and that is why.
@dbrebi You think this is an easy topic? I'm sorry but you do need to watch and understand this video. This is not about comparing Jamaican children to any others, it's about comparing Jamaican kids in similar circumstances with the variable being the mother uses cannabis. You had your moment being ignorant now take the time to educate yourself.
ive been sending people the link to this study for a looooong time. you would be surprised how more thorough this study was and much more accepted in the scientific community than other ones done in the united states. glad to have the video of it being explained by her.
I smoked weed everyday multiple times a day the first month, i had no idea i was pregnant til yesterday, i stopped smoking soon as i found out in the morning. can someone please tell me i'm going to be okay i'm 5 weeks. Inbox me or reply thanks..
@ShesHigherThan420 your gonna be fine. if your really worried ask your doctor. but a friend of mine told me his wife smoked through out her entire pregnancy. her son is 5 and he looks just fine. :)
I liked this video and did a little research on pot while pregnant. A lot of women said they used it to stop their morning sickness. My mom said she had terrible sickness while pregnant with me because she tried to eat healthy but couldn't. She said she could only eat greasy food and not get sick, but i think had she smoked pot back then she probably would've had a better pregnancy with me.
I have two daughters. I smoked before during and after. They are about to turn 3 and 4, are doing great physically, mentally and emotionally. Cannabis didn't do anything but help my morning sickness, fatigue and overall "pregnant", fun side effects. Seriously, all things in moderation.
Jct: It would have had Melanie Dreher found it harmed the children of using pregnant mothers. I'd have hoped that the neuro-genesis effect discovered at U. of Saskatchewan in 2006 (new brain cells) might have made a difference in the fetuses exposed to brain-growing cannabinoids. When you went back with your findings, you couldn't get refunded! No kidding. Government squelching your research on the benefits of marijuana use by pregnant mothers!
man i smoked before during and after pregnancy had 7 miscarriages before the weed helped me with my bp appetite and helped me have my son i was not supposed to even have kids thanks weed
@cyron4028 If you'd ever had hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) you would know that ingesting ANYTHING will make you throw up... and how could your baby survive/thrive without food and water? Plus, vaporize and it is thoroughly therapeutic-- NO HARM!!!
@DwhiteGirlJade lol, sorry, isee was making bullshit comments about how wikipedia and the pharmaceuticals were both owned by the Nazis. I'm not actually insane. :)
Ok so marijuana smoke good for fetus and tobacco smoke bad right..thought it was smoke either way didn't know that marijuana smoke goes to a different location in the body I learn something new everyday!!it just amazes me how many people step up to say pot is okay when you are pregnant and we are absolutly certain that it does no harm..risk your baby for a high or morning sickness that other women have dealt with since the beginning of time!!
@cyron4028 This study was on the effects of smoking marijuana, not a comparison study of it's effects against other remedies, such as ginger. I for one believe we, as humans, should use whatever works the best for us and not limit our arsenal of choices because of myth or politics.
@cyron4028 and you know how they've been dealing with morning sickness since the beginning of time? Marijuana. It's a natural plant that has been around for thousands of years- and being used for thousands of years.
@cyron4028 the difference between tobacco smoke and marijuana are HUGE. tobacco companies put all kinds of foul toxins into their product, and marijuana is a PLANT that has also been here since the beginning of time. Who says our ancestors weren't aware of its many uses? Native cultures have long been using it for their pregnant and laboring women.
@cyron4028 actually... cannabis had been used from the "beginning of time" up until a few years ago as time is counted AND morning sickness was one of the things it was used for..... learn before speaking.
Oh looked up hypermesis stuff and ginger is also an acceptable treatment but I bet you would say pot is natural and works better well so is ginger and I bet that would do even less harm then what pot would..
Ok that is what you come back with a 1% condition sounds like someone needs to suck it up and eat!!not to be mean but do you know what it feels like trying to get well from a STOMACH BUG? I have a reason to use cocaine now because my eye hurts and it was actually used in the 1800 for eye surgery!!I'm not against marijuana being used in medicinal form but that is not what people are using it for no other medicine do you get to choose what type and how much!!oh yeh I have TMJ I can get pot now!!
@smateogal.. Actually marijuana use lowers blood pressure and has been seen as a help in preclamsia. Please don't scare someone and i'm sorry for your friends loss, but their doctor must have been a hack and insensitive to blame it on marijuana use, preclamsia can happen to anyone.
I've been pregnant twice before now on my 3rd apparently. I stopped smoking tobacco cold turkey. Point being is the doctors gave me a medication for the morning sickness or what i'll call all through sickness but how do they expect it to work if i just throw it back up? if you can't keep anything down you'll get dehydrated and possibly put the unborn into harms way. My daughter is sharp as a tac and my son is on the otherside of the moon they want to boost him up 2 grades.
@cyron4028 have you heard of hyperemesis gravidarum? Essentially, it is severe morning sickness that can last into the third trimester and it is brutal. Mom & baby can suffer from dehydration, anemia, & general malnutrition. Unfortunately the medications prescribed are not as safe as desired and like darkmystickallette said, you have to be able to keep the pill down in order for it to work. Many women are prescribed marijuana which has been shown to be more effective than pharmaceuticals.
@cyron4028 Something you 'have to deal with?' You've obviously never heard of hypermesis. This is morning sickness to the point of women being dehydrated, malnourished, as well as causing death for them and or their unborn child. 1% of pregnant women are effected. (incase you're unaware, that is one out of every one-hundred pregnant women) Marijuana is a MIRACLE drug for these women. In these cases it saves lives.
@jucker1797 Thank you for posting this comment. Years ago I was one of those unlucky 1% & had to choose between the threats of CPS, dangerous prescriptions that cause deformities, & fear of my baby dying because I couldn't keep anything down. I self-medicated & had the wrath of CPS brought onto my head, but my baby was healthy & after some major hell, we were ultimately some of the lucky ones.
if you have an education what is the difference between a jamican women and american women you can not apply this crap 60 person study to all of america just not possible. so if you risk your baby on a 60 person study then you are really really really stupid. Poor child that grows up in your care that you couldnt stop being selfish and stop smoking for 9 months and dont give that crap morning sickness is so bad it is actually probably worse for a marijuana smoker.
@cyron4028 My appetite has been so horrible that I probably lost about 5 pounds in 2-3 weeks due to morning sickness. When you're nauseated like that, you can't eat. Marijuana can help with food aversions. When you're high, you don't care what you're eating, as long as it's filling you up. I imagine it works in the same way it works for those undergoing chemotherapy. I don't know if I could bring myself to smoke right now though.
@cyron4028 actually it's not worse for weed smokers. My kids are healthy and smart. however i didn't smoke the whole 9 months and not like 20 30 times a day.
Ok... how about this. I'm going to stop responding now so you can get some sleep. As always, you don't need to respond. Stop announcing you don't care, and actually stop caring.
"Gillette: The best a man can get.... therefore buy it".
I'm just saying because without that addendum at the end there it's not encouraging you to buy it *at all*, right? And anyone even suggesting that the millions spent on ads wasn't encouraging people to buy it in the slightest is really overstepping the mark?
Cos if not, you really don't have any call to complain.
@inquiringalien And I'm trying to make it clear that encouraging marijuana use by itemizing one example is damaging both to Marijuana's credibility, and dangerous to pregnant mothers.
Instead of putting up a proper study, you used the same stupid tactic used by racists (I know this one black guy), homophobes (I knew this one gay guy...), FOX news (Look at this one example we'll talk about for 2 weeks!), frat guys (dude, I totally know this one dude who...), and so on.
Here's the thing, you've replied to every comment. Pretending you don't is a little sad at this stage.
Look, the odds that you "don't give a shit" on post 9 are fairly slim, especially saying as you were pretty much saying that since post 2. You do care. I'm just bored. I came here to respond to someone else who asked for the study by the NEJM.
Unfortunately logical fallacies are a pet peeve of mine.
Anyway, it was fun "not arguing" with you for 20 odd posts.
@inquiringalien Quick question: What the hell do you think you're doing?
I say something, you feel the need to respond. You feel the need to point out you're "not arguing", though desperately trying to raise a counterpoint for... 7 posts now. You feel the need to point out "arguing is stupid" and that "Stupid people argue on youtube", and that this is a "waste of time", and you're somehow the better person and not doing that.
"i have not spoken of legalization at all, for any reason. go grind that axe elsewhere."
Preceded by:"Baalthazaq dude is an online crusader for the stupid sons-a-bitches who are trying to push their synthetic drugs with serious side effects onto others, all the while lying about a very beneficial herb?"
The assumptions I make about you (you are capable of forming a basic train of thought) are in your favor.
The assumptions you make about me (I'm a "liar") are not.
Describing your opinion in more detail, in lieu of the facts, does not a more impressive argument make. Allow me to demonstrate:
"No no no, I'm saying his accident CAUSED great bowling prowess!"
It's not suddenly a better argument, it is the same, bottom of the barrel, anecdotal pseudoscientific bull it was before you started speaking. If anything, all you've done is demonstrated it wasn't just a slip of the tongue, but a genuine failure of the mind.
@inquiringalien Or, I'm someone who supports legalization (as I've said before), but you cannot wrap your tiny mind around the idea that I can be for Marijuana, and not agree with arguing for it on the basis of *bad* science.
If you walk around, saying stupid shit like "Marijauna should be legal because I have red shoes", I'm going to say "You're an idiot". It doesn't say jack shit about my opinion on legalizing marijuana or if I think your shoes are pretty. (Which I'm sure they are).
If you're going to complain about people arguing on the internet, don't argue. If you respond, you are the people in conclusion 2, not magically above them because you deem it so.
Now. The analogy was only to keep the structure. I could have used ANY anecdote.
The point was: That was an anecdote. Yours was an anecdote. Both are incorrect for the same reason. The reason is that any correlation does not imply causation, and isolated incidents don't have statistical bearing.
dude, every article i can find on marijuana coming from the NE Journal of Medicine is pro marijuana. google it.
to be honest, its like you weren't even watching the same video. they were incredibly thorough, the numbers speak for themselves, and the case control is pretty incredible.
she also mentions study after study that backs the studies in jamaica. sounds like a "body of science" to me! YOU are actually quoting ONE study to make claims about science!
I don’t know any Jamaican woman who smokes marijuana. It’s always the men. Jamaican children will get in serious trouble with there parents is they are ever caught fooling around marijuana. i would like to know where in Jamaica you went and saw Jamaican parents giving marijuana tea to their children.
@mn7158 Actually, Jamaican women that smoke marijuana are called "Root Daughters". "Root Daughters" is a title for Jamaican women that can smoke their weed like a man. However, they are slightly shunned, but respected. It's a weird concept over there. Children actually do smoke marijuana over there. Some do it openly without any trouble.
Its a fact that alcohol and tobacco have killed millions of people. Its also a fact that Marijuana hasn't killed anybody. WHY IS IT ILLEGAL?
Time to wake up, the economy is shaky at best and we are turning down the billions that would come from taxing Marijuana. Not to mention the time and money saved from having to enforce the law against it.
To the antidrug folks out there barking about how its bad for you: You drink coffee or soda? Because caffeine has killed people before.
My professor is better than your professor. Well, the average professor I have seen or heard is invariably a stuck up tosser who thinks he knows everything just because he knows something about ONE subject, quite sad really, we could be evolving our minds in far more useful ways.
I'm pregnant and smoke weed because I can't gain any weight or keep even water down without it. I stop crying and picking fights with my husband, too! This would be a miserable journey without it but with it, I am so happy and hungry after I smoke. I feel a deep bond with my child and his father after I smoke, too, it is the best feeling ever.
@qwertyffun Honey research Preclamsia and marijuana use. I would hate for you to loss your child due to over use of marijuana. It has happened to someone I know, and their intire family never really recovered from the loss. Perhaps small doses of oil would be better for you and your baby. Enough to derive the benefits, without the diminished functioning that happens when high, as well as adverse effects on your developing childs lungs. Asthma, bronchiatis effects too!
@smateogal marijuana smoke does not cause those lung diseases. It affects the larger airways not the smaller ones so it cannot cause those lung diseases.
@smateogal This is an utter lie. There has not been one single reported death due in any direct part to Cannabis. Know your facts before you try to fool us.
Why do white folks use people of color as guinea pigs. Whats wrong with using white Folks. This is a crying shame. This sound like Hitlers concentration camps
@TheFlutevisions This is a racist remark if I ever heard one. First of all, no white people used any person of color as a "guinea pig" in this STUDY. Secondly, if there was a high concentration of white people that used marijuana the same as the people of Jamaca they would have been studied too. Jamaca is famous for it's use of Ganga and the only place this study could have been done. Grow up Flutevisions.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@aolthof007 Your telling me that the small island of Jamaica has more people living there than in the US. There are more people here that use marijuana than any pace on the planet. Do a study on that.
but if Flutevisions did his research you will notice that its done in jamaca because as you said they are known for ganga, it is their culture over there, in america it is not a culture, its stoners and hippys.
@aolthof007 Go to canada theres tons of White Hippies up there that smoke all the time..Some of them are my friends trust me they are there so please come with a more substantial arguement
@TheFlutevisions News Flash! Most white people aren't racist and don't have ill feelings for black people. People just smoke in Jamaica more, and guess what, there are white people in Jamaica too that were most likely in the study, too. Get over it.
Respond to this video... I didn't say anything about racism. I'm speaking the the truth and some people have a problem with that. I've live in America for the majority of my life. I know racism very well where old friends. Now you were saying get over something. I will never forget my ancestors and the hell white folks put them through.
@TheFlutevisions the study was done in the 80's hence pot wasn't legal in "America" as you put it. FYI "America" is a continent NOT a country and any native American should be telling other people this fact.
Your reverse racism is apparent to all who read your statements, your first being the most obvious. Then in this post you claim to have said nothing about racism. Epic Fail. And before you respond with some ignorant racist sounding bull shit and try preaching, I am from the Lakota Nation
"Any chance you have a bibliographical reference?"
The biblical word "pulse" is the leftover remains from the pressing of hemp seed oil. Hemp oil is the BRIGHTEST of all lamp oils. The rich in Babylon took the oil and fed the "pulse' to the animals....and the poor, widows, orphans, prisoners.
Now go read how the book of Daniel opens. Chapter one is, without a doubt, about establishing the hemp/myrrh plant as HOLY.

@mowilde "The minute you take a Marijuana joint & light it on fire over 90% of the medicinal aspects of that plant just went up in smoke. But when you eat the raw unburnt THC then magic happens."
Cannabis / Marijuana / Hemp Oil / THC - is the best medicine. Smoking is fine, although its better not to. cures cancer! Its healthier than sugar (ice cream, cake, candy, etc.)
Does anyone have any information on whether VAPORIZING during pregnancy is better than smoking? I can't get my head around the idea that smoking ANYTHING during pregnancy is good - vaporizing has to be better - right? Any words on this much appreciated.
@jkelucas using a vaporizor does eliminate the smoke portion and will not irritate your throat like smoking does. You can still do a little coughing if you inhale too much at one time. If you have any concern at all then use a vaporizor but the studies haven't shown any long-term adverse effects in those that smoke cannabis.
@aolthof007 MAPS has been trying to complete a legit FDA-approved study regarding the discretion between vapor and smoke, but NIDA has refused to provide them with the 10 grams of marijuana needed for the research. All FDA approved marijuana comes from NIDA, and is notoriously low-grade. (Medical Marijuana should be of the highest grade) Go to MAPS.org for how you can help get an FDA approved study on marijuana.
@jkelucas Vaporizing eliminates all the carbon you would put into your lungs..aka the TAR. It is very much like inhaling vapor from one of those steam humidifiers. I vape everyday and my doctor says I am healthier than she is!
@jkelucas Vaporizing eliminates all the carbon you would put into your lungs..aka the TAR. It is very much like inhaling vapor from one of those steam humidifiers. I vape everyday and my doctor says I am no risk...but i am not pregnant. check out LEAF it is a 15 minute video. very informational on JUICING RAW CANNABIS.
@Cantoffie Yeah, but chocolate doesn't help with morning sickness and allow you to eat when you otherwise wouldn't have been able to like marijuana does. It also doesn't help you sleep or calm you down when you're stressed like marijuana does. I'm pretty sure eating, sleeping, and stressing out as little as possible are important when you're pregnant. Chocolate can fuck itself, it's way easier to quit than something that actually helps you.
Even if this small study proved true for a small sample of Jamicans, there are many reasons why I would not consider smoking marijuana. I started writing a million reasons smoking anything is bad for you, but I will just say that I think this lady lacks clout and that's why other professionals ignored her work. Drug use during pregnancy (or at any time) is just dumb. Be sober and live your life people! We are not meant to experience this world in an altered state.
I'll tell you one thing, if you partake unfaithfully, you bring damnation to yourself, but yes, God gave every green seed bearing herb of the field for us to eat... actually to make use of as we see fit, but you have to remember first the commandments of God and Jesus and live by them. You have to put the Almighty above all things. It is then that what goes into a man does not defile him, but what comes out that you truly understand. Don't sin. Be filled with the Spirit!
So this 60 person study, according to some of you, "proof the issue is political more than anything else".
Anyone going to talk about the 1200 person study that found the opposite by the New England Journal of Medicine? No?
If you want to make claims about "Science", you make claims about the body of scientific evidence, not one study. Especially when telling pregnant women something will not harm their child, when most of the evidence suggests it will.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Baalthazaq The 1200 person study that was backed by Govt. Funding???
No one wants to hear it man, we have heard it since any of us using the internet was born.
But thanks for following along with the stereotypes of people who think the Govt knows best. The Govt. loves you and your willingness to follow them as a sheep.
@marcoze So, we're instead going with the stereotype that the government ( a collection of elected officials who don't get to keep much of the taxes we send their way) wants our money and is "out to get us".
Meanwhile we should continue to listen to your dealer for all the latest breakthroughs in medicine.
Irrespective of opinions: You should know that a 60 person study for a <3% incidence rate is meaningless. Look up "How to choose a sample size" in Google. Try the Raosoft calculator.
Lol, once again you fail at showing any type of Intelligence or valued higher learning. Listen to what dealer my man? Whos dealer?? Do i have a dealer?? Or are you once again talking out of your asshole......id bet thats the case because its hard not to when your head is so far up there.
Like i said, the Government loves you (The Govt i did not Elect). Im sure they appreciate your blind eye to reality and continue to fund their projects.
I don't live in, or have any connection to, the USA. Therefore to "the government" I assume you accused me of having (unless we're talking NWO here). My profile says this.
Your profile has nothing but videos of you smoking weed, and says you live in the united states. I made the assumption, from evidence, you had a dealer.
You called me names for making a possibly inaccurate inductive leap, when you are making definitely inaccurate uninspired statements...
@Baalthazaq What I believe to be irresponsible is if you disregard this legitimate study because you have another study that came to a different conclusion. If this study had not been presented to the public, that would be irresponsible. Who are you to say which study was the most valid? The point is to do studies and find out the truth, not just what our government wants you to know.
"Irresponsible" was referring to the person telling women that no harm will come to their child if they smoke Marijuana. That *is* irresponsible. There are direct effects of telling this person information that is incomplete.
"another study" with sample sizes 20 times larger. Seriously, as I told the earlier poster:
"Look up "How to choose a sample size" in Google. Try the Raosoft calculator."
Then do a comparison of how accurate my study is, vs this.
@Baalthazaq also a 1200 person study seems a bit fishy your talking about people who wont Evan allow marijuana to be tested on people for all this time and you think there gonna test it on pregnant women in the quantity of 1200 get real .
No offence, but you can quite happily just stop being lazy and look up the study.
You'll find that they didn't give out Marijuana to 1200 women (just like Dreher didn't give it to 60).
The same, perfectly legitimate methodology was used in that regard. Taking women who already use Marijuana during pregnancy and testing their children.
I really shouldn't have to defend random allegations of personal feelings of "fishiness" when all the details are publicly available.
@Baalthazaq You may or may not know cannabinoid receptors are one of the most common type of receptor in the human body, cannabinoids occur naturaly in the human body and these cannabinoids obviously stimulate the receptors. Mothers pass on cannabinoids to their child through breastfeeding and these cannabinoids stimulate the receptors which in turn stimulate the childs metobolism and other bodily functions. Some mothers do infact have a cannabinoid deficiancy and cannabis use can replace ....
@Baalthazaq the cannabinoids in order to pass on to the infant which gives the child a higher chance of survival. In a study they found the child death rate for a mother who uses cannabis was 8 deaths per 1000. For a sober mother the death rate rises to around 13 deaths per child born, mothers who used Heroin and Cocain had child mortality rates of around 17 to 18 deaths per 1000 infants born. Cannabis should never be used by anybody who's brain is not fully formed so about 18-19 is the minimum
@Baalthazaq age anyone should consider using cannabis because of the psychoactive effects of the herb which could prove damaging. No psychoactive effects are passed on from mother to baby only cannabinoids which the child needs. But as I was saying if your over 18-19 smoke sensibly and there won't be any other problems other than the problems assosiated with normal tobacco smoke and some suggest that the cannabinoids inhibit the growth of cancerous cells. Cannabis is not alcohol it is non toxic
@Baalthazaq Cannabis is not toxic in the slightest, it's completely different to a mother using alcohol of other such drugs. In reality it could probably do the child the world of good. PLEASE don't be fooled by the lies and the anti cannabis propeganda that you hear, they are all lies spread by the media and government agencies who are in turn paid huge sums of money by the pharmaceuticle industry to keep cannabis illegal. Cannabis is safer than you could ever imagine.
@Baalthazaq sorry to burst your bubble, but "most evidence suggests it will [harm an unborn baby]" are all clearly biased. studies based from countries where marijuana is considered "wrong" by propaganda from brain-washing governments. too bad people like you don't even have a brain of your own. marijuana only became illegal in the early 1920's. think about that for a minute in combination with the fact that there is more sickness in the 21st century than there ever was. i.e cancer, allergies.
@sewingkisses Incidentally, honestly, do you have any idea of how much of the population of human beings died from shit like "flu" back in the day? Why do you think the death rate was so high? Diseases was a big frigging part of it.
Why do you think the Chinese average life expectancy went up for 35 to 70? It wasn't the discovery of tiger penis.
@Baalthazaq so marijuana causes diseases? LOL that's a good one! i like how your arguments are so silly. maybe you should get your facts straight before you start judging a plant. that's all i want to say anymore. i'm tired of debating with a brick wall, i'm going to smoke some ganja instead :)
@Baalthazaq my dad is 71 smokes herb every day and is in better health than most 35 yr olds. wiki is lying they do it all the time .The nazis own all the main stream info and all the pharm companies
Anecdotes are as worthless to genuine debate as namecalling is.
I've given links to how to run a proper experiment sample. It has no relation to "The government", "The man", "the nazis", or "the media". It's simply a factual demonstration of a failing of this experiment. I'm sorry that upsets some of you.
Your anecdotes/ namecalling, and adding on further layers of false assumptions about my motivations just verifies the confirmation bias I was originally arguing against.
This is not a scientific experiment, it's a sociological and/or statistical study..but considering these are the type of studies that the DEA and ONDCP (etc) recite as holy scripture - I'd say this is a very valid argument for the reform of cannabis laws.
This is proof that this issue is more political anything else. Our government floods our minds with infor they prefer us to hear, when the truth of these types of findings are withheld. I am "pro choice" on this issue, although I would not smoke pot while pregnant myself, I would not prosecute a woman who chooses to. My only concern would be the possibility of obtaining the drug illegally in the US it may not be a pure herb at that point. But this is very eye opening, and interesting findings!
im pregnant and i do it. i argued with one of my friends that its not bad. he tries to tell me that his aunt is a nurse so he would know about it. he knows nothing
i think that smoking pure herb is probably different than smoking herb laced with all the chemicals that permeate herb sold in the us. id still refrain from smoking the herb while prego, despite the study.
You just gotta find pure grown marijuana instead of the pesticide-filled pot they give us from mexico. If u get pregnant and have bad morning sickness, maybe u should consider growing your own pot if u don't trust the dispensaries.
If I was pregnant and had awful morning sickness or even nausea, I'd definitely use pot to help. I'm already considering using marijuana anyway 'cause I'm also a little Autistic.
this was very helpful to me. i would never want to harm my child and i have been doing a lot of online research to make sure i wasn't. thank you so much for the time you have put into this and hopefully one day all will feel the same about this subject. peace and love to you
Read all the comments about weed sold in the US being not safe. There are pesticides etc. used in the manufacturing of marijuana sold in the US. You may harm that baby. Also, smoking is never a good idea when pregnant or otherwise. It may be difficult to obstain, but pot use during pregnancy can be stopped, and there are many risks involved with pregnancy anyways. Why take the chance. It's just 9 months. OBSTAIN.
Smoking is not good for you, and does have some health concerns. However you can consume cannabis using alternate delivery methods (Vaporizers, Oils, Edibles, etc) and still receive the medicinal value, without smoking it and causing negative impact on your lungs.
That is great and a common choice, remember there are other ways of consuming cannabis, as in tea or perhaps for when needed, a vaporizer.
remember, cannabis smoke is NOT cigarette smoke, and to this day has not shown any signs of causing any mutation of cells or DNA, but quite the opposite. cannabis has been discovered to help maintain healthy cellular growth and rejuvenize and repair damaged cells.
@Fastlan3 Our DNA is fairly static, and does not change. The epigenomes are the things experiencing change in function. Burning marijuana sold in the US, and inhaling the fumes seems like a very iffy proposition. The pesticides and other chemicals on the plant, when inhaled, go into your blood stream along with the THC. I am leery of tainting pregnancy with the unknown. So much could go wrong! Why up the chances. A sickly child is such a heartache! Just obstain during pregnancy at least!
Another factual scientific study done. I had read about this study done in Jamaica recently on the net, but to hear the words coming from the main person that did the study is Awesome. I loved the ending where she shows an actual prescriptions given to a lady for Ovarian Cancer and the cough syrup for children with Cannabis as the Main ingredient. Our recent history has been erased to cover up the harms done to us by outlawing this wonderous plant. Possibly the most beneficial plant!
HOLY SHIT!! So this study confirmed that cannabis made healthy babies? TEN SIX INCH SPLIFFS A DAY??? FUCK THAT'S A SHIT TON OF WEED!!! Goddamn the more the healthier it seems!!
About time the myths were expelled...

"the study had no impact"
Jct: It would have had Melanie Dreher found it harmed the children of using pregnant mothers. I'd have hoped that the neuro-genesis effect discovered at U. of Saskatchewan in 2006 (new brain cells) might have made a difference in the fetuses exposed to brain-growing cannabinoids. When you went back with your findings, you couldn't get refunded! No kidding. Government squelching your research on the benefits of marijuana use by pregnant mothers!

@cyron4028 If you'd ever had hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) you would know that ingesting ANYTHING will make you throw up... and how could your baby survive/thrive without food and water? Plus, vaporize and it is thoroughly therapeutic-- NO HARM!!!

Ok so marijuana smoke good for fetus and tobacco smoke bad right..thought it was smoke either way didn't know that marijuana smoke goes to a different location in the body I learn something new everyday!!it just amazes me how many people step up to say pot is okay when you are pregnant and we are absolutly certain that it does no harm..risk your baby for a high or morning sickness that other women have dealt with since the beginning of time!!
cyron4028 4 months ago
@cyron4028 This study was on the effects of smoking marijuana, not a comparison study of it's effects against other remedies, such as ginger. I for one believe we, as humans, should use whatever works the best for us and not limit our arsenal of choices because of myth or politics.
aolthof007 4 months ago 28
@cyron4028 and you know how they've been dealing with morning sickness since the beginning of time? Marijuana. It's a natural plant that has been around for thousands of years- and being used for thousands of years.
beautifulkira17 2 months ago 2
@cyron4028 the difference between tobacco smoke and marijuana are HUGE. tobacco companies put all kinds of foul toxins into their product, and marijuana is a PLANT that has also been here since the beginning of time. Who says our ancestors weren't aware of its many uses? Native cultures have long been using it for their pregnant and laboring women.
kittykendrita 2 months ago
@cyron4028 actually... cannabis had been used from the "beginning of time" up until a few years ago as time is counted AND morning sickness was one of the things it was used for..... learn before speaking.

@cyron4028 lol so don't smoke it - there are also vaporizors that are inhaled, but no "smoke" is produced. Don't be so short-sighted.

Karendean 5 months ago
I've been pregnant twice before now on my 3rd apparently. I stopped smoking tobacco cold turkey. Point being is the doctors gave me a medication for the morning sickness or what i'll call all through sickness but how do they expect it to work if i just throw it back up? if you can't keep anything down you'll get dehydrated and possibly put the unborn into harms way. My daughter is sharp as a tac and my son is on the otherside of the moon they want to boost him up 2 grades.
darkmystikallette 5 months ago
there are many women that go through morning sickness without pot that is something that you have to deal with when pregnant.
cyron4028 6 months ago
@cyron4028 have you heard of hyperemesis gravidarum? Essentially, it is severe morning sickness that can last into the third trimester and it is brutal. Mom & baby can suffer from dehydration, anemia, & general malnutrition. Unfortunately the medications prescribed are not as safe as desired and like darkmystickallette said, you have to be able to keep the pill down in order for it to work. Many women are prescribed marijuana which has been shown to be more effective than pharmaceuticals.
rinerbug750 4 months ago
@cyron4028 Something you 'have to deal with?' You've obviously never heard of hypermesis. This is morning sickness to the point of women being dehydrated, malnourished, as well as causing death for them and or their unborn child. 1% of pregnant women are effected. (incase you're unaware, that is one out of every one-hundred pregnant women) Marijuana is a MIRACLE drug for these women. In these cases it saves lives.
jucker1797 4 months ago 2
@jucker1797 Thank you for posting this comment. Years ago I was one of those unlucky 1% & had to choose between the threats of CPS, dangerous prescriptions that cause deformities, & fear of my baby dying because I couldn't keep anything down. I self-medicated & had the wrath of CPS brought onto my head, but my baby was healthy & after some major hell, we were ultimately some of the lucky ones.
KatharsisAmok 3 months ago
if you have an education what is the difference between a jamican women and american women you can not apply this crap 60 person study to all of america just not possible. so if you risk your baby on a 60 person study then you are really really really stupid. Poor child that grows up in your care that you couldnt stop being selfish and stop smoking for 9 months and dont give that crap morning sickness is so bad it is actually probably worse for a marijuana smoker.
cyron4028 6 months ago
@cyron4028 My appetite has been so horrible that I probably lost about 5 pounds in 2-3 weeks due to morning sickness. When you're nauseated like that, you can't eat. Marijuana can help with food aversions. When you're high, you don't care what you're eating, as long as it's filling you up. I imagine it works in the same way it works for those undergoing chemotherapy. I don't know if I could bring myself to smoke right now though.
GoddessOfDeath87 6 months ago 2

Cos if not, you really don't have any call to complain.
P.S. 11 posts.
Baalthazaq 7 months ago
@inquiringalien And I'm trying to make it clear that encouraging marijuana use by itemizing one example is damaging both to Marijuana's credibility, and dangerous to pregnant mothers.
Instead of putting up a proper study, you used the same stupid tactic used by racists (I know this one black guy), homophobes (I knew this one gay guy...), FOX news (Look at this one example we'll talk about for 2 weeks!), frat guys (dude, I totally know this one dude who...), and so on.
Don't. It's stupid.

@inquiringalien Probably.

None of this was true by post 2.
You don't need to reply.....

Baalthazaq 7 months ago
@inquiringalien Or, I'm someone who supports legalization (as I've said before), but you cannot wrap your tiny mind around the idea that I can be for Marijuana, and not agree with arguing for it on the basis of *bad* science.
If you walk around, saying stupid shit like "Marijauna should be legal because I have red shoes", I'm going to say "You're an idiot". It doesn't say jack shit about my opinion on legalizing marijuana or if I think your shoes are pretty. (Which I'm sure they are).
Baalthazaq 7 months ago
@inquiringalien
Baalthazaq 7 months ago

I know a guy who got in a car wreck. Right now he's a world class bowler.

@TheFlutevisions This is a racist remark if I ever heard one. First of all, no white people used any person of color as a "guinea pig" in this STUDY. Does anyone have any information on whether VAPORIZING during pregnancy is better than smoking? I can't get my head around the idea that smoking ANYTHING during pregnancy is good - vaporizing has to be better - right? Any words on this much appreciated.
jkelucas 1 year ago 4
@jkelucas using a vaporizor does eliminate the smoke portion and will not irritate your throat like smoking does. You can still do a little coughing if you inhale too much at one time. If you have any concern at all then use a vaporizor but the studies haven't shown any long-term adverse effects in those that smoke cannabis.
aolthof007 1 year ago 2
@aolthof007 MAPS has been trying to complete a legit FDA-approved study regarding the discretion between vapor and smoke, but NIDA has refused to provide them with the 10 grams of marijuana needed for the research. All FDA approved marijuana comes from NIDA, and is notoriously low-grade. (Medical Marijuana should be of the highest grade) Go to MAPS.org for how you can help get an FDA approved study on marijuana.

That is a wealthy opinion.
There are many points i could argue, but let's just keep things simple.
I am sure you are just being aggressive, or clearly have little idea about the brain.
Altered states of the mind are its natural course. The food we eat and air we breath as well as the tasks we perform greatly effect our "state".
I understand you might think i am being facetious, but many THINGS have substantial variables with "good" and "bad" results.
Calling it a DRUG doesn't make it BAD.

If you want to make claims about "Science", you make claims about the body of scientific evidence, not one study. Especially when telling pregnant women something will not harm their child, when most of the evidence suggests it will.
That's just irresponsible.

Try the failure calculator.

@marcoze
My my, aren't we witty.
Baalthazaq 1 year ago
@marcoze Seriously though, go look up the calculator, go look up how you determine an accurate sample size.
Then put her numbers in that equation. Take the incidence rate as the margin of error, drop the confidence rate until you get her sample size.
That will tell you how accurate her study is.
This isn't government controlled, this is flat out math, findable anywhere.
And you accuse *me* of ignoring reality? Can I borrow your failure calculator, you just failed harder than I can count.

@Baalthazaq "Anyone going to talk about the 1200 person study that found the opposite by the New England Journal of Medicine? No?"
I'd love to check it out -- Any chance you have a bibliographical reference?
recompile 1 year ago
@Baalthazaq What I believe to be irresponsible is if you disregard this legitimate study because you have another study that came to a different conclusion. If this study had not been presented to the public, that would be irresponsible. Who are you to say which study was the most valid? The point is to do studies and find out the truth, not just what our government wants you to know.
aolthof007 1 year ago 42
@aolthof007
Baalthazaq 1 year ago
@Baalthazaq also a 1200 person study seems a bit fishy your talking about people who wont Evan allow marijuana to be tested on people for all this time and you think there gonna test it on pregnant women in the quantity of 1200 get real .
sk8forlifebitch 1 year ago
@sk8forlifebitch

RasOrville 9 months ago 2
@Baalthazaq the cannabinoids in order to pass on to the infant which gives the child a higher chance of survival. In a study they found the child death rate for a mother who uses cannabis was 8 deaths per 1000. For a sober mother the death rate rises to around 13 deaths per child born, mothers who used Heroin and Cocain had child mortality rates of around 17 to 18 deaths per 1000 infants born. Cannabis should never be used by anybody who's brain is not fully formed so about 18-19 is the minimum
RasOrville 9 months ago
@Baalthazaq age anyone should consider using cannabis because of the psychoactive effects of the herb which could prove damaging. No psychoactive effects are passed on from mother to baby only cannabinoids which the child needs. But as I was saying if your over 18-19 smoke sensibly and there won't be any other problems other than the problems assosiated with normal tobacco smoke and some suggest that the cannabinoids inhibit the growth of cancerous cells. Cannabis is not alcohol it is non toxic
RasOrville 9 months ago
@Baalthazaq Cannabis is not toxic in the slightest, it's completely different to a mother using alcohol of other such drugs. In reality it could probably do the child the world of good. PLEASE don't be fooled by the lies and the anti cannabis propeganda that you hear, they are all lies spread by the media and government agencies who are in turn paid huge sums of money by the pharmaceuticle industry to keep cannabis illegal. Cannabis is safer than you could ever imagine.
RasOrville 9 months ago
@Baalthazaq sorry to burst your bubble, but "most evidence suggests it will [harm an unborn baby]" are all clearly biased. studies based from countries where marijuana is considered "wrong" by propaganda from brain-washing governments. too bad people like you don't even have a brain of your own. marijuana only became illegal in the early 1920's. think about that for a minute in combination with the fact that there is more sickness in the 21st century than there ever was. i.e cancer, allergies.
sewingkisses 9 months ago
@sewingkisses
Define bubble. I'm in favour of marijuana legalization.
So what "people like me" are you talking about? Ah, people who dare question any of your anecdotally supported beliefs with hard numbers.
The average life expectancy has gone up. The older you are, the more chance you have of cancer.
Age 0-50 = Under 17% of cancer cases.
Age 50+ = Over 83%.
Average life expectancy in 1920s: 54.
Evidently "Think for a minute" isn't long enough. Try longer. Try science.
Baalthazaq 9 months ago
@sewingkisses Incidentally, honestly, do you have any idea of how much of the population of human beings died from shit like "flu" back in the day? Why do you think the death rate was so high? Diseases was a big frigging part of it.
Why do you think the Chinese average life expectancy went up for 35 to 70? It wasn't the discovery of tiger penis.
Baalthazaq 9 months ago
@Baalthazaq so marijuana causes diseases? LOL that's a good one! i like how your arguments are so silly. maybe you should get your facts straight before you start judging a plant. that's all i want to say anymore. i'm tired of debating with a brick wall, i'm going to smoke some ganja instead :)
sewingkisses 9 months ago
@sewingkisses
...
1) You were never debating.
2) The argument you just called silly is your argument.
You said "marijuana only became illegal in the early 1920's. There is more sickness in the 21st century than there ever was. i.e cancer, allergies."
So, you're saying: "Marijuana illegal, then *POOF* more diseases like cancer!"
Equivalent: "Piracy declines, then *POOF* global warming!"
All I did was post the stats on cancer. It's not my fault they make you look like an idiot.

@Baalthazaq my dad is 71 smokes herb every day and is in better health than most 35 yr olds. wiki is lying they do it all the time .The nazis own all the main stream info and all the pharm companies

@isee42
Baalthazaq 3 months ago

But this is very eye opening, and interesting findings!

i think that smoking pure herb is probably different than smoking herb laced with all the chemicals that permeate herb sold in the us. id still refrain from smoking the herb while prego, despite the study.
saylista 2 years ago
@saylista
You just gotta find pure grown marijuana instead of the pesticide-filled pot they give us from mexico. If u get pregnant and have bad morning sickness, maybe u should consider growing your own pot if u don't trust the dispensaries.
liberty2011able 2 months ago
If I was pregnant and had awful morning sickness or even nausea, I'd definitely use pot to help. I'm already considering using marijuana anyway 'cause I'm also a little Autistic.

this was very helpful to me. i would never want to harm my child and i have been doing a lot of online research to make sure i wasn't. thank you so much for the time you have put into this and hopefully one day all will feel the same about this subject. peace and love to you

@farmboy69x2
OBSTAIN.
2funkytown 1 year ago
I dnt think the weed itself is bad i just think inhaling the smoke is duh so ither way i wouldnt smoke DURING my pregnancy..

Smoking is not good for you, and does have some health concerns. However you can consume cannabis using alternate delivery methods (Vaporizers, Oils, Edibles, etc) and still receive the medicinal value, without smoking it and causing negative impact on your lungs.
nsweet79 2 years ago
That is great and a common choice, remember there are other ways of consuming cannabis, as in tea or perhaps for when needed, a vaporizer.
remember, cannabis smoke is NOT cigarette smoke, and to this day has not shown any signs of causing any mutation of cells or DNA, but quite the opposite. cannabis has been discovered to help maintain healthy cellular growth and rejuvenize and repair damaged cells.
Fastlan3 2 years ago
@Fastlan3 Our DNA is fairly static, and does not change. The epigenomes are the things experiencing change in function. Burning marijuana sold in the US, and inhaling the fumes seems like a very iffy proposition. The pesticides and other chemicals on the plant, when inhaled, go into your blood stream along with the THC. I am leery of tainting pregnancy with the unknown. So much could go wrong! Why up the chances. A sickly child is such a heartache! Just obstain during pregnancy at least!
2funkytown 1 year ago
@2funkytown
You have much more reason to worry about the food you eat, simple things most find hard to avoid.
I think you are a little aggressive with such an approach, but honest and with good intentions.
